  1. BGW has a very nice Sesame Street area as well. Personally I prefer Busch over KD for my kids. It's more an atmosphere thing for me but I will admit that I haven't been to KD in the last few seasons.
  2. ^How is the statement that Wildcat is rough and "innard mushing" any different from your opinion of Skyrush? I happen to be one of those people who avoid Wildcat at all costs. It has gotten to the point where it ruins my visits to the park. But that's my opinion. Your's may be different. By the way congrats on calling the owner of this website a pussy because he doesn't agree with your love of Wildcat. (Hope you can feel the sarcasm there). If I read correctly, Robb was the one who asked is Wildcat still turns innard to mush...
  3. As of last summer, my best rides were the first and second row. Anything further back was mush inducing. By best rides I mean I came off with a headache at a dull roar that kept me from riding anything beyond the monorail for several hours.
  4. Wildcat does get a line but not more than down the ramp to the station. They haven't really needed that crazy long queue line since a few seasons after it opened. I'm all for a rough and tumble woodie but Wildcat is one that I just can't come around to. I always end up with a nasty headache. It's good to hear all of the good reports about Skyrush! Wish I could ride this summer but being prego, it's just not happening.
  5. The griping and complaining on Facebook is in full force too. One very knowledgeable person informed us that the only reason they removed BBW for this unreliable ride was because someone fell out and lived. A bunch of others have apparently had their lives crushed by the park's concern for guest safety.
  6. In all honesty, get there at opening if not before. Otherwise try to get the Fast Lane pass if there are any left. You shouldn't have any issues with lines for Lightning Racer or Wildcat at all. Fahrenheit and Sky Rush will most likely be the worst of the lines. But that being said, all the coasters can get crazy lines almost any time. I was lucky all last summer with Storm Runner being a walk on around 3:00 for some reason while Sidewinder right next to it had a 45 minute wait.
  7. I'm tempted to say Fahrenheit also. It's almost painful to wait in that line when it has a full queue. There's little shade and I don't recall any misters being on in the line. Not to mention watching the trains stacking on the brake run. Then again Sky Rush is an unknown. There could be the typical problems running a brand new coaster.
  8. ^it's a private group off of the Hersheypark page. I'm pretty sure you have to be invited to join.
  9. We have had the same forecast for a week now. It will be bright and sunny one minute and the next raining cats and dogs. I don't think it will keep anyone away from the park this weekend though. There's too much excitement for this. I just wish I would be able to ride it this summer - 22 weeks pregnant and coasters don't mix.
  10. Not sure what forecast you saw but I live not far from the park and our forecast is 90 and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. That's according to our local news and The Weather Channel. In fact, the local news anchors are supposed to preview the coaster tonight and it is in question because of the weather.
  11. The weather forecast is very unsettled in our area all week and into next week. You may get some intermittent rain.
  12. I'm going to guess Saturday is going to be absolutely insane. Hershey has tv ads running specifically for SkyRush which I don't recall for other new coasters (I could be wrong though).
  13. ^ you sound like you're built about like my husband. He's 5'8" and 205 and he doesn't have any issues with any types of restraints. I'd bet you'll be just fine.
  14. I would actually advise hitting Fahrenheit first, even before StormRunner. To say Fahrenheit has a slow line is an understatement. As a season pass holder who only goes on weekdays, I still only average 2 rides per summer because of the lines and slow operations.
  15. Due to the non-linear nature of air resistance, it may take a large change in speed at the top of the lift to change the speed at the bottom by 0.3 mph. In the extreme case, such as skydiving, the speed at the top of the fall doesn't change the end speed at all because the falling object reaches terminal velocity. Drastically slowing the lift would reduce capacity of the ride. Gotcha! I can see simply from capacity standpoint now why they would trim it rather than slow the lift. Thanks!!
  16. I know some of you on here are engineers (as a chemist I only have the basic physics needed for my degree) and I am wondering does that 0.3 mph really impact the g forces a rider will feel? I'm a little lost as to all the debate and why they would trim it rather than, say, slow the lift speed slightly. Anybody care to shed light for me?
  17. But get there early in the day. It can get quite a wait at times.
  18. ^^are you judging the park by the map or have you been there? Hershey may not be the biggest park out there but they have a well rounded collection of rides and a very nice family atmosphere.
  19. ^sounds kinda like Fahrenheit's color scheme minus the silver trains. I don't think it will be all that bad.
  20. The smokehouse is pretty good and the s'mores rock. I still wouldn't spring for Breakfast in the Park, especially when the characters are pretty accessible in the park during the day (or maybe my kids have been fairly lucky).
  21. ^^in my opinion the Breakfast in the Park isn't really worth the money. It's fairly pricey, as is all the food in the park and I find the food to be hit or miss. Some things are great and some are just ok. I would hit up a local restaurant for breakfast myself. Just my 2 cents...
  22. The Cyclone at William's Grove, built in 1933, and Comet at HersheyPark, built in 1946.
  23. The park also had a useful skyride. The station is now the Kosher Mart at the front end of the park. I don't remember when or why it was removed. The Skyview that is still there has always been that "scenic" type of skyride. Kind of pointless, in my opinion, and not worth the 45 minute wait it gets some days.
  24. The one at Hersheypark is still there. I took my 1 year old on it this summer. It doesn't get the speed that the carnival one seem to get. We barely made it down the last hill.
  25. ABW just Google Jerry Sandusky grand jury report.
