Very nice Brad. I'm so jealous. -
I went during pretty much that exact same week last year and crowds weren't too bad. Maverick, Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster were about an hour (and Raptor at times) but everything else was walk on to 30 minutes. Early Entry didn't really work for me. Maverick and Millennium Force were testing the entire time, so only Raptor and Iron Dragon were open. I ended up just waiting in line for Top Thrill Dragster so I would be one of the first on when the park opened.

I really like the look of the first drop, it reminds me a lot of Diamondback's which gave nice air. Other than that, it looks like your typical B&M Hyper; nothing more, nothing less. -

We walked right on Perilous Plunge right before lunch, so around 12:20. I know what line you're talking about, we were going to go for a re-ride right before the presentation but it looked like at least 45 minutes. -

Sunday was an awesome day. You probably know what the schedule/perks of the day were by now, so I'll just get to the pictures. Montezooma's Revenge - 2 Jaguar - 2 Timberline Twister - 1 Supreme Scream - 2 Silver Bullet - 3 Ghostrider - 3 Pony Express - 1 Bigfoot Rapids - 1 Perilous Plunge - 1 Timber Mountain Log Ride - 2 Calico Mine Train - 1 Started the day off with a ride on Monte. Then it was over to Jaguar for a quick ride before the Calico Mine Train Tour. All of my pictures came out dark and blurry, but it was cool. I was in Group B so I sadly didn't get to see the Glory Hole. While waiting for the Roundhouse Tour, Robb came over to us and said we could see the tour we missed and to definitely check out the Glory Hole...not knowing what it was, I just decided to enjoy the rest of ERT and not worry about it. After riding Calico Mine Train later in the day, I realized what the Glory Hole was. Should have taken Robb's word for it. Boomerang was open! But I passed. Perilous Plunge would have been fun at 8:30 AM. Silver Bullet testing. Rattle rattle rattle rattle rattle rattle Human test dummy! I accomplished something on Sunday. That's right. I rode Ghostrider. In the back. At night. Twice. In a row. These improper sentences are really dramatic. We gave Pony Express a courtesy ride. "Hey man, you know, I rode that uh, the Pony Ride, you know it was AWESOME, just like, it was short, dude. Why?" "That's why it's called Pony Express." - Q&A Having fun in there? I'm sorry I took such a long break from you Silver Bullet. I'm back to stalk you again! "Where ya guys goin?" "Oh just to eat some chicken." Lunch time! I didn't eat there, but the games were fun and entertaining (WATER BALLOON TOSS). We went over by TGI Friday's and got pictures of Ghostrider after lunch. Oh, I guess I forgot to mention how those back-seat Ghostrider night-rides were. Let's just say I got right back on after the ride, something I usually don't do. Ghostrider went from being an extremely painful and average coaster to now an awesome Top 20 must ride! It was seriously smoother in the back, and there was air-time. I love Perilous Plunge. Just about four more weeks! Gotta get Monte in one more time before closing. Sunset at Knott's. Silver Bullet was nice at night. And that's all I have for the event! I miss it already! Thanks Robb! -
One of those freefall slides at Raging Waters San Dimas. Going down the slide, my first instinct was to sit up and not lay down like you're supposed to, so at the bottom the force of the water caused my head to fling back and hit the slide...

Angels and Royals. It was a pretty boring game though. I was going to post links to the Trip Reports once this thread got off page 1. -

On Saturday, I took a day trip to Phoenix to see a spring training baseball game and go to Castles n' Coasters. It was a long day (5 hour drive each way) but I'm glad I can finally cross those credits off my list. Castles n' Coasters wasn't the best park, but of course, I wasn't expecting much. The place was very small and crammed in with rides, not to mention it was pretty crowded which didn't help. It didn't matter to me, because the park was just a quick credit run, but I feel bad that this is all Phoenix has... First up was Desert Storm. I guess it was a little better than I thought it would be, but it still wasn't really enjoyable. The loops were more forceful than a Schwarzkopf, but they came with a ton of rattle, throwing you around the train. Not the best first Hopkins impression. The trains were cool. On my way over to the other credit, I tried out Sky Diver. It was as close as it gets to an Intamin. This thing drops till the very bottom, and the best part is, you have no idea when you'll drop because the top of the tower is blocked by the car. Can't wait to try out Scandia's new one sometime. Patriot was basically Hopkins' version of a Vekoma Roller Skater. Very patriotic coaster. Not much else to say... Fess up nerds, you filmed a front seat POV. GRASS IN ARIZONA!...not. The log flume looked nice, but I passed. Just didn't really feel like getting soaked in that Arizona weather... Alright...I really just wanted to get out of the place. Daddy, who is that? Just look away. Just a few more Desert Storm pics on the way out. The coaster goes around most of the park, yet it's still hard to get pictures of. Not the best first Hopkins impression. And that was pretty much it with this park...the end. I basically just had this same loop and helix to work with. -

That's the thing that frustrates me about this ride. It looks like a ton of fun, a great ride for families, yet it has this horror theme, and then it's going to have a medical expert at the end of the ride...? It just has the wrong theme for what the ride is. -
You will have no problem on a giga or hyper coaster. Like others have said, if you have ridden a hyper coaster, there's really no difference between the two types. You really don't notice that you're 70-80 ft. higher up. I wouldn't get too caught up in the whole hyper/giga/strata thing. If they were all classified as hyper coasters would you ride them?
-
Nope...I used to try (not sure if I ever have) but I don't see the point in riding rides that I really don't enjoy, just for the point to ride every coaster in the park. Deja Vu, Colossus, Revolution and Scream! are the main ones in this category. I'd much rather re-ride other coasters in the park that I can actually have fun riding, like X2, Goliath, Batman and Terminator.

I'm guessing that's the seat divider in the middle...? I guess you would just go on either side of it; seats look pretty small from that view though. -
Intamin doesn't choose to build the biggest and fastest. It's all what the park wants. As for all the Intamin love, what is not to love about them? I can understand the restraints being an issue on some rides, but for the most part I find Intamin's a lot smoother than B&Ms because all 12 B&Ms I've been on have a lot of rattle. If Maverick is your #1, you get why Intamin is awesome!
