  1. They could also just as easily be crafting a great pickup line for when you're on the beach with your girlfriend: "Wanna take a spin on my tall, bony thing?" It can happen.
  2. Now this kid is a thinker! The newest Facebook hint: A picture of the Ghost Town windmill. Go me?
  3. From reading Westcoaster (awesome site), I believe that it wont be a coaster. Puuuuuure speculation here, but could it be ANOTHER re-purposing of the Sky Cabin? I mean it's been closed all summer, maybe that'll be Stratosaur 2 or something!
  4. Chuck, I love you. Your captions are some of the funniest and well thought out ones I've ever seen. Keep the good stuff coming (that's what she said)!
  5. ^I have a friend who went a couple days ago (this site's A113), and I believe the answer is yes, it's open.
  6. The thing is though, that it took em what? Like 26 chances? I forget. But at that point, it's basically just luck that gets the ball into the hoop. I'm betting there's a large amount of people that'd be able to make that shot with that many tries.
  7. They'd have to take a long trek down to Brasil in order to buy SFOG's Deja Vu...
  8. Not to kill anyone's coasterboner here, but starflyers also spend lots of time in the air. Although, at this point, it could still be anything!
  9. I believe I saw this guy on a trail today www.imdb.com/name/nm0531095/ I'm not sure if it's him, but my teammates said that it was the guy from Ugly Betty, so yeah, I'm just not sure which guy.
  10. ^It just goes to show how progressive California is. We even allow our towers to not be straight! P.S.: for anyone looking for a good time to go to MM, a weekday in late August should do the trick. I went on August 23rd last year, and pretty much everything was a walk on. Even X2 had a very short wait. Although with the LAUSD getting in even later this year, that might not be the case. For anyone wondering, LAUSD students go back September 13th.
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't CP's plans have been finalized by the time that article was written (Feb 2, 2010)? If that was the case, then CP definitely isn't getting one of these because the article talked about how they were looking for a first client. Still looks like a cool idea though.
  12. That would be an ARM-Larson tower (but yes, they're awesome). The thing is that Intamin towers work basically the same way, and Intamin makes towers way taller. The one at Scandia is as high as ARM makes their towers, so if SFMM wanted something larger, but with the same effect, they'd probably have to go with Intamin. Edit: Paramount's CEO was just an interim one. That's why they got a new CEO so quickly, the other was just there to be the CEO until they found a permanent replacement for Shapiro.
  13. ^Well what else is there to do in a discussion thread?! Also, SFMM doesn't ALWAYS necessarily go for bigger is better. For instance, their 09 addition, Terminator, is even smaller than Ghostrider (and probably about the same thing in the GP's eyes). However, I think Maliboomer will probably go to some smaller, local park, if it gets sold. Plus, that leaves room for our gyro drop that totally IS coming. Because if we're gonna be labeled as a spoiled park, we better damn well get spoiled!
  14. My list: Cliff Jumper at Scandia Fun Center, Dragon's Tower at Castle Park, Supreme Scream at Knott's, and then a toss up between Freefall at SFMM and Maliboomer. IDK where to rank ToT, but it definitely beats most of my top 5.
  15. Lost River is also worth mentioning. The Egyptian theming is just as elaborate and is complete with Indiana Jones theme music! Ah, I didn't get to ride that one! At around 3:45, a huge thunderstorm rolled in and closed the park for the rest of the day. However, major props to Waterworld! They didn't close their attractions down until it was ACTUALLY unsafe to operate them (lightning did pass right over the park), and when they made the announcement that they were closing the park for the rest of the day, they gave everyone who wanted free half day tickets! Their customer service was awesome (plus, I loved how you could leave your stuff almost anywhere and not get it stolen).
  16. ^I didn't ride them, but the people I went to WW with said that you sometimes get stuck on those white slides, because they go so slow
  17. Haha so cool! I was just there Friday and freaking loved the place. Although it seems that you got much luckier with the lines, the damn place was packed when I went! Great coverage!
  18. Voyage to the Center of the Earth at Waterworld near Denver is without a doubt my favorite slide ever. It's completely themed from start to finish, and I'd say the theming is probably better than Knott's's Timber Mountain Log Ride: Link to the ride's web page.
  19. X2 uses a rack and pinion system to rotate its cars. So clearly, this means that Superman is going to have an extra 100 feet attached to the top, run backwards, break the American speed record, launch backwards, and rotate at the top due to the rack and pinion system.
  20. Looks like a great start to the trip report. Except...YOU MISSED A PRIME OPPORTUNITY FOR COVERAGE OF THE LARRY CRAIG BATHROOM!!!!
  21. Odd question: Does anyone know what happened to Xcelerator's yellow train? Did it get repainted into like the purple train, or what?
  22. Does the Arrow shuttle loop count as a backwards launch? I can't really say that I'm looking forward to 2011 at Magic Mountain unless something "big" actually does happen to superman. All of the rumors just sound really lame / a complete waste of a new attraction. Of course, money IS an issue, so they can't just tear that mother f**ker down and build something cool there, but hopefully management surprises us and turns Superman into something...well...cool and actually worth while. Of course, whatever I do, I'm definitely going to ride whatever Superman turns into, and continue going to the park because one year of *possible* lameness (well I guess it'll be two) really wouldn't stop me from visiting. Hell, I've been to Knott's 3 times this year, and they haven't added any new rides at all since '08!
  23. It'll probably be pretty crowded, and Superman is closed till 2011.
