  1. No such luck. 2 dead and many injured. It smashed off the support and you can see someone go flying off. The video I saw was EXTREMELY graphic, showing up close the rescue efforts. Yikes! - Yeah, I’ll admit I didn’t watch the video that closely.... I’d be traumatized for life. Thoughts are with the injured and the deceased’s families. Awful, awful accident. It was terrible to watch. I turned it off when I realized how graphic it was. Stuff of nightmares for sure.

  3. Wildcat is a one and done for me. If I don't get the magic seat (2nd row) I have a massive headache. I even take ibuprofen before riding in preparation.
  4. AKA its down for the rest of the season. Well I mean yeah. But I was kind of hoping for a small miracle for this season
  5. We were told that they are waiting for a part from Intamin and it would be back up as soon as it is safe to do so. Hopefully that will be soon as I finally got my hubby to actually commit to riding it (his first time).
  6. Also on their website is the long awaited unlimited Fast Lane. Get your's before they take it down again
  7. Wait Bill. Does that make it a 300 ft aquatrax made by B&M? Lol
  8. You had me at "Coaster that's not as good as Skyrush" I love this new entrance area. When I went with some friends in the spring, we got there around opening and the security line was wayyy back up the hill you walk down into the entrance area, making us believe that we were in for a slammed park day, when it really didn't end up being very busy at all, it's just that they only had room for like 2-3 security checks across. Whoever said that "thrill seekers" and other people are going to visit would choose Chocolate World over Hersheypark or whatever, you're drunk. I don't really understand why anyone would care whether the rebuilt food stations/bar are inside or outside the park gate, especially if they won't let you walk around the park holding a drink anyway. If Starbucks is pre-gate, get it then go through security after. If the bar/restaurant ends up being pre-gate, just exit then re-enter when you're done? Also...didn't they file with the planning board a few months ago for an attraction "no more than 220 feet in height"? If those are accurate, that should put to bed any rumors about it being a Giga and not a hyper. It looks fun, but I'm most excited about it drawing people towards it instead of Skyrush. They actually have 6 or 7 security checks crammed in that tiny area! That's how insanely packed it gets in there. Also, yes there are FAA filings at 220 ft so no giga. And Bill also had me at coaster that is not as good as Skyrush
  9. I'm 40 something and have been going to the park since I was 2. That front plaza has been like that since I can remember. Complete with restaurant and stores. I don't get all the hoopla over these "new" things either. They've been there. I am excited to see the park grow and expand. It's long overdue.
  10. Robb you are correct. The Tudor Grill is now known as Hersheypark Place and hosts character meals. There are at least 2 gift shops outside the gate as well as a Dunkin'. I also think that this new complex will be accessible from both inside and outside the park. There are systems that can handle that situation.
  11. We were there yesterday for a few hours too. It was by far the worst crowd I've seen in a very long time.
  12. Thank you for entertaining me while I'm sitting at my daughter's dance class!
  13. It's better that no one mentioned it. I haven't seen a line that long since it opened. There was a boy scout camping weekend at the campground and they took over the park. I heard someone saying they waited 30 mins for dippin dots.
  14. If the permits being talked about are the FAA permits that have been floating around, they make no mention of manufacturer. Just that the attraction has a height of 220 ft. I'm curious to see where B&M was mentioned as well.
  15. Just a word of caution on Hershey's app. The wait times are not always accurate. There are many times that I'll walk across the park to hit Comet because the wait time says 10 or 15 minutes only to find an hour wait. Same with Fahrenheit. Even at the end of the day it is often 30 minutes minimum. That said, I still believe that the preview plus one weekday is plenty of time to enjoy the park.
  16. Those shakes are out of hand. 14 bucks (well worth it for the amount of stuff you get) and my 4 kids (2 teen boys and 2 younger girls) couldn't finish 1 that they were sharing. The flavors rotate at the stand near the carousel so you never know what will be offered there.
  17. Tip: 1. If you’re staying at a Hershey property take advantage of sweet start. Get 2-3 rides on Skyrush, Comet, superdoper looper, and Great Bear opens up 30-40 minutes after the Hollow/Hill coasters. 2. Keep the Hershey app ready it’s as valuable as a fast pass (the ride wait time is posted on the app). Hershey has very good loose article policy, including letting you bring half cup of soada into the station as long as you hide it in your pocket. 3. Get to Laugh Track early (the line will not go down), the same is usaly true for Great Bear. 4. Hershey only has a few lower height limit coasters so they tend to get way longer lines than you may expect. 5. If you go to the water park may god have mercy on your soul. Good luck. They are using a sunset entry not a full day. And my instinct as a passholder is no. You will not get all of that done on a sunset entry. Laff Trak and Fahrenheit will have 45 minute to an hour wait each. Great Bear could easily be a half hour. The coasters are spread across the park. I don't know what you consider to be major flat rides but the Claw can easily get a 45 minute wait at times as well. You can probably get the coasters with the exception of LT and Fahrenheit and a good many flat rides on a sunset entry. Our weather lately would help you if you are coming in the next week or so. There is rain forecast almost every day from now to eternity (at least that's how it feels after 2 solid weeks).
  18. Hershey is definitely not hurting in the attendance department. I was disappointed in the pricing as well though. I was hoping for more of a discount for re-newing early. I didn't get this year's passes until I for my tax refund so that was the most expensive price. If this increase is the most discounted price I hate to see what they will go to after the first of the year.
  19. My son and I decided to head over to the park this afternoon to see how the clean up went. My first observation was that I had made a huge mistake in forgetting that Lynyrd Skynyrd was in concert at the stadium tonight. Holy crowded! Once we made it into the park, we took the small path that runs along the creek under Skyrush. The only indication that anything had happened earlier this week was brand new mulch. The level of the creek was suspiciously low - the mechanics of the fountains under Skyrush were exposed. The only things that remained closed were the pizza place and creamery in the Hollow. The stone walls lining the creek running through that area also showed that the water level was very low. You could see about a foot and a half of darker stove that had obviously been submerged on a normal basis. All in all they did a fabulous job (as usual) of repairing any damage and making the park look amazing.
  20. Zach and Bill you have made my morning! And I completely agree with both of you! There's a reason that restraint is designed the way it is and sits the way it does. Phoenix is awesome for airtime. Go try that one.
  21. That is correct. This isn't a yearly thing in our area. The problem is that when it happens it is always bad. I believe I read somewhere that the plans for the expansion do address flood mitigation but I don't know the specifics.
  22. Hersheypark has reported via their Facebook page that they will re-open tomorrow at 10 a.m. with over 60 rides and attractions operating.
  23. Those shots of Skyrush don't do the flooding justice. I saw pics on our local news where the path on the left is completely flooded and there was mud covering the ground around the kiddie rides and Tilt-a-Whirl to the left of Comet.
