^ So true. I was so happy to hear about this revitalization. It's way overdue. -

I found that the ride is less painful when you wait until later in the day to ride it. It runs a lot better once it has warmed up. -
Weird Roller Coaster Dreams
GwaziBSRider1 replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had a dream that I worked at Kennywood, and it was my job to find a new location for Laser Loop so the Steel Phantom could be built. I suggested removing a few of the lesser used picnic areas, and I was chased out of the park by an angry mob with torches and pitchforks. -

Mean Streak isn't even that bad anymore. The retracking they've done on it is wonderful. It's nowhere near the smoothest woodie out there, but it's nowhere near as rough as it used to be. Sorry, but I've always been a fan of Mean Streak. -
I really liked Michigan's Adventure. It's a really nice medium park, and Shivering Timbers is a fantastic coaster that ran butter smooth for me this year. Honestly, Carowinds is my least favorite of the CF parks. Also, I wouldn't put Great Escape as Six Flags' worst. I would put that on Six Flags America. It's literally their red headed stepchild.

Where Are You Planning To Go In 2014?
GwaziBSRider1 replied to azza29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I've been to all of the PA parks but four (DelGrosso's, Knoebels, Dutch Wonderland, Sesame Place), and I frequently visit most of the others. If you have questions about any of them, I'm happy to help! -
What area really needs a theme park?
GwaziBSRider1 replied to let1gre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know it would be difficult with all of the larger parks around here, but I'd really love to see another park in West Virginia, especially one that could use the terrain and wooded areas in its favor. If it were pulled off correctly, I think it could work if it were built near our cities. We were supposed to get a park called Wild Escape in Wheeling several years ago, but it's long died off. I believe there's a car dealership on the property now. -

This will be a nice trip, but watch out for the PA Turnpike! It's very expensive and NOT in good shape (especially on the eastern end). -

I was hoping next year would be a real all-star year, but the budget is already saying otherwise! I'm graduating from college and getting started in the workforce plus moving, so *trying* to keep it smaller. Hoping to accumulate vacation days for another TPR tour in 2015. What I plan (read that as hope) to do is... -Busch Gardens Williamsburg (revisit) -La Ronde -Silver Dollar City & Six Flags St. Louis -Kings Island (revisit), Coney Island OH, & Stricker's Grove -Six Flags New England, Quassy, & Lake Compounce -Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knott's, Disneyland, & DCA -Dollywood (revisit) & Lake Winnie -Hersheypark (revisit) & Knoebels For some smaller, one-day trips (mostly revisits), I hope to accomplish... -DelGrosso's & Lakemont (revisit) -Six Flags America (revisit) -Kennywood (revisit) -
I don't see this going anywhere either. There's a life-sized Noah's Ark being built in Frostburg, Maryland, and it's literally been under construction since the late 1970's. The pastor responsible STILL believes it will be open. This may shed a light on the Kentucky ark. The news article about Frostburg's if anyone's interested: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20649021

Amusement Ride Breakdown!
GwaziBSRider1 replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Somewhat of a breakdown... I was at SFGAdv last year and got in line for Kingda Ka right after it had opened after being broken down. My friend and I waited about 10-15 minutes and got into the second seat. The train out on the launch pad wasn't moving and was brought into the left station. Passengers from both trains were taken out of the train. After several minutes, our train successfully completed a dry run. The opposite train was loaded with the previous passengers and was launched faster than it should have. I had never been to the park, but I've seen TTD launch many times, and it NEVER traveled as fast as I saw that train go over the top of Kingda Ka. We were put back into the train, and we launched. The maintenance team or somebody must have adjusted the launch speed because not only did we not have enough momentum to go over, but we didn't even have enough momentum to fall back! We were stopped 256 feet in the air. Everyone on the train was, obviously, freaking out. Luckily, the train was able to make itself go over the hill and down the drop. We really weren't up there all that long, but it was a really cool experience. Naturally, Kingda Ka was closed once we got back to the station. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
GwaziBSRider1 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember at Kennywood probably 11 or 12 years ago, I was riding Raging Rapids and these two women had no clue that they were going to get wet. For those who've never ridden it, there are speakers constantly blaring out that you will get soaked. Their reactions were priceless.
