Belantis Discussion Thread

So tomorrow they will put the last piece of the track into this coaster... I think its really a fast building record for a coaster! From the first announcement on March 15th till now, they just needed nearly two months to complete the track. So i think i will really open on schedule in june. A nice Pic from de-de.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=299215&id=120568761287526&ref=mf: and a nice old one of the top from the beginnig of the building (april 30th) from http://de-de.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=287127&id=120568761287526: -
Best and Worst Log Flumes
Kooky replied to gldude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
wondered that no one mentioned "Valhalla at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool". I`ve never ridden it, but what i heard it must be one of the best, with nice smoke, fire, water and ice effects ( i`ve heard they had a a snow room in the ride) and you really get wet... and the complete ride is very long, about 5 minutes i think. I am really looking forward to ride it one day. The Video shows some nice effect parts of the ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chL5lqfg-YA -

^^Yeah there are some photos, but not official ones... one guy (Source: http://karten.org/) shot some pictures of the fragmented train and "onride.de" might be good forum for you http://onride.de/viewtopic.php?t=58269&start=225! But like it was said the official homepage will anounce when it will be opened again... and this will take some time in my opinion! EDIT: What i forgot to mention is that the park lowered his entree prices. For the period while Exp. G-Force is closed everyone just had to pay the child price of 22.90 € instead of 26.90 € . -

Europa Park Discussion Thread
Kooky replied to Ultracoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it has something to do with one accident that happened in the park. If i remember right, they had one accident in EuroSat some years ago, were one mentally handicapped man jumped out of a Eurosat train because he freaked out from the dark and the loud sounds. This is the reason why they put more lights in it and reduced the volume of the sound for years. So maybe this is even one reason why they didn`t allow it to handicaped people... The other reasons will be, like you all said the safety, and maybe the sometimes very long queue lines... -

The train really did not derail completly, but a part of it did... it doesn`t stay correct on the track and the park really try to calm everyone down. It was luck that nothing happened and the park knows this. The park just tries to relativize the press and coaster fans worldwide... Can understand it, the (really nice) park seems to has many problems with his reputation and has to fight to survive. But what i finding more intresting is, that in german forums they were saying that they had many problems this day, and stopped the coaster for a longer period. And one guy mentioned that it smells the whole day after molten plastic and that it makes a strange noise sometimes, before the brokedown. So there is my question!? Why didn`t the operator stops the coaster when they had problems!? If i remember right, on mindbender the operator stopped the train befor, because of strange noises, even the same in the disney park coaster crash, where the operator reported, that he wanted to take the train out because of strange noises, but sends it on his fatal last round. So what i want to say is, that i hope the parks will train the operators especially to stop coaster if they making any strange noise, immediatly! If a train makes strange sounds, its comes in 90% percent from the wheels or other movable parts. They should be reminded that strange sounds on such machines could be deadly at any time.... i think the most coaster accidents could have been prevented by doing this. and i don`t want to blame anyone (the manufacturer, the park nor the operator)... just remind them that they working with big, fast deadly machines, with people on it, everyday... sometimes maybe they forgot this -

there is a really nice german report about the gerstlauer manufacturing of the coaster... you can see in this report some trackparts of the new belantis coaster, the new eurofighter trains, the controllunit and construction of some other coasters like a Launched Eurofighter for Fujikyu Highlands japan.... By the way there are intresting photos of the refurbished Jet Star 2 "Black Hole" from Alton Towers, which is waiting for sale, in this report... An intresting point that the report mentioned was that they could build the belantis coaster so fast because it is the one which were build for the F1-X Park in Dubai, which realization is not really sure... so here is the link to the report, with the really nice pics you shouldn`t miss as coaster fan: http://www.coastersandmore.de/previews/belantis/belantis.shtml -

