  1. We don't really get real thunderstorms here...in fact since I moved out here I've seen them shut down rides/slides due to lightning ONCE. Elissa "very different from my Florida parks!" Alvey
  2. ^Is that like Tylenol #9 or something??? I know Tylenol with codine is only #3! loodshot: Elissa "Mmmm Tylenol #3" Alvey
  3. Honestly I really don't know how many times I've been in the hot seat...let's say more than 5 in each version, less than 20. The advice I always give (and I've gotten many people in the hot seat...EVEN ROBB!!!) is just to press that button like there's no tomorrow! You literally have to "vibrate" on it! I don't really have any memorable experiences...Robb has a good one though that maybe he'll share! Honestly I kind of got out of it a bit...it really wrecked my nerves every time! I hated being the center of attention! Elissa "seriously ask my friends and family, I love to play, but hate to get in the hot seat!" Alvey
  4. Here's how I would group them: Six Flags Darien Lake Martin's Fantasy Island Seabreeze Marineland PCW Conneaut Lake Park/Waldameer Kennywood Park Idlewild Lakemont/Delgrossos Six Flags Great Adventure Dorney Park Hersheypark Knoebels Williams Grove/Dutch Wonderland Lake Compounce/Quassy Six Flags New England The Great Escape Maybe La Ronde or Funtown/Splashtown or Canobie Keep in mind these are not the ORDER to hit the parks, there are additional parks you could hit, and you'd need some more detailed planning. Elissa "Hope this helps!" Alvey
  5. At the beginning of each year we try and figure out which parks we'll be hitting (kind of a general plan and idea of wish list parks and definites) then based on that we'll decide if we need passes or not. For example last year we didn't get Paramount Passes because we knew we would only hit 1 or 2 Paramount parks if that so it didn't pay. We pretty much always get the Six Flags passes just cause you can't spit without hitting a six flags park! We went a year without Busch Passes...now we're going at least a year without Disneyland passes (but we have Disneyworld!). I used to have a Wild Adventures Pass and we considered buying those this year because of Cypress Gardens being included but decided against it after seeing Cypress Gardens! Here's a list of the passes we'll have this year: Six Flags - Hit at least 3 different SF parks and we have one down the street! :crying: Cedar Fair - Hit Knotts with the kids a few times and a quick run into Dorney Disney World - Renewed our Wedding passes and have already gotten our money's worth out of them! Busch/Sea World - They had a great deal for 2 parks/2 Years so we went for it! Plus stupid Shakira is opening so we'll go! Universal Florida - Robb needs his fill of Balsamic Chicken Universal Hollywood - heck it was only $48 for 18 months! As for visiting parks... We ALWAYS try and be at a park before opening, that's the least busy time of the day. We then do our driving at night, so if we're done with a park we move on, if not we'll stay till close. Elissa "there are very few parks I can spend 12 consecutive hours in!" Alvey
  6. We usually try to find one or two parks we're interested in visiting (maybe they have something new, something weird, or we just really like the park and want to go back!) and then try to create a trip around it to hit a few more parks in the area. Elissa "and sometimes we drop tea leaves in boiling water and go where they tell us" Alvey
  7. http://www.rcdb.com/quicksearch.htm?quicksearch=mexico There are some decent ones at La Feria also in Mexico City. Elissa "damn no credits near any of the cruise ports!" Alvey
  8. Robb's obsessed with Donkeys! Maybe because they're an ass like himself! I think it's just to stress that you can really ask or talk about anything you want! Elissa "sorry I don't have a better answer!" Alvey
