Photo TR: The Road To T.G.I. Friday's

Dammit! That's exactly where my mind was heading, but more along the lines of.. "That's not the only climax.." Whenever I come to TPR I'm reminded that I'm not the only one with my mind in the gutter. -

Awesome! I didn't think you took any pictures.. I'm thinking this report will get interesting as Cedar Point/TGIF approaches. That Toys r Us is awesome! I've been there a few times! And +1 for the Home Alone reference! -
TPR 2012 Tour Flyers, Details & FAQ!
Chrisrad replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
With the way Robb and Elissa plan the particular days on each trip, Q-Bots, ERT, and even more perks on top of that, you won't need to worry about crowds. In fact, you'll be laughing when you think of crowds or busy parks. Also, even if a park doesn't offer Q-bots (or the like), there will still be more than enough time to ride pretty much every coaster, and then some - whether it's more time at a particular park, special ERT just to get everyone on the ride, etc. -
First ever DL trip....
Chrisrad replied to outbackjack's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great comparisons! I've never been to DW, but I've been to Disneyland hundreds of times, and go at least every few weeks. I guess I'll just comment on a few things that caught my attention. Also, remember that DCA has been a 'mess' for a few years - construction walls are constantly shifting, parades have disappeared because of the walls, the entrance is brand new, yet the original 'main street' is now closed, etc.. I didn't see any comments about World of Color - did you see it? Since I've never been to DW, is that not something you'd see in Florida? I guess I just take Disneyland for granted since I go so often. I do know how often they refurbish areas/lands/etc. because there are seasonal construction walls that pop up all of the time all over the park. You know that it's a seasonal overlay, right? For some reason, when they add the overlay, it necessitates the need for fast passes, and creates long lines. I was on it yesterday and the gingerbread portion was awesome! Yeah, I saw that.. not sure what it was closed. It's definitely an immersive experience. Glad you got to go on the 'original' - while the trains are newer, they will be changed out soon. I'm pretty sure the new ones have lap bars and will not allow people to, um, cuddle. DCA As I said, it's a mess right now - pretty much a disaster if you've never been there before. The swings just re-opened on the open platform and used to be inside a big metal orange. And there would be buzzing during the ride cycle. Goofy's Sky School (the mouse) just reopened with new theming/paint, and will probably be replaced entirely in the future. For what it is, it works - it's heavily themed now with a Disney character, and used to be about Mulholland (someone who had a lot to do with CA). But anyway.. we still have Soarin', Grizzly River Run, CA Screamin (ok, it was closed while you were there), ToT, TSMM, etc. - there are some unique/quality rides. As a regular at DCA, I almost avoid the park for the time being - it's just not the best experience with all of the construction going on. Come back in a year or so and you'll be blown away. Toy Story is great! It always has a 45+ minute line, unless you go during WOC - it gets a little bit shorter at that time. I still can't figure out if I like it or not - I've been on it at least ten times. The Ariel AAs just creep me out. I agree - Cars Land will be insane! But I don't think it's supposed to be DL - if you've been to other parts of CA, you would understand everything at the park more. At the same time, Disney is changing all of that.. so I guess we'll have to wait to see how things turn out. -
What's the worst station you've been in
Chrisrad replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Any station that has stairs in the line: - A lot of rides at Disneyland - Apocalypse at SFMM - X2 - etc. Most B&M stations where there is no employee controlling the lines: (basically, any stations where chaos ensues) - Riddler - Batman - Scream - Riddler (it's worth mentioning twice.) - etc. Any station where you don't know where you are if you've never been on the ride before - Dragon at La Ronde (even though the loading station was right around the corner, I didn't know if we still had an hour to go, or five minutes). On that note, ANY station at La Ronde. -
Fellow Disney Nerd.. you did not inform me of this.. Glad I haven't been there lately - I would have been disappointed after finding out that CA Screamin' will be closed for so long. Oct. 15th? I guess I won't need to go to CA Adv until then, other than to get a WOC fix. Edit: As far as the loop track replacement, is it just a standard wear-and-tear issue, or were there any major issues with it?

Yeah, Revolution is really not that bad - just hold your head away from the OTSRs around certain curves; overall, it's a fun ride. With Viper, I still really enjoy it. There are some rough spots - the final corkscrews - but if you keep your head against the headrest so it doesn't jostle around, you'll be fine. Unless it's a boomerang or SLC (where there are clones at other parks), I would definitely give everything a shot at least once.

I get a kick out of the MS paint drawings. But based on westcoaster's pictures, and the google maps survey marker location, Knott's is definitely getting something - at this point, as long as it's a nice steel coaster that doesn't have inversions, but simply speed and hills, I'm happy.* *as long as it's not a Vekoma.

Yes, I know about El Toro and its awesomeness - had plenty of ERT on it. And no, not all of SFMM's rides are neutered, so I edited my response about rides in CA. I never said I didn't want the giga - I'm just saying that I'm tired of so many safety spiels, trim brakes, and redundant restraints when they are obviously not evident/required at other parks in the US. Sorry for taking it out on SFMM.

Awesome video! Did the girl in the video do that during park hours? I'm just wondering if a bunch of people asked her questions afterward.. that would have been awesome to get on film. As for the other site, I stopped posting their because they need a good TPR filter to get rid of whiny little tweens who live/breathe Disney and are offended when you say something bad about the place. This one cracked me up though:

They have to have at least some airtime to begin with - and more than the ever-so-noticeable pops on Apocalypse. When you have 18 coasters, and only one of them has airtime, that still doesn't count. Plus, it just seems like a lot of rides that would be insane anywhere else, are neutered with trims in CA, and the ride ops will probably staple people in.
