Six Flags Over Texas (SFOT) Discussion Thread
netdvn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It probably won't be a top ten coaster, but if they can get TG running like it did in 1990, it would probably rank fairly high on the polls. -
Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
netdvn replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I absolutely love these Terminator shots. The ride is coming along very nicely and quickly. The ride looks so sexy, but I'm not a big fan of the "One Flag, Six Flags" thing. -

Six Flags Over Texas (SFOT) Discussion Thread

SF has been in trouble since Premier bought all those parks in the late-90s, early 2000s. The main reason people are thinking SF my file for bankruptcy is because the company built up so much debt and the economy is in bad shape. They are also in the process of rehabbing two other coasters as well as a dark ride. IIRC, this ride WAS a top 10 coaster when it was first built, so smoothing out the layout will probably bring it back up on many enthusiasts lists. -

New Knotts Berry Farm Commercials
netdvn replied to WFChris's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ OMG My coaster count just went up too! But honestly its just a silly ad campaign created by Knott's to get more customers. They advertise 10 coasters just so that people can say "Hey! Knott's has 10 coasters! We should go there because they have so many!" The GP isn't gonna go "Dude Knott's CLEARLY doesn't have 10 coasters. It says so on RCDB" because the GP probably won't waste their time checking RCDB to see if there really are 10 coasters inside the park. And they're not gonna fight about which extra ride counts as a coaster. [/rant] Carry on! -

Judging by the concept art, the detail put into this ride is incredible. -
Mark Shapiro on CBS News
netdvn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Really? I think SFA is in a MUCH more competitive market. Why? Because there are so many major parks competing directly with it. For major parks, you've got... Hersheypark Dorney Park SFGAdv BGE King's Dominion (and you should consider all these parks recently added major attractions within the past few years) On top of that, you have tons of smaller parks as well The Ocean City parks Morey's Piers and other NJ Boardwalk parks Knoebels Sesame Place etc... So I think SFA is in a more competitive market because the area is pretty much saturated with parks, compered to SFKK. -
Six Flags May Not Survive 2009...
netdvn replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If SF decides to sell its parks off, I can see them keeping only the flagship parks, SFGAm, SFGAdv, SFMM and the original parks SFOT, SFOG, SFStL. CF could sell it to Disney, but considering its still highly profitable for CF, I doubt that. -
Efteling Plans 2nd Park Outside of Netherlands

Dutch Wonderland? That park seems to stand out, but I'm not sure if it's on sale or not. How about Valleyfair and World's of Fun? -

Water Country USA has one of those "hovercraft death slides" you mentioned. Its in an older area of the park and its very popular. I've never seen a waterslide end in a patch of grass before. Strange I really wanted to see more of the mysterious flat ride though. -
