These are from that Boycott CF group. The people in that group are as bad as the FP haters here if not worse. -
Jon's 2012 Coaster Season - WI State Fair
netdvn replied to deathbydinn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
X-Flight is definitely one of the coolest looking rides this year. That keyhole element is one of the coolest looking elements I've seen on a coaster ever. After hearing reviews of how fun Wild Eagle was, I've definitely got both wing coasters on my list of must-rides in the future. -
Got bit by 5 or 6 mosquitoes at work over the weekend. My arms are covered with itchy bumps.

The chair swings are actually 40" but anyone around that height has to sit on an inside seat and wear a seatbelt. 48" is the height requirement to ride alone. That being said, I fully support BGW lowering Verbolten's height limit, especially when the park already not only has two major rides with a 48" height requirement, but 48" being the height requirement to ride alone on many of the other rides. Maybe adding seat belts will help lower the height limit (although I personally don't think seatbelts are really necessary on a ride like Verbolten when rides like Scorpion don't need them).

Chuck's Busch Gardens Williamsburg Thread

As far as I know, the launches only act as blocks in the case of emergencies/breakdowns. The actual blocks are the brake runs scattered throughout the ride. I believe the ride will relaunch itself in the event of a rollback. That seems more likely to happen on the bridge than going into the event building. -
Yellow train is still down for maintenance. I have no idea when the train will be added. Rode Verbolten with the lights off/effects on for the first time yesterday. I had the thunderstorm storyline and it was definitely better than it was with the lights on. Ride was still the same, but the experience was definitely enhanced. My favorite scene was the cool perspective shot into the forest after the first brake run. Some notes - Line was an hour Friday, a bit longer when I left on Saturday. - I spotted some awesome theme park shirts yesterday and today including someone in an ACE shirt. I also spotted X-Flight, a Maverick shirt, two Dollywood shirts (including a Mystery Mine shirt), plenty of Disney shirts, a few I305/232 shirts, and I encountered someone with a SWO shirt twice today along with some classic BGW shirts. - The phone calls in Gunther's office are awesome. Gerta's laugh however is another story. Also BGW is holding a Team Member ride night on Wednesday and I can invite one guest. If you want to attend, please try to PM as soon as you can (preferably before tomorrow). If you plan on visiting the park tomorrow, I'll give you the guest ticket there. Included is ERT on Verbolten, ERT on Mach Tower, free food, fun, and possibly a t-shirt as well.

24 hours at home and I already miss being on a cruise. Might as well start planning next year's trip now. I can't wait for this weekend though.

Nothing is essentially "blocked" per se (outside of the drop track and the various elements hidden behind curtains) and you can see the theme elements quite well. The effects don't seem to work when the lights are on though so you don't get a complete experience like you would if the lights were off. The park doesn't have any other props outside of the ones you can see in the dark.

Game - Guess this coaster...

Montezooma's Revenge -
I had the liberty of riding both V-bolt and Cheetah Hunt in the same week. CH had a rattle, but I felt V-bolt's was a bit more severe. If anything, V-bolt rattled like Sheikra did (and it did have a noticeable rattle). Anyway, let's get to the comparison. Ride-wise - CH has the edge with the zero-g roll and the pops of airtime throughout the ride. Other than that, both aren't too intense, and both have good transitions. CH's OTSRs will dig into your shoulders if you raise your hands in the air, so I don't recommend trying that too often. Theming-wise - Verbolten takes the cake. Even though both parks reused old stations, BGW definitely pulled out all the stops while BGT sorta kept most of the good theming outside. The Cheetah Run exhibit is pretty nice although the cheetahs were sleeping when I was there. As for V-bolt, I didn't get the full effect going through V-bolt's show building (I was lucky enough to ride with the lights on), but what I've seen so far has impressed me. The floating tunnel still bugs me greatly though. Fun factor - Both coasters are great additions and both coasters are very fun to ride. I'd put the fun factor at a draw. Overall - Cheetah Hunt is more intense with its zero-G roll and pops of airtime, but Verbolten's theming really gives it the edge to beat out CH. Either way both parks got big winners.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
netdvn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A suspended coaster like the Big Bad Wolf still has aggressive transitions plus the swinging trains, which adds stress to the ride. Steel coasters will last as long as parks are willing to maintain them, much like wooden ones. -
When the ride is running, you feel the train shuffling more than it should (you'll usually feel this on steel coasters).

