  1. ^and people said Six Flags charging $1 for an hour was outrageous
  2. CGA's profit margins are much different since they have to give the city a cut since they own the land. The new contract CF worked out with them a few months ago helps them keep more of the money now which is why it seems they are willing to continue with the wood coaster project now.
  3. REALLY dig the sign, fountain, and train art. If only CW was closer.
  4. 2004- Level 3 ride operator (all rides) Visionland (but mainly Rampage and Space Shot) 2005- Zoomerang opening year crew 2006-2011 Supervisor- Alabama Adventure Rides dept. I miss working in a park.
  5. Alabama Crimson Tide Gymnastics.....BACK TO BACK National Champions!!
  6. Holiday World switched back to Dippin' Dots in 2011, FWIW.
  7. From park GM Greg Scheid's twitter account ( @KIGMGREG ):
  8. ^No, KD's has never rotated. By leaving off the mechanics (and their extra weight) in the design they were able to add more seats and higher capacity.
  9. ^Yes, they do have a Chick-Fil-A over by Planet Snoopy.
  10. Speaking as someone that worked in a park where alcohol was sold for several years....people don't get drunk in amusement parks. Sure there will be an OCCASIONAL one or two, but 99.9% of people that buy beer in a theme park are only buying one or two to enjoy during a downtime between rides. In eight years I had to call security ONE time because of a drunk guest causing a disturbance.
  11. ^I'm pretty sure the only B&M Wing Coaster without the main panel being located there is Wild Eagle. It's a pretty good idea to have it located there so that operator can see what all is going on on the platform.
  12. ^^A reporter asked the owner about the water amusement rides and he said the rapids and log flume were too expensive to continue to operate and Buzzsaw was in a weird location to open with the waterpark (while it is next to main street the path to the ride is kind of long).
  13. Wait....you paid $20 for a ticket and are upset with the length of lines on a day that was a combination of opening day (lots of new employees) AND Good Friday (lots of people out of school/off work), along with great weather? And you arrived in the middle of the day? Yeah...that was poor planning.
  14. The bricks are still there. The idea of removing them was tossed around back when the park changed names in 2006 because of the brick mural the engraved bricks surround but they covered that up with park maps instead and kept the engraved bricks.
  15. One thing you have to take into account is the park was divided when Southland owned the park. They REALLY messed up the flow of the amusement park in order for it to only have one entrance so they could sell individual tickets to each park or a combo for both. When it opened it was a combo ticket and one of the first things AFE did for their first full season of ownership was combine it back into one ticket. I'm wondering how they are going to work out the event with Mercedes. If they have the turnout that they did the last time they rented out the park the waterpark is going to be SLAMMED.
  16. Well they did claim to spend $5million to buy Zoomerang
  17. ^Alright well that just leaves the Huss Enterprise that I have not found an ad for. Oh well. It sucks seeing the place you spent so much time at go out like this.
  18. Here's the listing for Buzzsaw: http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=1598
  19. ^And no, Buzzsaw Falls is listed for sale as well. The only thing I have yet to find listed anywhere is Rampage, two kiddie rides, and Vertigo.
  20. Local news is reporting they are finally announcing the ride closure tomorrow. http://www.myfoxal.com/story/17338208/big-changes-coming-to-alabama-adventure BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) - If you prefer the amusement park at Alabama Adventure over the water park side, you may not like what FOX6 has learned tonight. The park's new owners may be focusing solely on one side of the business instead of two. A spokesperson for the theme park said there would be an expansion at the park soon, but wouldn't say more than that. Park fans will know for sure tomorrow when officials plan to discuss what they're calling the "future focus" of the park. Shirley Smith takes her children every summer. "They're very family-oriented people, have movies for kids," Smith said. There's a big announcement coming Thursday morning but one theme park industry website, Screamscape, may have leaked the news. A posting on the site mentions that the owner of the park will announce a new name for the attraction that will play up the water park aspect and implies that the dry rides of Alabama Adventure may be closed down for good. If it's true, the Alabama Adventure fans FOX6 News spoke with really don't like the idea. "I go to the theme park more than I do the waterpark," Christie Royal said. "The water park will be good for summer but still people like the rides too. So might turn some people away." "The amusement park is the best thing about it," Terry Wallace said. There are even more clues pointing to the rides going away. Screamscape links to another website where a lot of theme park rides are for sale. Shirley Smith and her children thought some looked like rides at Alabama Adventure. "The kids roller coaster yeah, the carousel...that one go around with music," Smith said. While Smith said she wouldn't miss those rides if they were gone, others say they'll find somewhere else to get their thrills. "Probably wouldn't go back, go to Six Flags," Terry Wallace said. 21. It doesn't really look much longer than say Diamondback or Intimidator's brake runs, especially when you consider those both have 180 degree turns between their transfers and final brake sections.
  22. Good news! I might just have to head over there on my next off day and check it out.
  23. I remember the last time the park announced a name change.....along with a petting zoo, sports park, hotel with indoor waterpark, an RV park, an "Alabama outdoors" section, etc.
  24. The Blue Angels are flying over my apartment practicing for their performances this weekend. It's loud
  25. I would post what I just said while looking at these pictures....but it would not be appropriate VERY nice.
