  1. Looks like you chose the better weekend to go to SFOG... My friends drove all the way from Ohio and had terrible luck with the weather this weekend. Cold and rain kept the park pretty much closed all weekend. They didn't even ride a single coaster. Their first day the park opened but closed only after an hour and a half and it was reported that less than 200 guests showed up to the park on both Sat. and Sun.
  2. Well this past year working at Cedar Point I know Toby Keith and Tony Stewert were in the park. They didn't ride Mantis though. I just hope I don't see a sight like this...
  3. Yea, defiantly do Maverick first... It will be the longest line all day once the public gates open, unless it's a nice August day than most lines will be decently long.
  4. My Canon PowerShot SX100 IS. Most of my photos on Flickr have been taken with this camera like my Hershey Park, Dorney Park and other newer photos. Great camera if you want beef but not an SLR. I would love however to get an SLR soon so I can improve my artistic appeal of my photos. http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-SX100IS-Digital-Stabilized/dp/B000V1VG4W
  5. The loop really isn't far off from a normal look. Follow the heartline and it matches up pretty close to a normal loop that you would see one any other modern coaster.
  6. Well I've been going to the park for years and Wicked Twister has always had problems... Especially with the track on the spikes. Constant cracking and welding due to extreme weather conditions only leads me to believe there was poor engineering on Intamins part. There isn't nearly enough support for that much track to be free standing with as much wind the lake creates. Thank you everyone for all your kind comments! I'm glad everyone enjoyed them. I never expected such a large response and a spot on the TPR front page.
  7. I wish! We however didn't land in Sandusky. Mmmmm Chicken Alfredo Pizza! Thanks Kara!
  8. I would assume a crane of that magnitude would need room to sprawl out. There really isn't a sturdy base anywhere near the tower except that area. Must be a heck of a repair job none the less. It was specifically to fly over Cedar Point... Of course pictures are a must on any plane adventure! It was a great time, hooray for turbulence air time! We just like to give it a hard time... It has gotten better over the past two years in my opinion, which is a good thing. Its just more of a Sunday stroll then a thrilling ride, which some people like. I do enjoy front seat rides on Mean Streak, but that's it. Totally agree... Seeing a park you go to often from a new perspective makes it even more enjoyable and breathtaking. I also could never find a good bunch of "good" aerial shots of the park and thought I would change that. I think I have succeeded, don't you? We just lucked out that the sun came out and had an overall great day for picture taking.
  9. Well get ready for CP Rumors to spread like wildfire... Land clearing on Millennium Island and the old boneyard is now completely clear of old ride parts and clutter. Photo Taken March 14th, 2009
  10. Yep, lets remove a bunch of adult trees for "Re-Landscaping"... let the rumors begin! I was holding out to see how long someone noticed that there were indeed trees missing. That was quick!
  11. Hey everyone... I Uploaded my better Aerial shots to my Flickr. Better Quality and Larger Images for EVERYONE! http://www.flickr.com/photos/8308074@N04/sets/72157615194672039/
  12. Ill post some on my Flickr account, but only the good ones. I'll post the link when they are up on the site.
  13. So I find myself enveloped in the whole Woot.com crowd and this product showed its face today... http://sellout.woot.com/Blog/ViewEntry.aspx?Id=7634 Would this work for us airtime junkies? If you want to buy it scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "I want one!". They are selling for $9.99 until 12:59am tonight. EDIT! US only...
  14. Hey everyone, I'll keep this short! I just got back from an plane ride over Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. I would like to thank my buddy for giving me the opportunity to go flying with him, he did a wonderful job piloting the plane! Enjoy the photos, and hang in there... The off-season blues are almost over! EDIT Here is most of the shots on my Flickr account. Check them out! Fill sized Images available! CLICK TO GO TO PHOTOS Also.... DIGG IT! (Vanishes into the distance) Goodbye! See you in a few weeks! Almost time to leave My favorite shot of the trip One more wider angle Look at all them coaster thingies Raptor overhead Great shot towards the back of the park Poor Twister... There's them coaster trains in storage Another view of the center of the park Center of the park.... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I got most of the park in this shot, to bad the sun is in the wrong place... Crappy ride, but a beauty to look at. I spot the re-tracking in progress... Hope its a smoother ride this year! Looking towards the front of the park One of my favorite shots from the photo shoot Best drop in the world in my books View of most of the peninsula Mantis, my home last year (I was a ride host here). The most underrated ride in the park. I loves it! Pretty sure this is a duplicate angle, but oh well... Pretty Reflection A better view of B&M Goodness Great view Close-up of failure... Truly an Intamin EPIC FAIL.... But I still love the ride. Time to go around again! Sorry if there are duplicate angles... My favorite Steel coaster, perhaps in the world? So far... I see triangle hills in the distance... Like a toy model, one I wish I could bring home with me. A great collection of rides you have there Great view of the middle of the park where you know what stands tall and proud. Oh wait, that's just Top Thrill Dragster... Never mind. My favorite B&M Invert looking fine as always... A crane and a piece of track missing? This cant be good... Something seemed a bit weird about Wicked Twister today... Sun was just coming out, lucky for us! Looks like it was going to be a great day for photos. Starting on our first pass around the park... Look at those curves.. Here we are!
