  1. I agree, but it should go to a park that doesn't have a "kiddie coaster". Six Flags St. Louis is a good example, they removed their only kiddie coaster, Rockin' Roller, last year. This roller skater would be perfect for them, so why give it to a park that already has two kiddie coasters like SFMM?
  2. That URC is almost something I would expect on April Fool's Day...except it's November. It's pretty odd that some random article comes out "confirming" that SFMM is getting SFNO's Roller Skater without any mention of the park confirming it. This is just another rumor to me and doesn't change what I think the park will be getting (THBS).
  3. ^^ Exactly, it's a kiddie coaster...not a family coaster. This is not a ride a whole family would want to ride. If this is true, then I'm really disappointed... ...with the park. THBS/Vekoma Roller Skater, they're the same to me, but THBS would be much better for the park imo. I'm not going to go crazy and lose sleep over this though. I highly doubt this is what SFMM would do.
  4. I think I remember seeing a Moser Top Spin at Pacific Park! I wanted to see the ride operate but no one would ride it, now I know why.
  5. Ghostrider. It seems like everytime I take a long break from the ride, it's good, but then getting back on the ride again reminds me how much it sucks.
  6. ^^ Go to X2 first, then Tatsu, then Deja Vu/Terminator. Terminator's line never seems to get too long, so if you do those four coasters in that order you should get on each of them with little to no wait.
  7. ^ But they have a 48 inch height reqirement (at least Pony Express does) which completely takes it away from being a family coaster... SFMM has plenty of rides with a 48 inch height reqirement, it's just below that that they need more of.
  8. That's horrible that they're still making you watch the pre-shows while empty trains are going around the track...it was the exact same way when I went November 1st. I'm really glad Goliath is getting new paint though. Just last visit I was thinking about how badly it needed to be re-painted...
  9. A family coaster is something everyone can ride and everyone wants to ride, like Terminator except with a smaller height reqirement. If a family with kids that are about 7-10 go to SFMM, the whole family isn't going to want to ride kiddie coasters (Canyon Blaster, Vekoma Roller Skater, etc.) Most of the time, they want to biggest thrill they can get for their height, and that's where a Spinning Coaster comes in perfectly with a 42 inch height reqirement.
  10. This comes up a lot, but the way I (and a lot of other enthusiasts) count credits, both parks are already tied. Counting Colossus and Superman The Escape as two credits each, SFMM has 18 coasters. Counting Gemini as two credits, CP has 18 coasters. So at the moment, they are tied, but with this coaster SFMM will be in lead. I guess it depends on how you count credits though.
  11. Bizarro looks the best so I voted for that. I've been on Millennium Force and Diamondback but they aren't on the poll.
  12. I can see how red is a "family coaster"...although the launch is definitely faster than I expected. What is the height reqirement for these two coasters?
  13. Great pictures! I enjoyed reading this entire PTR.
  14. I actually enjoy Goliath. I'm not a fan of inversions, so hyper coasters are my favorite type of ride, and so far I have enjoyed every one I've been on (besides Desperado, athough it wasn't horrible). Goliath's first drop may not be steep, but it's definitely a lot fun. I have no problem with heights, so I really like sitting at the top of the lift hill listening to everyone screaming, waiting to get pulled down the drop. The quick rush in the tunnel really adds to the speed, and then after the turn around comes the air-time hill. I've been on Magnum XL-200, Phantom's Revenge, Maverick, Voyage, etc...but this air-time hill is by far my favorite. I love floating out of my seat for a few seconds. It definitely is "true air-time". After that the ride dies for me. I hate slamming on the brakes, and the helix makes me black-out nearly everytime. Still, Goliath is a fun ride and one that I can keep riding over-and-over, unlike most coasters. It's currently my 5th favorite favorite coaster out of my list of 126, so it definitely ranks highly for me, but I have a feeling once I ride more coasters it'll fall down my list easily. EDIT: Forgot to mention how smooth Goliath is. Probably the smoothest coaster I've been on!
  15. Just sent my ballot in. 1. Favorite Steel 2. Voyage 3. Terminator Salvation The Ride 4. Beast 5. Roar 6. Thunderbolt (Kennywood) 7. Raven 8. Jack Rabbit (Kennywood) 9. Ghostrider 10. Giant Dipper (Santa Cruz)
  16. Awww...can't believe I missed these this year! I thought Voyage was a great ride but just too rough, I can definitely see these bringing Voyage back to the #1 woodie.
  17. ^ Impulse Coasters are fun, but it'd be pointless to remove Montezooma's Revenge for one. Monte is definitely a ride I want to stay for a while, but sadly I can't see it still at Knott's say...10 years from now.
  18. I used to have drawings of coasters all over my room. Now those are replaced with park maps. I also 'stole a kid' to ride Jr. Gemini at Cedar Point and beg to ride Percy's Railway nearly everytime I go to SFMM.
  19. Nice report, too bad Cedar Point was that crowded. Oh and I actually like Phantom's Revenge's 'bad' transition, it makes the second drop more 'exciting' and unexpected.
  20. That's just me being paranoid about Deja Vu coming down (not that I really care).
  21. It wouldn't make sense to take down Deja Vu for this new coaster...all these advertisements on the site are saying "SFMM to add 17th coaster" and "bringing the total number of coasters to 17". If they remove Deja Vu, they go right back down to 16 coasters and there goes their advertising.
  22. Wow, I could only do 4 rides in about 12 hours (all towards the front and in an inside seat). It felt a lot more rough than usual on Sunday. Deja Vu was open most of the day, but I saw it get stuck around 7:30ish. Not sure if it ever re-opened.
  23. Gemini. Probably the most fun coaster I've been on. The ride actually has a lot air-time in the back and the head-choppers are great. The ride is also surprisingly smooth. Beast is a close second.
  24. They probably do mean X2. It's just...really, there aren't too many family coaster options for SFMM to choose from, and then you have all the other THBS's going in at other SF parks, plus the park's new BMX show...it just makes it pretty obvious what they're getting. I'm not too excited about it (I'm not a fan of spinning either, in fact I can barely handle it) but it's the best choice for the park IMO. It's definitely a lot better than Wiggles World, which I really think would be a waste with Thomas Town. I disagree with next year being bad for SoCal...Demon Drop is a pretty fun ride, new credit at SFMM, and World of Color at DCA () but that's for another thread.
