CGA's profit margins are much different since they have to give the city a cut since they own the land. The new contract CF worked out with them a few months ago helps them keep more of the money now which is why it seems they are willing to continue with the wood coaster project now.

REALLY dig the sign, fountain, and train art. If only CW was closer.

^No, KD's has never rotated. By leaving off the mechanics (and their extra weight) in the design they were able to add more seats and higher capacity.

Speaking as someone that worked in a park where alcohol was sold for several years....people don't get drunk in amusement parks. Sure there will be an OCCASIONAL one or two, but 99.9% of people that buy beer in a theme park are only buying one or two to enjoy during a downtime between rides. In eight years I had to call security ONE time because of a drunk guest causing a disturbance.

^I'm pretty sure the only B&M Wing Coaster without the main panel being located there is Wild Eagle. It's a pretty good idea to have it located there so that operator can see what all is going on on the platform.

^^A reporter asked the owner about the water amusement rides and he said the rapids and log flume were too expensive to continue to operate and Buzzsaw was in a weird location to open with the waterpark (while it is next to main street the path to the ride is kind of long).

Wait....you paid $20 for a ticket and are upset with the length of lines on a day that was a combination of opening day (lots of new employees) AND Good Friday (lots of people out of school/off work), along with great weather? And you arrived in the middle of the day? Yeah...that was poor planning.

The bricks are still there. The idea of removing them was tossed around back when the park changed names in 2006 because of the brick mural the engraved bricks surround but they covered that up with park maps instead and kept the engraved bricks.

One thing you have to take into account is the park was divided when Southland owned the park. They REALLY messed up the flow of the amusement park in order for it to only have one entrance so they could sell individual tickets to each park or a combo for both. When it opened it was a combo ticket and one of the first things AFE did for their first full season of ownership was combine it back into one ticket. I'm wondering how they are going to work out the event with Mercedes. If they have the turnout that they did the last time they rented out the park the waterpark is going to be SLAMMED.

It doesn't really look much longer than say Diamondback or Intimidator's brake runs, especially when you consider those both have 180 degree turns between their transfers and final brake sections.

Good news! I might just have to head over there on my next off day and check it out.

I remember the last time the park announced a name change.....along with a petting zoo, sports park, hotel with indoor waterpark, an RV park, an "Alabama outdoors" section, etc.
