  1. Don't worry, the lulz wasn't directed at any particular person.
  2. ^Fuck you, you're a cunt. ...sorry, just being an ass.
  3. Two things I wish: 1. I wish it were always possible to find out whether a ride at a park or carnival allows single riders. Always, no exceptions. Both online and at the park (especially online, of course). It's annoying when a ride list says singles aren't allowed on one ride (usually the Zipper), but you know they aren't allowed on others also. 2. I wish it were the norm for ride staff to find partners--I've heard of people getting turned away before. I know the rider can do this also, but it's always reassuring when a sign says the staff will try to take care of it for you. Also, if it were the norm, you could just walk into any line and not have to worry, and just get held aside for a few minutes. That way you could avoid talking to strangers. The first one is unlikely because the number of people who would care is probably not enough to make this kind of change worth it. Also, I suppose the wording could seem slightly negative. The second I'm assuming is unlikely because it's just another responsibility in an already busy, challenging job. I have absolutely no problem with solo trips in general, and coasters usually aren't affected by this rule. However, this is one very good reason to go on social trips, especially with people who will ride anything.
  4. This thread is full of lulz.
  5. ^Sometimes if you re-evaluate your priorities deeply/often enough, you can eventually convince yourself to downgrade. On the clothing topic... I've realized that just because cheaper in price=cheaper materials does not mean something is going to fall apart in 2 weeks or that the people around me are going to judge me for it. Also, people always point out that you replace more expensive items less frequently, but on the other hand, once you finally need to replace a cheap item, you're probably ready to do so financially since it's cheap. So you may technically be "losing" money, but it may not matter to you. Also, there are so many different variations in taste and fashion sense in the world--I've realized I don't have to meet the highest standards, or even the average. I may look strange in some settings, but I've chosen not to care most of the time.
  6. House of Mirrors -- Insane Clown Posse
  7. I know I'm just being silly, but I can't help but be entertained by that quote.
  8. I am totally sure someone else can explain this better, but I'll try. Your legs bounce around, and at one point may fly outside of the area of the seat and get knocked against the outside, which is pretty painful. (Not sure if that sounds dangerous, but it isn't.)
  9. No, because the only way I would have would have* been to go to the Cinco de Mayo carnival, and I didn't feel I could afford it at this time. (It's a very small carnival, anyway, and I can go to others with the same rides + more.) *Couldn't think of how to word that properly.
  10. ^I've also heard that they believe a major steel coaster wouldn't fit their family-friendly image. Not sure if that's two interpretations of the same quote, or two different quotes. About Pilgrim's also being tall and steel, I think that's different because I would imagine flumes and shoot-the-chutes probably seem more "approachable" to the average family than many steel coasters would, regardless of the fact that Pilgrim's is larger and more "extreme".
  11. Only because someone else revisited this thread...I certainly wouldn't bring it back just for this... Coasters I voted for Steel: 0 Wood: 16 Coasters I have ridden to date Steel: 2 Wood: 21 I would've been a contender for the lowest score!
  12. I like your overall idea but I think they would definitely need to offer that. Otherwise people will "catch on" (not that I'm saying SF would try to keep it a secret, but you know what I mean) that they're paying for something that they don't actually benefit from. I think that's why a lot of people prefer to have the parking separate even though it can seem like an annoying "extra" you have to keep in mind every time you plan a visit.
  13. OK then, I guess the disturbing thing is not that I do it, but that I personally take it way too far! Okay here's something else I have done before (not saying how many times): I have sucked bacon grease out of paper towels.
  14. This is actually really disgusting and disturbing, whether it sounds like it or not. But I like chocolate Nesquik, dry, straight out of the box.
  15. ^I'm not sure how I feel about the diagnoses of these conditions, so I won't get into that. But I personally like the term "differences". It's all-encompassing; it can include people who know they're outside what seems to be the norm, but don't fall into a diagnosable condition. I guess that's similar to "quirks" for you.
  16. Honestly, I've heard more than once that if you think you have it, that means you probably don't.
  17. I was just about to ask if the Huss Jump 2 is related to the Huss Jumping...upon further research, it is--"Jumping" is AKA "Jump". I should've just assumed the obvious in the first place. So Jump 2 is basically a floorless/inverted Jump. Which, by the way, is a decent ride, but not as amazing as I would've hoped. But then again, it doesn't look quite as impressive in the first place as a Jump 2, so I guess it's less likely to be a disappointment.
  18. Always make sure you're aware of what's on your page before adding your parents on Facebook. Yeah, I know that's supposed to be common sense.
  19. Somehow I was never able to put that in words myself, but I totally agree. That's probably the one advantage to ending up in that outside seat. Some notes on the original trip report: RR definitely met my expectations as well. Solid ride. I agree, Tatsu definitely has the most intimidating lift possible! Viper wasn't the most memorable coaster for me, but I agree about the hangtime. And yeah, Scream! does have decent forces. I rank X2 in the opposite position as you, but actually have many similar feelings--the psychological aspect is very well-executed, and it is pretty darn rough (I just don't mind that much). In my case, though, I almost feel the hype enhanced my positive feelings for the ride. (Don't worry, not in an overly shallow way!) I guess it's the feeling of sharing an experience that's considered above and beyond most other coasters. I will say though, I kind of get the feeling that if I rode it enough it would seem more in line with more standard coasters.
  20. I'm just relieved that this article is about a temporary condition and not about hearing loss! I'm already losing my hearing--I actually have been for a few years, I think. So as a theme park visitor, I was a bit scared to check this out, for fear that my hobby could have a negative effect on this already unfortunate situation. Thankfully that was unwarranted. Now I'll have an extra incentive to keep my head forward and back on the rides. I definitely always try to respect the rules, but on the other hand I don't always pay attention to how my body is positioned at any specific instant--sometimes I look around.
  21. ^That's interesting. I've heard much of the exact same information before, but it was in a more "negative" light--reasons not to get a chinchilla. This made me think they were very challenging and high maintenance, and wouldn't work out for many people. (Note that the person was standing up for the welfare of chinchillas, not "complaining".) I guess in reality, the deal is you need to actually know all this info before getting a chinchilla, but if you do know it and are prepared for it, you'll probably be fine. (Re-reading what I just wrote, I realize this is actually the same for all pets.) Well it was nice to hear a success story after all these years!
  22. ^Don't worry, my mouth is big enough for it to fit. hahahahahaha
  23. Don't tease me like that. In all seriousness, while I would love Silverwood to get an(other) "OMFG Amazing" ride, it seems many fans of the park would rather see them go a more "family" route, with something like a spinner and an expanded selection of flat rides. While I know next to nothing about the logistics/practicality, I vote for any mid-sized park on the west coast! SFDK, CGA, KBF... ^My train of thought is similar, but who knows if that's even the void Knott's needs to fill from their standpoint.
  24. Yes, I voted for him twice as I am registered as a Democrat. Have you ever won an election?
