^ Nice to see you had a good time! I was there on Tuesday; my 4th time at Great Adventure. I share your thoughts when it comes to Kingda Ka and Nitro. Kingda Ka did have quite a bit of rattling, but that launch is so much fun just for the pure speed. And I freakin' love Nitro. This will sound really odd, but I almost feel like I could fall asleep on Nitro; not because it's boring, but because of how comfortable and smooth it is, IMO. I guess "graceful" would be a good term for it. It's like riding on a cloud... a cloud that drills you into the seat during that helix. Unfortunately, it experienced technical difficulties that had it down most of the day on Tuesday. Didn't get to ride it. Though I disagree about El Toro and I305 though. I'm a sucker for that first drop and the "OMFG hill" in the backseat. I'm still speechless by the end of the ride. What did you think of the other rides? Did you get to do SkyScreamer?

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
CoasterRollin replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe I just misheard something, but I swear this is what happened. I was flipping channels on TV until I came across NBCsports where I saw some guy talking about a bmx bike stunt (Red Bull challenge, trying to get 27 feet of air). At one point, he stated the rider would come down a ramp at 55mph and pull "3.8g's; more than on any rollercoaster." To which my immediate reaction was to blurt out "FALSE!" If someone else saw this, please tell me if I indeed misheard it. -
^ Agreed! And the park has A LOT to offer. I understand if you go there often; then you already know what you want to ride. But if it's your first time, just try to hit everything and don't worry about the order. As coasterfreak101 said, you can finish the whole park in one day, provided lines aren't terrible. Even if they are, flash pass works wonders. Totally worth the money, imo.

And what about the holiday week in general? I'm going on July 3rd and was wondering if it would be crowded (more than usual, anyway) by virtue of it being so close to July 4th. Of course, I'm prepared to pay for a Gold Flash Pass if need be, but it would be nice to not have to spend $168 for 3 people.

What is your next park?
CoasterRollin replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Tuesday, July 3rd: Six Flags Great Adventure! Think it will be crowded since it's so close to July 4th? Not that it's a huge deal if it is because I'm prepared to buy a Flash Pass, but I just want to see what others think. -
Haha, no kidding. The queue is completely hidden by the station. It's hard to get an idea of how long the line is without actually walking ALL THE WAY back there. I wouldn't say Wild One is really in a "bad" spot per say, but it sure is inconvenient to get to the station with that dead end. Same with Bizarro at SFGAdv, as donkeyman18 noted. And is it just me, or does Grizzly at KD have one of the most non-descript entrances? Unless you know what you're looking for (the big grizzly bear), it's hard to spot since the ride and queue line are pretty out of the way from the main path.

This. HotD was pretty awesome, lol. Right there with you. I was a big fan of Toonami back in the day, but recently I've been going on a binge. I think I've watched like 8 different series so far this year......

Haha, I feel you're pain, I really do. I kind of treat those situation like I'm speaking with someone who has uses a different dialect. For example, if someone were to ask me "are they running 2 cars on this", I would first bite my tongue, then nod and say "why yes, yes they are." I know what they mean, they know what they mean, and I can answer correctly. -
Secret Dangers of Amusement Parks?
CoasterRollin replied to chickenbowl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I thoroughly enjoyed that. I agree with what larrygator and DBru have been saying here. Assuming that people have the ability to think CRITICALLY, readers should realize that most of the dangers you could face at amusement parks are due to what DBru mentioned. I think this article points out that the "secret dangers of amusement parks" and "things to watch out for" are easily prevented or avoided. That in part makes the article sound silly, because sitting behind your computer, these "dangers" seem obvious or not even dangerous. But suddenly when you're at the park, you may or may not be thinking about these things (generally speaking). Though for coaster enthusiasts, I guess these things are obvious all the time. -

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
CoasterRollin replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's funny; this doesn't seem so much as GP nonsense as it does a coaster enthusiast trying too hard to show that he/she is one and then failing miserably. On the flip side, I personally don't think anyone is immune to lapses of ignorance or misinformation every now and then, so I can't blame them too much... I understand where you're coming from with that, but in truth, the Iron Wolf trains were Intamin/Giovanola during the first two years of operation (1990, 1991). I didn't know that... I rest my case about the ignorance comment, haha. But yeah, that makes sense since Bolliger and Mabillard used to work for Giovanola. -
^ I wish that I could say I've been on it. We're only supposed to use names of coasters we've ridden, correct?
-
E... MUST. BE. MORE. ORIGI-- El Toro - SFGAdv Dammit. Oh well, it's the only "E" I've been on.

^ Haha, I must say, I hope SFA is reads this thread and takes note of your ideas. Batwing is well... unfortunately placed. Not to mention everyone gets confused by the "entrance" that's never used. For anyone who doesn't know, they usually have a staff member (from what I've seen) posted out by a path leading to the station that says "entrance" to basically say "You can't enter here, go ALL THE WAY AROUND." Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's supposed to be the flash pass entrance. Though I haven't seen them use that side of the station in the past 2 years This the path most people mistake for an entrance... mostly because it's labeled as one. And dang, look at that sexy paint job. This was how it looked LAST year.

Anyone on here like anime or manga?
CoasterRollin replied to iluvalbinos's topic in Random, Random, Random
I only started getting into anime during my college days (aka right now). It had something to do with realizing that a lot of anime have complex themes and deeply emotional storylines that you just don't see in American cartoons because they are mainly directed towards children (then there are cartoons like the Legend of Korra, but that is another discussion for another topic). It's not just all the stereotypes many people normally associate with anime that make them call it "weird" or "childish." Yes, there are some completely ridiculous/weird/inappropriate anime out there, but that isn't the entire make up of the style. Anyway, enough of my philosophy. Among my favorites are: Cowboy Bebop Dragonball Z (this was a classic from the Toonami days of my childhood) Elfen Lied Guilty Crown Samurai Champloo Shiki Spice and Wolf Witchblade Wolf's Rain
