Steel Phantom

I'm curious because I don't know, but has Millennium Force ever valleyed? I just have a hard time believing it would because it hits the breaks at 50+ mph doesn't it? Several times. A test cycle train will not return from the island without water dummies on cool mornings.

The guest was in car 2 or 3. I was not on platform so I cannot pinpoint when the operators would have been aware of what was happening to E-stop the ride, but the fact that the queue was aware something was wrong before we could even see tells me it was known soon after dispatch.

I completely get the procedural logic as I've operated a coaster myself, but I don't feel a seizure is an evacuation concern. I would think stopping the ride and letting the guest maintain consciousness with an EMT on the catwalk would be the best procedure rather than subjecting them to a rather aggressive ride and ultimately passing out. Mind you, the train was maybe halfway out of the station when operators were aware of what was happening.

if that's true it's extremely bad and one or more people deserve to be fired and/or or given 50 non stop rides on Kong. Certainly and it does sound plausible given how apathetic ride OP's on the "lesser rides" have been in my visits. I'm sure some idiots have faked stuff after boarding as well so that might play a part in it. the good news, boomerang is literally right next to first aid. Though first aid is right next to the aligator and tortise pit so if you happen to die in the park. Well, they'll save money on meat... right? If that report is accurate, that ride op could very well find him or herself in court. Ignoring an apparent medical emergency is not funny at all. To claim that Boomerangs have no emergency stop is ridiculous. You can't always immediately stop the ride instantly, but there's always some kind of E-Stop. Exactly. It was total ignorance and an inhumane lack of empathy for the guest. We were in shock and just had to stand there and watch it all happen as the coaster completed its cycle. The ride ops then attempted to defend themselves after the cycle by saying "If you have an issue you can speak with management"

I hate to spoil the media day fun but my friends and I visited the park on Sunday for the first time and witnessed the most disturbing ride operation we have ever seen. We were in line for Boomerang, our last ride of the day, when a train began to dispatch. We could soon sense some tension by guests on the platform and then, once the vehicle was visible to the queue, we could clearly see a guest having a seizure on the ride. Guests on platform and in the queue were shouting to stop the ride. The ride operators did nothing and told us they "couldn't stop the ride" which my friends and I know well is a total lie. The operators had a huge time window to stop the ride and simply stood there and just watched, not even acting concerned, and let the ride complete the entire cycle. Not surprisingly, the guest came back passed out. We're in the process of notifying connections we have to corporate. This incident was the most disturbing act of operations ignorance we have ever seen at a park. We simply left the line and headed home is disbelief.

I actually don't think they painted over the worn parts on the rails. If you watch the first Rougarou File they released last fall you notice the painters avoided the worn areas. Here is a link to the clip. This would make sense as they painted the worn areas on Millennium Force and paint was stripping off those areas very soon into that season.

I too enjoy Viper a lot. The experience and forces come from an era before high-tech computer analysis and fabrication. Remember, once the large Arrows are gone, we will NEVER have coasters like them again. I honestly feel that the coaster community should be worrying about preservation of rides like Viper and Vortex at KI and appreciate what are essentially the last of an era in coaster history.

Might as well say disabled people don't have feelings or opinions either. Wow. Doesn't hurt to be happy for someone else. An acceptable option would be a dual loading station, but that obviously is not in the plan. So for now, be happy that some army vet might be able to ride, and pick his seat, just like you. Let's also remember that 99% of guests will not know there is a lap-bar only version of the ride on the west coast. Which to me means that Busch is not reducing anyone's experience except enthusiasts, but enhancing the experience of the park's disabled guests. In all, a commendable thing to do and a great PR move.

This is just personal opinion, but accommodating for guests with disabilities never becomes ridiculous. I'm not saying that every roller coaster in the world should be retrofitted with shoulder harnesses to accommodate the disabled, but if a park wants to make sure that someone with a physical disability won't get left behind as their friends and family go ride the park's exhilarating new roller coaster, I say let them go for it. I'm willing to be a little less comfortable during a ride that lasts less than two minutes if it meant more people could experience it with me. Yes, ok, but why ALL the seats then? So they can sit wherever they want, just like you.

Busch Gardens / Sea World is one of the largest advocates for restraint designs that allow for disabled guests to ride. This is why you may have seen those red anchor plates on the backs of a couple of B&M seats at their parks. The OTSR are not a result of Busch being overly cautious for the able rider. They're being conscious and (likely) providing an attraction that will not exclude those certain guests that Six Flags / Cedar Fair policies may exclude.

RCDB claims the coaster is operating in the Philippines http://rcdb.com/10581.htm I was hoping PA would get this Arrow loop-screw but as time passed I figured it was not going to happen. I had assumed it would be scrapped actually.

I've enjoyed parks and coasters since I was a kid (9 or 10). I was lucky to have ridden the Steel Phantom, my first major coaster, but it was the construction of Phantom's Revenge that really got me into things as the project was easy to follow on the newly emerging internet. Now I design theme parks/attractions for a living. Dream big, work hard, and never give up!

They are most likely required for safety of guests during an evacuation. I am aware that the Intamin gigas don't have them but I'd guess B&M does this as a preventative measure. It's a relatively low cost life safety device so it only makes sense.