I heard BGW employee preview has been postponed. Can you confirm or let us know what is happening with the ride? Since today in not an operating day, how does the staff preview work? Does BGW announce it to employees and anyone interested shows up on their day off to ride Verbolten? Regards, RIP... As far as I know/can say, the coaster has been having typical new ride issues as of late, so the preview has been pushed back. As for preview announcements, they are announced and whoever wants to ride comes in to ride.

Six Flags Florida Escape [RCT3]
netdvn replied to goldiehound's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Just throwing this out there, but the original three Six Flags parks were based off of the "six flags" that flew over each state that a park was located in. the themes really aren't as generic as they are today. If you're going for an Orlando area theme, I'd recommend adding some palm trees/trees found in that area of the world. While the park is an OK start, it would really benefit from doing research. The parachute/flume/mine train combo is pretty spot on so far. -
TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index
netdvn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry if this sounds stupid/repetitive, but do the maps have to be resized as well? I do have a number of maps (and maybe some other stuff) that I could contribute to the index. -
So I brought my camera to BGW for the first time last weekend. Little did I know that the battery was low so I had to rush to as many different areas and squeeze as many pictures as I could into a short time frame. I managed to cover a decent portion of the park, but unfortunately for me, many of the pictures I took came out blurry. Since I plan on bringing my camera to the park a lot more during the season, I decided to just cut this TR short and select my personal favorite shots I took. No Verbolten pics this time. Other than a few details here and there (and the trains running), not much was going on there anyway. I planned on taking some V-bolt pics but I figured there weren't enough Mach pics to go around. I also snagged AC's train. I love how this park is so photogenic. Even in crappy weather. This bridge looks pretty nice from the old smoking area. I'm glad they opened it up to nonsmokers. Next up... Griffon tears up the sky. This would look so much better with the sun beating down. I bet you've never seen this shot before... The station looks great from the gift shop. Am I in a theme park or a street corner? Nessie and Griffon. You can spot Alpengeist if you look carefully enough I bet you've never seen this shot before I tried to get a good shot of Mach/LNM, but the "battery low" message kept ruining it. I was originally gonna use this as my temporary FB banner, but the LNM loop shot won out. Thanks for reading!

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
netdvn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
HP's maps really aren't that bad. There are FAR worse map designs out there. -
Line should be about 3-5 hours depending on how early you arrive/how many people beat you to the punch. I don't think QQ will be implemented for the first few weekends because that's when everyone wants to ride. The lines should be a bit more reasonable the following Sunday (since Sundays aren't too bad with crowds). Lines should be reasonable (if not a little long) during June weekdays. Around mid-July, the lines shouldn't be bad at all.

Verbolten update: Ride was testing around 4. The last drop looks a little on the slow side. The park wasn't too crowded today (mostly school groups) so there weren't too many people stopping on the bridge to see it. Launches look pretty sweet though. Oh and I saw some costumed actresses running around the Oktoberfest area. I'm thinking this has something to do with what the park has planned for the summer. I'll be at the park pretty much all day tomorrow so stop by and say hey. Sunday I'm gonna try to get pics.

Miami Miracle Mile [RCT2]
netdvn replied to Thx1138's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I'll say some of the buildings are a bit plain and the area is lacking in scenery, but those high rise buildings are impressive! You captured the art deco-ness of Miami pretty well. Non-theme park RCT projects are always a ton of fun to look at and see expand. Love the Howard Johnson's too. I didn't expect to see one of those in here.
