West Coast Bash 2012! TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
SharkTums replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think Enterprise might have been one of the companies to rent young? -
Answering a couple of things here... Shawn - My parents like Princess a lot, but it skews a LOT older. You will be some of the youngest people on the ship, and most activities are done before 10pm. The ships are nice, but don't have as much as Celebrity or Royal Caribbean or even Carnival. Celebrity is VERY nice, and I can understand why it's pricing higher. Be aware and do your research before booking a San Juan cruise. Not going to type cast an entire group of people, but well, just look up San Juan cruises and you'll see what I'm talking about. Giga - Sorry you don't like it, but they are the parent company! Deal with it! Swimmin - That's really not related to the accident at all. A lot of time the cruise lines post insane fares and then say how they're discounting them so much. That's pretty much what their site and prices always look like. I've been checking our current cruises and none have gone down in price.

^But you also just answered your same question. Those parks both have GCI's and they're like an hour apart! It doesn't really matter to the GP. -
The "GP" of Theme Parks Facebook Thread!

^No they're not. We've had to ban one of their members from our events after he was caught taking illegal POV at SFMM during West Coast Bash! -

I believe the current rumor for that empty spot they're clearing at Phantasia is a GCI Woodie. Seems a bit odd, with Europa getting one not too far away, but they seem to be very popular so why not? -
My initial thought as well! Seriously though, based on what has been said/reported, here is my slightly educated opinion as to what happened. Issue with power/electronics/etc. causes ship to wander off course without too much notice due to Captain and crew. Ship hits rock and rips open gash Titanic Style. Multinational crew and Italian officers have issues coordinating evacuation and passengers who had not yet completed a muster drill don't know what to actually do (no one bothers to call a mayday either). When the full extent of what's happening is realized, the captain makes the smart move of steering the ship towards the shore to try and save people that he knows will end up in the water. This will be fascinating to follow and find out what really happened!

Does Thorpe open for Winter Half Term or whatever you crazy Brits call it? I wonder if they could have this open as early as next month? If not, at least it clearly looks to be ready for opening day! -
^That's actually *VERY* interesting. If true, and there was a power failure that led to this that would be another Carnival Power Failure. Remember the ship off of California last year?!?! This particular Costa ship was a 'Conquest' Ship Build, the Carnival Splendor (California FAIL ship) was a slightly modified bigger version.
-
It is slightly disconcerting that this can happen, but I'm sure it will come out as human error when everything is checked and researched. It's more *interesting* that things like this seem to happen a lot more within the Carnival Brand of ships. Now granted, they have a ton of ships, but still, come on Italian dudes, get it together! It must have been terrifying on the ship, especially once the power went off. I can't think of anything in recent times that compares to this. The Star Princess (big fire) comes close, but only killed one and it didn't freaking SINK!!!!

^I don't think the parks will be annoying or raise prices at all. It's more the hotel and transport issue that will get messed up. -

Not this year. Staying away from your country and Olympic Annoyances! Maybe 2013, more likely 2014. -
