  1. Stumbled on this photo today on my Facebook Feed. I see so much lake! Aerial View from Skyride
  2. DT is nearing its last stand, here goes demolition to the structure located closest to the Midways! Photo Credit to Mike Rearick
  3. What exactly were you expecting? This surpasses my expectations by a mile!
  4. Here is screenshots of the leak. Thanks to Link ThunderbirdsMT from Pointbuzz! ***********SPOILERS************ www.flickr.com/photos/84744498@N05/7762286200/in/photostream EDIT - Removed Pic to Avoid Spoilage for some people....
  5. ^^Cedar Point maintenance is pretty good about recovering from mechanical issues. I wouldn't be surprised to see it running in a few days (Definitely not more than 2 weeks), but the only thing we can do is speculate.
  6. Yea, well I have seen the business side of things with CP and Intamin and I'm not to sure that Cedar Point would want to put themselves back into a position with building a new ride with them, at least not the near future (next 5 years).
  7. If you combine both Intamin's unreliability and technical issues with almost all of Cedar Points newest Intamin models and Cedar Fair's current spending spree on brand new B&M rides; I think the answer is clear Intamin will not be asked to build Cedar Point's next thrill ride. Lets face it, B&M's are reliable and much lower cost to maintain, its a better business plan overall to go that direction.
  8. The whole park is licensed for alcohol sales and consumption. They also built a refreshment stand in front of Good Time Theater that had beer keg dispensers as well as snacks.
  9. Looking a little closer in the future now, we still have Luminosity... which is currently in it rehearsal stage. They did a preview for employees in the past few days and I have seen some positive feedback from ones I am friends with on Facebook. A few say this is something they have never seen at Cedar Point before and it puts the park at a whole new level of entertainment, something that Disney or Universal would have developed even. There has been a few video leaks on to youtube of performances and general lighting and sound of the stage area. I am looking forward to checking out the show in a few weeks, its really got me intrigued enough to want to visit the park just to watch the show. What are everyone elses thoughts of Luminosity now that we have seen more of it in person? 10. A sneak peak at Luminosity has surfaced on Youtube. Looks like they are currently in their tech rehearsals, so the performance a bit rough.... but that stage lighting is awesome. Turned out MUCH better than I anticipated. The poster commented that the show lasted well past 40 minutes, but his battery died.
  11. Cedar Point started to test their new stage lighting for Luminosity. I must say, this looks better than I ever expected! Power tower is also looking even more amazing!
  12. It was a sudden announcement, the ride had a crew selected and it was scheduled/budgeted to operate this year. The ride itself has seen its days and was ending its operating life as it was... out with the old and in with the new, they are just accelerating the removal... why waste your money when you can reinvest that money in newer better things for everyone. Its sad to see rides be retired, but in the end you still have the memories of the past to share in the future and you can make new memories year after year rather than live old ones.
  13. At Cedar Point there will be NO exit based Fast Lane access', all Fast Lanes will either have their own entrance or they will have a alternate route from within the original queues. The Fast Lanes will for the most part bring guests to loading platforms where from there they will be released among regular stand-by guests to select any seat they wish, waiting a cycle (Flats and Circulars)... or a train or two (Coasters) with regular stand-by guests.
  14. The point of using LEDs are for the lack of maintenance they require. Besides, Windseeker has hard to reach LED fixtures 300 feet in the air. I understand the minimal maintenance required with LED's, but after a few years of exposure to Lake winds and harsh winters connections will start to go bad, so instead of one light going out you will see long strips go out. Millennium Force does not have a maintenance lift like Windseeker does (aka the gondola) so they would require the installation of a temporary movable scaffolding system, similar to what they are using to paint the towers with currently (or like a window washing platform on high-rise buildings) because most mobile lifts won't reach higher than 150-feet.
  15. In person I would say that the lights are even BRIGHTER than they were its opening year. They are using LED panels similar to the ones found on Windseeker, 4 panels on the smaller supports and 6 panels on the three largest supports. I personally think the spot light effect works better for millennium force because of the extensive amount of structure that the lift sports, makes it seem a lot more artistic and brighter than LED bars would be able to do. Besides, stationary LED strips 310ft high would be too much to maintain over a long period, ground level panels are easier to access and fix if they are in need of repair. In regards to the continuation of paint for Millennium Force, they got a considerable amount done this spring. The only parts of the ride that remain to be painted are the lift kill from where they left off last year to the top, the entire first drop has been painted to the tunnel, including two of the six massive lift supports (Which is almost night in day when driving down the causeway in the morning might I add). The 181-foot airtime hill also has been left untouched, other than that all other parts are completed.
  16. Here is two short videos of Millennium Force all lit up! www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WtZtoGzn8c&hd=1 www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSlv6iL5RAs&hd=1 (Wont post an embedded video for some reason...)
  17. Couple of new tweets for GM, John Hildebrandt with pictures of Luminosity construction progress and Giant Wheels new lighting installation. See pictures below! Luminosity Stage as viewed form he Iron Dragon ride platform. "Luminosity taking shape at CP. "The Giant Wheel is getting a brand new light package for 2012. Installation started this week. Opening in only 24 days!" - John Hildebrandt - Twitter "@CPGMJohn" Current view of Luminosity Construction on the CP webcams. Notice that the control towers are now completely romoved with the largest now set in its new home. The area is bustling with activity daily ad they try to complete this project with just weeks remaining before opening.

  19. I'm excited for Luminosity! Its so awesome to watch the park transform everyday while I'm at work... something new everyday!
  20. Really looking forward to a continuation of this trip! I had the chance to meet you guys this year for the first time, you guys seemed to be having a blast at Cedar Point! I patient, I promise
  21. It is being advertised as a LIMITED WAIT not a total elimination of wait. You will have to wait, but only a SMALL fraction when compared to the normal line. I can ensure you that CP is making every effort to implement this system correctly and more efficiently than any other park in the company using what information is available company and industry wide.
  22. Fast lanes will go directly to loading platforms and there will be a limited wait from there. There are no assigned rows on ride vehicles.
  23. Cedar Point released their information for FAST LANE. Here is the pricing, its pretty much the same as Kings Island. FAST LINE OFFICIAL INFORMATION PAGE 1 - $50/ea 2 - $45/ea 3 - $40/ea 4 - $35/ea 5 or More - $30/ea *Additional $5 per person on Saturdays.
