Parc Asterix Discussion Thread
SharkTums replied to sebastienstuff's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Two things. 1 - Olivier, come on, it's so obviously the same as Montu!!! 2 - It totally doesn't matter, as others have said. It's a great theme, and hopefully it will be a good ride. Most of the GP doesn't know what Montu is, and the few that have visited Florida and ridden Montu won't even realize or care. -
Mitch Hawker 2011 Wood Coaster Poll!
SharkTums replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I knew there was a reason we got along well on the TPR Trips this summer! ^^I have Apocalypse at 27. Which I believe is knocked down a spot or two from last year since the park gave up on the theme, music, and hasn't taken the best care of the ride and trains. Still at a pretty good spot though. -

SFMM trip - suggestions for a cheap hotel?
SharkTums replied to GCS's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sylmar is a worse area (more crime, wouldn't leave my car overnight in some of those hotel parking lots), and farther from the park. Castaic is better than Sylmar, but North of the park so out of your way and not as nice as Valencia. -

Just an FYI - The Motel 6 is in Sylmar, NOT Valencia. -

SFMM trip - suggestions for a cheap hotel?
SharkTums replied to GCS's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you use Priceline or Hotwire, you can probably find something decent around the $65 - $75 mark. May be a bit more since it's a Friday night during peak season. Any of the hotels at the Lyons Exit or the SFMM Exit are fine. I would NOT recommend going to Castaic (north of the park) or Sylmar (south of the park). -

^^^&^^^^ EXACTLY!!!! I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape over skip the line programs. It's no different than anything in our capitalistic society. You pay more, you get more. There is no issue here! I can't WAIT to use this system on our TPR Trip this summer and get it for all of our trip participants! The only thing that could be better is if LoQ takes it over! -
It's crazy just how little snow they've gotten! I hope the conditions are better this Christmas as it looks like we'll be heading out again!

Something else that makes this Exotic Driving Experience tower over all the other competitors out there is that you don't have to show proof of insurance, buy some crazy policy, or leave a credit card with a $10k limit which a lot of those other ones do! You pay a flat $35 which absolves you from ANY damage or wear and tear to the car. So you spin out on a corner and crash the car into the wall, no worries! The only caveat to that is INTENTIONAL damage. So don't try to test out the Ferrari's airbags by crashing into a wall on purpose, cause then you're on the hook!

Just in case anyone hasn't heard, AVOID THE MAGIC KINGDOM AT ALL COSTS ON THURSDAY! President Obama will be giving a closed speech on Main Street which will result in all of Main Street (including shops/eateries) closed from opening till mid-afternoon. I can only imagine what Bag Check will look like!
