  1. I believe that's a Vekoma Waikiki Wave. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom had one for several years called Quake. It was perpetually broken. In the 13 years it was there, I only managed to ride it 3 times. The best way to describe the ride is that it's a Top Spin whose arms rotate independently and whose gondola does not invert. Truthfully, all the ride really did was put you in the air & shake the hell out of you and when you combine that with Vekoma restraints... Edit: Here's a video of one in action It is pretty much as boring as it looks.
  2. Exellent PTR. One of the better ones I've seen from WCB this year. Great shots and great mix of shots. I've got to make it out there one of these years...
  3. That is a particularly agressive spyware program. I've seen it dozens of times. Download & Install MalwareBytes and it should be able to get it out of there. Good luck.
  4. I have three way tie: Probably my most impressive one (to you guys) comes from my home park of Holiday World. I was at an ERT event there with a non-enthusiast friend of mine. We were eating at the event dinner and sitting by ourselves. Pat Koch sat down next to us for dinner. We were talking about our day and for some reason started asking her about Holidog; specifically how many they have. It was kind of funny, because you could tell she really didn’t want to answer the question. But she then explained that they have two costumes and then she really started opening up about it and told us that they had a third but it was stolen. She got pretty excited about it and said, “I guarantee that it’s on a college campus somewhere!” After some more chit chat with her, Will came over and sat next to us as well. He told Pat that the park was almost cleared for ERT and then talked with us for a minute. I was surprised when he told us he was always nervous about speaking to crowds because he never knew if what he was going to say might disappoint. My friend suggested ending all his speeches with “free fudge for everybody!” He laughed and then he went and gave his speech. It's wasn't a "totally geeky" moment to me because you almost can't go to HW without seeing at least Pat (if not both of them). However, it was definitely more geeky/personal than the usual greeting/dialog you get from her. Number two was repeatedly riding the font seat of Mamba at Worlds of Fun trying to get a good On-Ride photo of me with my TPR shirt on. After an hour and a half, I still couldn't get one I thought was worth $10 so I gave up. And finally for number three: A Big Mike meetup in 2009
  5. I am sure there is much more to this story. It makes no sense to leave a child period and especially for a weird ass reason like "to look for the mother." I'm sure by "to look for the mother" he really meant "go get drunk at the strip club". But hey, that's just me. What would I know?
  6. ^ I vote for Pig Pen's ice cream. I love that guy. He's second only to this guy:
  7. So what do you tell your crew when guests keep waving and saying, "Hi Jizz Man!" when they see you?
  8. An interesting promotion to say the least. What's really scary about it though is ever since I heard about it, I've been thinking, "I wonder if this pee would be smelly enough to win" everytime I go to the bathroom. That's just not normal. And BTW, somebody needs to tell R Kelly about this contest.
  9. Want some bootleg Club TPR discount info? Your card will get you into Holiwood Nights this year and $13 off your ticket to Holiday World anytime! http://www.holidayworld.com/clubs
  10. FYI - Conan is now offically on Twitter: http://twitter.com/ConanOBrien I expect good times.
  11. Well J Man and Hyyper have set the bar incredibly high, but I'll give it a shot. I'm going to try and brute force the win with THREE TIMES the Gary! G to the 3rd Power - Official Entry
  12. They're talking about the Member Number. (00003 on KidTums card). I guess having a lower/specific number makes it cooler...
  13. I can't stand people who wear pajama pants in public. When did this become even remotely socially acceptable?
  14. Awesome TR. That Manta signature shot is like a postcard! In fact....
  15. Can't wait. I'd gladly donate the $40-$50 fee just to keep TPR running. Getting a club with all of these awesome perks is just bonus! Slightly off-topic, but can anyone give more detail on the KI walkback? And if a friend and I go and I have a card but he doesn't, he's screwed right?
