[RCT 2]Kimeloff Amusements
CardCraze replied to Califolf's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I hate to be "that guy" but I have a couple things to add in: 1. I love the park so far. 2. PLEASE add another side to the wall on your kiddie dark ride. I don't know why, it's just a pet peeve of mine. 3. Your trees don't seem to blend particularly well. They are all bunched together and you only have so many different trees. 4. Why are your coaster trains so short? This one isn't criticism, but just a question. Maybe I missed it in the story or something, but are your stations just short, or do you prefer shorter trains? Again, I love the park! Feel free to ignore me if you disagree, but these were just what I noticed. Keep up the good work! -
I'm sorry. I must have forgotten Kings Dominion is adding amazing new rides EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Let's look, shall we? 2010: Intimidator 305(KD), Thomad Town(SFA) 2009: El Dorado and Americana (KD, Americana has TERRIBLE capacity), Nothing(SFA) 2008: Dominator (KD), Tony Hawk's Halfpipe Slide (SFA) 2007: Waterworks Overhaul (KD), Nothing (SFA) 2006: Backlot Stunt Coaster, FoF shut down until Mid-August. Go Karts added for additional fee (KD), Nothing (SFA) 2005: The Crypt (KD), Hurricaine Harbor Overhaul, 3 New Slides (SFA) 2004: Scooby Doo & The Haunted Mansion (KD), Nothing (SFA) 2003: Drop Tower & Spongebob 3-D (KD), Penguin's Blizzard River (SFA) 2002: Ricochet and Triple Spin (KD), Nothing (SFA) 2001: Hypersonic XLC (KD), Batwing & Skycoaster (SFA) 2000: Pipeline Peak (KD), S:ROS (SFA) So let's review. SFA recieved 2 new Coasters, KD recieved 5 Coasters, one of which was removed. Of those 4/5 Additions to KD, one, maybe 2 are truely Great Coasters. Of the two added to SFA, S:ROS is a Great Coaster, and I personally enjoy batwing. Kings Dominion added 1 ride which required an additional fee, as did SFA. Kings Dominion added 6 flats, 7 if you include Drop Tower. SFA added/relocated 5 Flat Rides, and Penguin's Blizzard River. Kings Dominion lost Hypersonic XLC, along with Diamond Falls. SFA Lost Two Face: The Flip Side, and 8 Flat Rides, several of which were simply re-located to Thomas Town. Both parks significantly expanded their waterpark. Yes, SFA may not recieve additions at the same rate as KD, but when you look at the past ten years, how many of King's Dominion's additions have been "amazing" additions?
-
But do you still see the general trend? Those three parks have high attendence, and thus, have recieved (somewhat) major additions. Six Flags America has not had the same numbers in attendence that those parks have, and thus has recieved small-moderate sized additions each year. My point is, Six Flags America certainly isn't leading the chain in terms of attendence. I (again) personally feel a wild mouse coaster or a small to moderate coaster would be a nice addition to the park. BUT: The park just isn't in line to recieve major additions at the same rate as SFGADV, SFMM, SFGAM.
-
Its up to us to attend a park, so they can actually give us a reason to want to go later? I think you have that backwards personally. My point is, looking at it from the business side of the equation: the higher the attendence, the higher the rate of new rides. Just because attendence is low, doesn't mean a park should be neglected, and SFA isn't neglected, as Thomas Town has showed. However, there is a difference between nice, small additions, and massive coasters. The first is easy to build and, as we saw this year, allows parks to re-locate things and rework the park, while still being able to advertise the entire thing as "new rides". Bottom line is that SFA will continue to see improvements and additions to the park. However, until the atendence justifies anything further, additions will be few and far between.
-
I feel it's more the bad rep SFA gets than the location. I mean, you can see it in this very thread. "I don't feel safe." "The park is disgusting." The park is improving in that general catagory, but as many can also tell you, they still have a fair amount of work remaining. Especially with Kings Dominion 2 or 2 and 1/2 hours away, and BGW only 3 and 1/2 or 4. The park has some great coasters. I love the Wild One and S:ROS. I also enjoy Batwing and Joker's Jinx. But until this park can establish a better location, it doesn't matter where it is, it will suffer below average attendence. Which, I personally feel is a shame.

