I remember watching the weather get worse and worse as we traveled the mere 681 miles on the bullet train in just a few hours...luckily it all worked out and we got kick ass food too! I have a love/hate relationship with all of these Japan Trip Reports, I love them, but then I hate them cause I want to be back there right now!!! -
Leviathan Bash! Canada's Wonderland
SharkTums replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would really stress, that any of you thinking of going to this event who are not locals, look into the Leviathon Trip! It includes this full day and much more! Just email if you have any questions! -
^With those restraints (time and public transport only), it's going to be tough to hit more than one park. I would just go to Europa, hopefully (depending on what time you actually get there and what time you need to leave by) you can get all the credits at least? It's kind of doing a disservice to Europa to treat it like that, but if you have the chance to see the park you should!

^Exactly! The Leviathon trip isn't much longer than a long weekend! Come up and hit some great parks with some great people! -

Fun TR! Interesting to see SL coaster ripped out, I'm sure the replacement will be better as that coaster was just kind of 'meh'. -

^^Werner, I think that was my most painful roller coaster (weather pain, not Vekoma pain) ride ever! I imagine it felt about the same as getting a cheap microderm abrasion! -

Looks like an awesome group is already shaping up! It will be great to see a lot of you that couldn't swing a trip this year, or are on a different trip! Also, we're so popular in Canada I've had two hotels courting our group! So once signups get going, I'll give out some information if you want to stay at the same hotel as the TPR Trip group. -

Interesting little park. Seems like a traveling fair that just decided to stop one day and then added some permanent buildings. I like seeing all the kiddie rides though! -

Other than Fuji-Q, the only bummer about Japan is the rain policy at the majority of the Japanese parks. It's like a Cedar Fair rain policy! I don't understand in a country that's so amazing and so efficient, and will run coasters in the snow, they don't run them in the rain! The one explanation we were able to get at one point is that it's not even a safety issue, but a comfort issue. They don't want guests being pelted by rain and getting all wet. The Japanese people seem not to like to get wet judging from the amount of umbrellas used, and aren't as stupid as we are to NEED to get coaster credits in the rain! That all being said, I can't wait to see the next installment which shows me using my broken Japanese to get us on a credit in the rain! -

^We flew a few different Chinese carriers for internal flights while in China and I was pleasantly surprised each time. I mean, when it comes down to it, I don't see how they could be much worse than the US Carriers at this point!! -
Guys, NKOTB have been doing cruises for a bunch of years now!!!! Seriously though, I've heard mixed things about the 'theme/celebrity' cruises. They're always priced a lot higher than normal and some of them involve very little interaction with the theme/celebrity. It's definitely something to do your research on first.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
SharkTums replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yeah, Wildcat and Gwazi were both rough with the PTC's and just as bad after getting new trains. Edit: I wonder if Holiday World has gone back and done a cost analysis to see if it would have been worth it to go for an Intamin or Rocky Mountain style woodie after all of these maintenance costs. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
SharkTums replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^ ^ I think people are speaking from prior experience and park Q&A's around the country. It's a known fact that those PTC's chew up the track and spit it out with little remorse. This is quite disappointing if only for the reason listed above...one season with PTC's will undue all that great track work. -
We are planning our bash schedule for the Summer and should have it out next month. Hershey may not be in the cards this year, but we have other East Coast locations that we're planning on!

^&^^ Very interesting to hear, I thought the restraints were very similar to the Flyers? Those seem to squish the fatties in pretty well. I worry about bringing this coaster to two parks in the US if the restraints are that difficult for Europeans!!! -

Two of these aren't even opened yet, let's hold off on this poll until much more into the coaster season. Thanks. -

^^With what you mentioned there's no way she'd be able to get on Colossus. Depending on proportions she may be able to fit in the larger seats of Nemesis Inferno or maybe Swarm but it's not for sure. I've seen some large women get into the restraints that are on Stealth, but again, without knowing her proportions and other rides with exactly the same harness, you won't know till you try. -

Is it time to go back to Japan yet? Thanks for posting this Divv, even if it is a little late, I always like to see trip participants' take on a trip! -

GTITS has been known for some time...there's just no reason to talk about this park. At this point I'd put more money on Hard Rock reopening with running coasters than this park. If anything I see this park reopening as just a park, and no 'real' rides. -
Very similar to Royal Caribbean system. The weirdest thing was when we got the debarkation information it said the EARLIEST you could get off the ship was 8am. Having been on so many cruises I found this VERY odd and told my group to be ready to go at 7:45am (we had people in my car that needed to get to work and school). At 7:15am they announced the first group could leave!?!?
