  1. There is a massive massive difference in attendance being up, and attendance being good and sustainable. It can go from total crap to kinda mostly crap attendance but still be crap attendance.
  2. I don't get why everybody is putting such a high price tag on B&M. Sure they can be very expensive, but they can also be reasonable. The best wing rider in the country (Xflight) carried a price tag of 12 million. Not that 12 million is cheap but it sure isn't the 40 million figure I've seen thrown out there. (For the record I don't think a beemer has ever cost 40 million)
  3. ^And Amusements Today Golden Ticket awards are hardly representative of any real enthusiasts opinions. Golden Ticket awards are a glorified marketing ploy that don't really represent any majority opinion.
  4. Yes its most popular amongst GP but in most enthusiast circles RB is a respected, but low rated ride. So for a discussion here, it is not a good bar to measure up to. B:TR, Viper are definatly better rides than RB.
  5. People fail to realize how far north Gurnee really is from Chicago, especially downtown.
  6. Count me as someone who does consider 921 feet to be close to 1000 feet.
  7. Now you are talking international markets which is a whole different game. And Indiana Beach and those parks, if you reach that far on your population circumference you're starting to talk about Nashville, St Louis even Chicago. Point is, Valleyfair is a great little park in a great but little market. And that CW is a freak of nature that you shouldn't compare to lol
  8. ^ I think you are confused on where Kings Dominion is. Try Virginia my friend.
  9. This color scheme seems to be a "thing" for cedar fair these days. Monster has the same yellow, yellow orange, orange cars. Interesting... I swear I saw it somewhere else recently too..
  10. It's foolish to assume a change in Valleyfairs attendance would have any impact on Cedar point. Cedar Fairs job is to operate the parks according to the market they are in. That's it.
  11. That sir, is a very ambitious trip. Are you driving everywhere? If so that opens up a lot of park hopping opportunity for you, but that also would be insane given that you plan on doing both coasts. Disney is a given, especially if you've never been to any disney park before. And then there's Cedar Point. Not that its the best park by any means, but a trip to CP seems like the one "must-do" for every enthusiast. Good luck with your travels sir, and might I strongly suggest stopping by Chicago!
  12. ^The best part about this whole mess is what they were arguing about on that phone call, CP's 2010 Rock Band Live addition.
  13. Nice! I love me some Flower and Garden and Food stuffs show. I'm really sad last year i missed out on so much of the food. Ended up one night leaving only for my mom to say she was hungry and we ended up at a Friendly's. FAIL. Anyways, while we are talking about EPCOT, this little nugget of news dropped today. For the follow up to the last Disney Parks Marvel comic tie in (Seekers of the weird) they released this teaser today...
  14. Gurnee is reporting a total of 18 inches of snow! And now with the temp dropping (High of -10 monday with wind chills near -45) construction might slow down a little bit.
  15. Off point parking, tear down Breakers express, use that plot of land for your off point parking structure, put in place a way to get guests to and from the park (Either bus, monorail, or go back to old school park roots and ferry them, or all three) Replace your lost hotel rooms with a new Hotel on point ect...
  16. Off Point parking. Not saying, but just saying. It should happen.
  17. Something tells me these aren't refurbished cars, perhaps new ones... like 32 or so new ones...
  18. Keep calm, what is to be surely an unexpected addition awaits (don't get too excited though) hopefully the announcement is soon!
  19. For the record American Thunder is also a clone (I believe it's older sister is somewhere in Europe) Boss and Screaming Eagle are the only truly original rides in park. OK techincally RK is unique but it's just another Arrow mine ride, same with ninja. Not to hate on either of those rides just saying once you've ridden one mine/Arrkoma looper you've ridden them all. ANYWAYS my point being is that it would be great to see this park get a brand new coaster with a unique layout. Here's how parks evaluate a rides worth. They take all of the costs, maintenance, labor, electric, ect. They then take that number and divide it by its turnstile count. This makes both capacity and popularity a factor, not just a straight up dollar amount. This gives the park a dollar amount per guest that rode. It's this number that they judge a rides value from, so as you can see its much more complicated then "freeze costs a lot to run so they should get rid of it". Freezes cost per guest amount is likely to be at least at or below ninjas, due to ninjas low ridership numbers. Just saying
  20. Yeah this seems odd. It would make more sense to have a spinning unit inside of a raft. Like a tea cup that rotated inside if the raft, rather than trying to spin the whole raft.
  21. Has it been officially confirmed that RC is leaving and that SFA is not getting a new mouse with the same theme?
  22. At first glance I thought the same thing but in certain shots you can clearly see that it is topper track.
  23. I got it, its going to be the Illinois Giant! or the Chicago Giant, or the Gurnee Giant... Or maybe it will be the Iron Bobs.
  24. I'm sorry, but where did the 180 clue come from? I'm not seeing anything like that on their twitter. Maybe I'm just blind lol