Best Theme Park Food
CardCraze replied to ChrisZer0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Busch Gardens Williamsburg, specifically the Festhaus. Other than that, we don't normally eat too much at parks, other than the 99c Refill Popcorn Buckets. Kings Dominion has some pretty lousy food, as do Six Flags parts, for the most part. Six Flags does have Pappa John's, which has a *really* good personal pan pizza. I typically hate Pappa Johns (along with most chain pizza resturants like Pizza Hut, Domino's, and etc.) but it was inexpicably good. -
Yea, pretty much, until The attendence of the park justifies a major addition. Six Flags is a major company, their main focus is to make money. And how do they make money? With attendence of course! So, logically, parks that have higher attendence (Magic Mountain, Great Adventure, etc.) have a tendancy to get new rides more often. SFA got the addition of Thomas Town this year which is a step in the right direction. So, if the attendence keeps improving, than fairly soon a major addition will be placed in the park! But, it's up to you and the rest of the GP to give Six Flags Inc. a reason to expan the park.

I agree,KD's haunt is many times better....plus their ride lineup outdoes SFA's any day. Do you come here just to express your hate for SFA? Both of the parks have very good coasters, you don't have to constantly remind us of your extreme inner hatred for SFA. I think we got it the first few hundred times you said it.

I have a strange feeling, don't ask me why, that the person who listed this auction had his first kiss on the Big Dipper with his girlfriend who would later become his wife. -

HERETIC! BURN THE HERETIC! Actually, I've heard a few people say that. I enjoyed it, I thought it was an awesome ride, but I can see how some people wouldn't care for it. The large majority of the ride is just twisting and turning. -
The employees are doing a lot better this year. The Penguin's Blizzard River crew was doing a BAD job handling the boats, and as a result, the bottoms were filled w/ 1-2 feet of water, black water. But Superman was very fast to dispatch. Batwing takes a lot longer to check because of the design of the restraints. They are improving. Is it up to par with some of the other parks in the area? No, it's not even close at this point. But the point is they are starting to move in the right direction, and that is a positive.

SFDK Boomerang Stalls Midcourse
CardCraze replied to Columbia's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's your choice to stand in line. I'm pretty positive none of these riders chose to be stuck on a coaster for a lengthy period of time. -
Visited the park Saturday, had a pretty great time. A few notes: -Batwing was running not One(1), but Two(2), yes 2 trains! That was the first time I have ever seen that happen. -In a tradeoff, Superman: Ride of Steel was only running one train. -Penguin's Blizzard River's Crew was doing an awful job handling the boats. Yes, they were dispatched fairly quickly, but there was black water that was up to my ankles, it was pretty disgusting. -The park insists on leaving "Pirates os the..." "Skull Mountain" and "Renegade Rapids" closed until mid-late afternoon for some bizarre reason. This leads to the Blizzard River line being incredibly long in the morning, and almost non-existent in the evening. -In a rather amusing not, the Railroad arms, or whatever you call them, broke. So in addition to a terrible ringing noise for about ten minutes, I saw a park employee on one side, telling people to cross over the tracks anyways as it was broken. The employee on the other side told them to go back, and that they should not cross until the arms go up. -I had "V.I.P. Skip the Line Passes" which enabled myself to skip the line for any ride(s) twice. I did SROS twice, and took the back row. The park employees were cool with it, however, a man complained about how I was "line jumping" and insisted a Ride-Op explain to him what a "Flash Pass" was. Finally, we had another interesting note, while waiting for Superman, a "scene" errupted where a woman accused another of line jumping. The woman who line jumped, had no clue about roller coasters, and insisted that she jumped because the rest of the line was waiting for the front. The two and their parties started screaming profanities across the station. The ride-op immediatly called Park Security, who got there about 3-4 minutes later. Park Security tried to calm the pair down and resolve the issue, but had little success. Finally, about a good 2-3 minutes later, local police arrived. In the end: -Everyone involved in the fiasco was kicked out of the line, and ejected by Park Security -The woman who was doing most of the screaming and cursing, the one who had line jumped, was lead from the park by local police.

^ It's amazing the GP fails to realize how amazing I-305 is. I went back in July and I-305 was a 1 train wait or walk on all day. I rode it 6 or 7 times. Meanwhile, Flight of Fear had a wait time of about 20-25 minutes, and Volcano was approaching an hour wait. I think the icing on the cake though was coming of Intimidator, I heard a girl say "It was okay, but they should make it go upside down." -

Nice TR. So sorry about Mind Eraser, hopefully your recovery will be swift from that terrible design of head-banging, headache-giving, pain iducing death trap.

^ King's Dominion has cubbies, but it also makes loading the trains a lot slower. Lockers, while annoying, allow for Six Flags to load the trains at a reasonable rate. Cubbies just slow things down. As far as the Flash Passes, I have never seen massive amounts of people using them, especially at SFA. It provides the park with yet another source of income. And besides, everyone has the ability and the option to purchase a "Flash Pass". If you do spend your good money on it, you deserve the extra perks entitled with it. If you choose not to buy one, than you wait in line for a couple extra minutes, it shouldn't kill you.