  15. ^ It is possible that the reason for not cutting away part of the building for more clearance is because that section of the building me be a major supporting beam. They would have to take some time to restructure where to redistribute weight so that they don't cause any significant damage to the building itself. That's just what I am assuming.
  16. To me, bad Idea. Sure for a guest it would be great... But take it from a parks view it would be a nightmare. First, most parks dont have the staff to do even one 24 hour day. Its not entirely safe to put employees through such a day, especially if they are there to ensure a guest safety. Sure they can break shifts up but it would be exhausting. I know at Cedar Point, they get pretty close to 24 hours during CoasterMania. Working there and seeing some of my co-workers work 5am to 2am is not a fun thing to watch. Then they would have to be in the next day at 8am for a normal operating day if they didn't get a later shift. Also from a maintenance view it would be entirely unsafe as rides need to be inspected on a regular basis. I know with Millennium Force the ride can only be in operation for 20 hours before the ride will lock down. This is because the lift has to be inspected every night bottom to top and over. There is a button at the end of the catwalk to reset the ride so it can operate the next day. There is also a lot more than maintenance that goes on at night... Cleaning crews would have a hard time detail cleaning the park on a regular basis if a park is open 24/7. It would get disgusting. Maybe a special even where there is no operating hours the following day, but not all the time 24/7.
  17. I would personally run to Son of Beast or Firehawk first as they have some of the slowest lines in the park... Behemoth at CW had a very fast moving line, which at full queue was only like 45minutes. During the SOAR event you could see where the queue was going and I thought it was far to small. It looked even smaller than behemoths and that queue was WAY to small for the crowds it pulled in.
  18. Is it just me or does Diamondback seem a bit more "Roar-y" than Behemoth at CW? If so I am happy... I love the B&M Roar!
  19. To Expand on what Tony Clark said about Cedar Point 2009... The more major improvements were new signage around the park. The first new sign will be located at the beginning of the causeway at Cedar Point Drive and 1st Street and will feature an LED Screen along with the Cedar Point Logo. The next sign will be a new ride sign for Magnum XL-200 for its anniversary. He showed us some artist concept renderings of the sign and it looks very stylish and fits the 80’s era very well. It looked like a slanted silver colored slab with the Magnum XL-200 logo in white with the molly orange underscore under the name at the top of the slab. Also, banners throughout the park will feature Magnum-XL 200 in celebration of its 20th Anniversary. Of Course, new shows will also be debuting this year throughout the park. All Wheels Extreme is back this summer by popular demand. Halloweekends will be expanded for another consecutive year. And there will be a new improvement near Millennium Force, but there was no news spilled on what it may be The other improvement will be the removal of the old classic water fountain near Raptor on the main midway. It will be replaced with a new interactive walkthrough fountain, to give guests and kids a way to cool off and have fun. There is no further information about the fountain itself, but I did see a story about the new fountain at Blackpool Pleasure Beach earlier and think it may be something similar to that (Just to possibly get an idea of what it may be, not confirmed). 20. They also hinted at possible testing in the next week or two. They said everything starts up like it should, lift runs... everything is ready to start running. I'm sure it all depends on weather and making sure construction gets to a certain pointy before testing. Also, Tony Clark was there for CP and gave a sneak peak at some new improvements. Some new Signage on the way
  21. Here is the tutorial that I used in my CP Tilt Shift photos... Tilt Shift Away! We are going to kill this fad, haha! http://www.tiltshiftphotography.net/photoshop-tutorial.php
  22. What photostudio do you use !!! Looks fantastic ..... thanks m8Photoshop CS3
  23. I'll Contribute... Most of these are a bit older so I don't have a specific tutorial to give you. But I will make special requests if needed (Wallpapers and Such). Enjoy! p.s. - I like the sun =P Faux-Tilt-Shift from Mantis Lift Hill (During a Lift Walk) Faux-Tilt-Shift from Mantis Lift Hill (During a Lift Walk) Faux-Tilt-Shift from Mantis Lift Hill (During a Lift Walk) Maverick with a bit of over saturation, adjusted hue to a orangish color and an elliptical gaussian blur with a Layer Blend. 24. Instead of posting a new topic, I thought I would just stick this in here... I recently took a trip to Sandusky and took a couple of shots at Battery Park. I stitched a series of shots together to get a nice panoramic photo from across the lake. Here is a nice wintry scene to add to the off-season blues! Enjoy! A large view and be seen here at Flickr.com Panoramic from Battery Park January, 31st 2009