There are some short holidays in Germany which were called "Pfingstferien" they were from 21st or 25th may till 06th june. In this time the park is normally extremly crowded.... so if you can, you should go there before or after these holidays. Then i think it will be okay... and most times i don´t go wednesday because of the french people which have their no school, then its mostly very crowded, too. When it is crowded i would prefer a two days ticket to ride everything... and by the way there is a series of videos from crazy bets what you can do on rollercoaster, like changing clothes, or shaving during the ride on bluefire.... i thaught you have to see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TTA40mFp8U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh7VKPJfM-o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=802OtQ6_MlI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1Ux0NNMqjI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foCmeR1xATc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2ks6F8w7zw -

really impressive simulation: http://www.belantis-board.de/stuff/achterbahn.html by the way, in one press article they wrote ( http://nachrichten.lvz-online.de/leipzig/citynews/freizeitpark-belantis-neue-achterbahn-wird-im-sommer-eroeffnet/r-citynews-a-21964.html ): " .... Wer die zu erwartenden langen Wartezeiten umgehen möchte, kann die Bahn auch stundenweise mieten und danach im benachbarten Event-Bereich grillen, wie Job betonte...." Translated it means, if you don`t want stay in the queue lines a long time, you can rent the coaster for some hours and have a barbecue in the area next to it. Never heard about a coaster which you can rent. -

So Georg, you were 1 minute faster so i added some other artworks from http://www.belantis-board.de/: and the no-limits pic from http://www.bild.de/: Like Georg said they mention that they will use new eurofighter trains with seats in a V-form like it is used in other new coasters (anubis) but i hope the redesign the eurofighters trains and they already have begun preparing for building it, you can find the first pics here . Hope they will really finalize it till july. -

^ i think so, too. I´m more and more convinced that it is a dropping rail, were the train then rolls backwards on the lower floor the rest of the track. -
Sadly i didn`t have more information about it, just that its operated by Gropengießer next to "Detmold" in Germany. But about the upstop: i think there is an form of upstop, if you look closely it seems that the loops were build with metalbeams. So maybe the sidefriction wheels worked as an upstop between the beam... can`t explain it better in english, in symbols it will look like this (the lines were the wheels and the brackets were the endwalls): [- -] <- hope you understand what i mean, but it is just a speculation Edit: Found a photo in this history report: source: http://www.hamburger-dom.de/englisch/rollercoaster.html

The old SpreePark in Berlin, Germany got an old attraction fixed. The park owner repaired the old train, with which you now can ride through the complete park for a few Euros per person. The next thing he wants to get alive again is the big ferris wheel, which he wants to repair in the next time. Looks like Berlin gets a very nice and world unique attraction in his old park, at least till they know what to do with rest of the park. The complete german newspaper article is here: http://www.bz-berlin.de/aktuell/berlin/witte-will-den-spreepark-wecken-article604625.html There is already a youtube video of the ride through the overgrown old park: And you will find many pics from the last months on http://forum.hidden-places.de/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/2244 Here are some of them: the now repaired train, sometime before it got fixed:

"ABC Powered Suspended-Ride for Potts Park
Kooky replied to Kooky's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Finally the abc-prototyp opened. Thanks to a report on Freizeitparkweb.de from the user "dasdi" its possible to show you some pics from the first day. "Dasdi" mentioned that the ride was really fun. Especially the last curves the trains swing up to 60 degree to left and right. But the ride is not fully operational at the moment, two things haven`t been realzied till yet: - it has not the final speed: When its ready they will increase the speed about 20%. - the interactive part isn`t working: when its done you will be able to control the speed of the trains by yourself.... So the ride seems to be fun and looks like a good expansion for this little park, even if its not really a coaster (or is it one!?). Edited: (if you haven`t seen the ride in action i remind you of the video from the tests which you can download from http://ladshoch.de/shareportal/app/template/Download.vm/d/F39D5F220BEF19678177531CEF84DCD5 ->you have to wait 10 seconds till the download starts, watch with VLC-Player) all sources from http://freizeitparkweb.de/cgi-bin/dcf/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=7353&forum=DCForumID4&viewmode=all EDIT: The park renewed his homepage. I think what you will like is intresting attraction: beside the two adult jumping boats there are two pedal powered kiddie jumping boats (many of the rides in this park are selfpowered): source: http://www.pottspark-minden.de/ -