  9. We're happy to answer that! We want people to be able to travel as much as we do and we think that many of you can! First off - We both have full time jobs to make the money! Secondly - Roller Coasters are our hobby, meaning we don't spend much money on other stuff. We don't buy DVD's, we don't go out to eat more than once or twice a week (including lunches at work and weekend dinner dates!), we don't see movies in the theaters, we don't have expensive tv channels, I turn off lights in our apartment and set the thermostat accordingly...in other words, we're careful with our money! Lastly the trips themselves - We usually go with other people to share costs, we research airfares and book only when they are VERY low, we priceline rental cars, stay at cheap motels, don't buy many souvenirs, etc. As for time off, Robb is very established at his job and has about 4-5 weeks of vacation a year, I work hourly and take "unpaid time off" once my vacation days and comp days are gone. Hope this helps! Don't be afraid to ask us for help planning your next trip, we do it for our friends and family all the time! Elissa "See, Ask Alvey, get an answer!" Alvey
  10. If the weather stays bad there will be no one there. If it improves there should still be pretty light crowds. Elissa "hope this helps" Alvey
  11. I think Europa Park had a pretty good one if I remember correctly...very much a Disney ripoff, but that made it quite interesting! Elissa "there are so many awesome Disney ripoffs in Europe!" Alvey
  12. Honestly, if it gets OTSR's like Storm Runner/Rita it will still be way better than Perilous Plunge! Elissa "much, much better load times!" Alvey
  13. Six Flags The Great Escape sounds more like what I try to do whenever someone comes to visit and we have to go to the park! Elissa " " Alvey
  14. Actually SFMM is much better than Knotts in running the rides in the rain...it's usually more the fault of all the ride ops that just don't show up if it's raining outside! The SoCalers really don't like rain! Elissa "good luck!" Alvey
  15. Hmm, this is hard because I change my mind daily! Keep in mind these are top 5, and all shift around these spots! Wood: 1. Phoenix 2. Colossos (Heide) 3. Grand National 4. Viper/Aska 5. Dania Beach Hurricane Steel: 1. Expedition Ge Force 2. S:RoS (SFNE) 3. Dueling Dragons 4. Storm Runner 5. S:RoS (SFA) Elissa "god that was hard!" Alvey
  16. Also be aware that the weather isn't supposed to be the greatest. That can cause some problems. Adding to the list of coasters that will more than likely be closed: Deja Vu and Ninja. If I didn't have to go the next 3 weekends I'd meet up with you! Heck if it's raining and entertaining I still might go! Elissa "8 hours will be more than enough!" Alvey
  17. They need to let adults on their kiddie coaster! Elissa "stupid kiddie credit!" Alvey
  18. Burgandy Long Sleeve Shirt Booty Queen Underwear (different pair, I have many!) Elissa "Fredericks was having a sale!!!" Alvey

I think you mean the ones where it tells you if there are new posts or not? Maybe someone can explain them better. Elissa "flashy means new posts I think!" Alvey
  20. Yeah, should we think about doing a meet or something for Dave!??! Elissa "Meet Dave, Win a Prize!" Alvey
  21. And some of us just have a natural knack for it! :dork: My first POV ever was Shockwave at Drayton Manor on my 2nd ride! My 2nd POV ever was my first ride on Expedition Ge Force! :scared: Elissa "they both turned out pretty decent as you see in the videos!" Alvey
  22. ^ Do you really live in Celebration! We were there in December trying to find where the lake was where all the people died!!! I really like that place, it looks so nice! Elissa "yeah, we were bored of the parks!" Alvey
  23. It was a set up! Actually we'd been friends for awhile and after some time it developed into more...not really that exciting of a story! For a better story, you should ask about what happened the first time I met Dave! Elissa "I'm going to try and think of a better one now!" Alvey
  24. Scott, We thought you were like a more flamboyant version of Derek!!!! Elissa "Now ask what our opinion is of you now!" Alvey
  25. We're totally going to plan some meets and post about our trips here so people can meet up with us. As for going on trips with us...we usually hang out with someone a few times before committing to go on a trip together. It's a big deal and undertaking to take someone on a trip so we have to really feel comfortable with them. Using the "Quaker" as an example...We met him at PPP in 02, hung out with him the next day at SFGAd, saw him a few months later at some of the California parks, met him again at SRM 03, he came to our wedding with his Mom in November of 03, then he started going on trips with us! Elissa "start hanging out with us and you could be the next Quaker!" Alvey