  16. --Is it easy to set up a wireless network? Yes, it's very easy. You'll basically just plug it all in, name your wireless network and give it a password (for security) and you're off! Just follow the instructions that come with the router. It will come with a CD that will step you through the whole process. --Our laptop lists wireless connectivity as 802.11 b/g. Does that mean that we have to get a B or G router? Does that mean an N router wouldn’t work? An N Router will work just fine. You could also buy a G router if you wanted. Think of the letters as "speed". A is slowest. Z is fastest. Right now, the fastest you can get is N. If you get an N router, but your wireless card is a G, it will work but you can only go as fast as your card will allow (in this case G). Don't worry though, G is still plenty fast and will serve you well. (Note: Don't be too concerned with speed differences. N is a relatively new technology. 90% of all wireless networks you'll find out there will be G. So if you've been on a wireless connection elsewhere, you already have a good idea of what to expect from G in terms of speed.) --Any recommendations on specific brands of routers? Just stick with the big players and you'll be fine. Netgear, Cisco, Linksys, D-Link. I've installed this one with ease and great results several times. --Do we need a certain router to be able to do wireless printing? Just about all of them should be able to do it. Some make it easier than others to setup that function though. If you have a friend who has experience setting up wireless printing, it would be worth your time to recruit their help. --Do we need to buy a new printer that says it does wireless printing or would any printer work for wireless printing? Most printers can be forced into wireless printing but as mentioned above, it can occassionally be a real pain. If you were getting a new printer anyway, it couldn't hurt to get the one that touts that feature. It would hopefully be an easier implementation. --Do you have any recommendations as far as anti-virus and/or spyware programs? Are any of the free versions any good? I want to make sure our new laptop is well protected! Several of the free versions are outstanding. In particular, AVG Free for antivirus and MalwareBytes for Spyware detection & removal. Good luck and enjoy your new computer!
  17. Hey! My prophecy seems one step closer to reality:
  18. I think in the neighborhood of $15.
  19. That makes sense to me and is an acceptable answer.
  20. Hey all you fellow McDonalds lovers out there. McDonalds is running a nationwide sale over superbowl weekend. 50 McNuggets for $9.99! It runs until Midnight on 1/7. Go get your nugget on!
  21. To all those begging for HW to get a steel looper: You've got to remember that HW seems to expand with a "cash on hand" philosophy. They put in smart upgrades using only the money they have. I've never seen them go deep into debt to put in anything new. Think about this: Their largest capital project ever was the Thanksgiving addition. That cost $10M total. Land Prep/Voyage/Gobbler Getaway/Buildings/Etc. =$10M. Now a basic B&M invert starts around $10-$12M with customs and other models being more. Intamin is the same. Think about Maverick. That is just the sort of coaster that would be perfect for HW. Maverick = $24M. I'm just not sure HW is willing to spend/risk the kind of capital it would take to stick a world class steel coaster in there. And they also wouldn't just put in a piece of junk. Nobody wants an awesome steelie at HW more than me, but I'm not sure when (or if) it will ever happen. If they won't buy new, I guess a good scenario would be if Hard Rock/Freestyle closed and they picked up Led Zep/Time Machine for $8-10M. But I'd bet FMP could sell it for more than that to someone else. In the end, Holiday World is not stupid. They know the public wants an awesome steel looper. I'm sure they have a plan to add one at some point. The big question is when...
  22. Oh man, I hadn't even considered that. It was crazy before, but with the SFKK overflow it's going to be absolute meyhem. I hope HW is ready.
  23. This one is funny on so many levels:
  24. I can offer this advice: First time cruisers will usually pick Carnival or Royal Caribbean for their cruise line. Having been on both (Carnival Paradise & R.C. Explorer of the Seas), I can say that you will not have a bad time or experience on either, but the Royal Caribbean ships are so much more opulent and luxurious even when compared against Carnival's magnificent ships that I do not ever see myself cruising on any line but R.C. again. Thankfully, we took a Carnival cruise before we took a Royal Caribbean. Had it been the other way around, we probably would have been mildly disappointed with the ship. So if you are on the fence about cruise line, do yourself a favor and go with Royal Caribbean.
  25. I might be very late to this party, but have you guys seen this 70 Minute Review of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace? This is hands down the best analysis about this mess of a film. It is 100% on-point and backs up its assertions with logical proof. As well it is hysterical! Do yourself a BIG favor and watch this whole thing. Yeah I know it's a 70 minute commitment, but it's way better than any movie I've watched in the last two months. If you like it as much as I did, then you'll also enjoy the film maker's recent review of Avatar Granted, the Avatar review is nowhere near as long (or as slick) as the Star Wars one, but it fits the bill if you are left wanting more (as I was) after watching his first review. So again, do yourself a favor and watch this one. I was in stitches laughing and felt vindicated because someone finally expressed logically and irrefutably everything I thought was wrong with the movie too. I'd love to hear some other opinions on this one so post em if you've got em. What's wrong with your face?
