  1. LOL! Not to poke fun, but.... someone didn't pay attention in chemistry, I guess! I thought that was pretty much a given.... To be honest, I thought it stood for "August," the month of the announcement. No surprise, a lot of obvious tends to slip under my radar
  2. Wow, the "Au" in "Au13" just hit me. Congratulations CGA, this ride looks like a winner. While I've never actually been to the park, it sounds like something like this was exactly what the park desperately needed.
  3. On Six Flags New England's page saying to stay tuned for the big announcement tomorrow I would love to know where she was able to pick up day tickets to WDW that are cheaper than Six Flags'.
  4. Currently on my 8 hour break...it was the only way to make my schedule work for the week. I could watch most of the Lord of the R-i-n-g-s trilogy within this time if I wanted!
  5. Dragon Coaster at Blackbeard's Cave last Saturday
  6. Universal Studios Florida Busch Gardens Tampa Islands of Adventure Fun Spot USA Six Flags New England Hersheypark Santa's Village Six Flags Great Adventure Scream Zone Luna Park Astroland The Great Escape Funtown Pier Casino Pier Blackbeard's Cave There may be a Pennsylvania park in the near future, but nothing is set in stone. Overall, it's been a fun year thus far.
  7. There's a "B" in "Boomerang" I must admit, I was prepared for our park to get the Star Flyer. The plans were shown online, there was a spot everyone knew it would go. Suddenly, we know absolutely nothing of what 2013 will bring us. We don't know what it is or where it will go. All we know is that it will be a big ride that starts with the letter "B". This is pretty darn exciting and I can't wait for the announcement!
  8. Does the sound of two coasters racing in Rollercoaster Tycoon count?
  9. The sound of anti-rollbacks are classic without a doubt! I also have to admit that I like a little whistling from my wooden coasters (but not too much). I also love the sounds of the brake fins dropping on Intamin accelerators. You gotta love the B&M roar as well. But the winner, in my opinion, is the ominous hum that Vekoma GIBs make as the train goes up the back spike. No matter where you are in the park, you can hear it, and it always sound quiet and intimidating.
  10. I found a CD with a bunch of random/famous movie scores on them. I'm putting them on my iPod, and then it's off to the nearest public pool to blast the Jaws theme
  11. Does a renamed, relocated Batman Knight Flight count lol? Of the ones listed, I went with the Batman: the Ride clones. While I love Batman: the Dark Knight, I love how relentless the inverted counterparts are.
  12. I really don't understand how the concept of queues can be so difficult to understand for some people. When I was at the Great Escape last week, a woman and her daughter, who were in line for the second to front seat of Comet, jumped into the front row when the gates opened. The group waiting for the front (who happened to be the group in front of us) were totally baffled as to why two ladies just hopped into their seats. The woman said, "This is our row, you guys are in the single riders line". I then politely responded that the guys in front of me were in the correct line and that the single rider queue was next to the queue for the front. At first, she neglected my argument until I pointed out the sign that was clearly placed in the queue next to the front. Thoroughly pissed, she finally relinquished the seats to the people in front of us. She then said to me, "I was in front of you" and proceeded to cut me. Since my day had just started and I really did not want to argue (plus, I had only waited in line about three minutes), I let her go. She then mumbled how they ought to make the single riders queue and the queue for the front clearer. Lady, you were the only one who made the mistake. Admit you were wrong and take responsibility for it rather than blame the whole world.
  13. Tony Scott (director of Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cops II, Enemy of the State, The Taking of Pelham 123, Unstoppable, etc; and Ridley Scott's brother) committed suicide by jumping off a bridge. Very sad news, but I am somewhat interested in his reasons behind it. http://movies.yahoo.com/news/top-gun-director-dies-jumping-off-bridge-041553449.html EDIT: Apparently Scott had inoperable brain cancer, and from what I've heard, it is a very slow and painful death.
  14. So my favorite sandwich ever has won Adam Richman's Best Sandwich In America. It makes me feel good inside that I've been eating at DiNic's since before it got this prestigious accolade!
  15. When I was younger, doodling roller coasters on my social studies notes, I came up with a (crude) car design that had wheel bogies both on top and bottom. Then half way through the course, the train would switch from being a sit down coaster to an inverted coaster. I also doodled up a coaster with a 180 degree drop. As a joke, I built it in No Limits, and the G-force load would probably be enough to force every drop of blood in your body into your head. Finally...inverted strata coaster with an inverted top hat taller than Kingda Ka
  16. I saw the Google Street View car on my way home from work.
  17. Millennium Force, though I agree that there should be separate categories for wood and steel, especially since I love Millennium Force for entirely different reasons than Boulder Dash (my #1 woodie)
  18. The new leg guards on Bizarro were brought up a few pages ago, but got lost in the discussion of the Star Flyer. Here's a picture of them. Personally, they didn't affect my ride at all. In fact, I hadn't noticed them until today, even after waiting in a 45 minute line last week. Since I always keep my knees inside the restraints, they have not hindered the ride for me at all. The only crime they pose is being really ugly...
  19. I throw my vote in for Leviathan just because of its massive brake run that just seems to prematurely terminate the ride. Also, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. To me, it just doesn't seem to know what it wants to be, and while the many MCBRs make for efficient dispatches, it definitely gives more times to catch your breathe than many other thrill rides (even though I still really enjoy the ride). Finally, I have to throw in Hydra for reasons mentioned prior. I love roller coasters with strange layouts, it shows the creativity of the designers. Whether they ride well, however, that makes or breaks the coaster for me.
  20. First of all: I love your username Second of all: Where is this college so I can transfer and take your class? Third: I think you should talk about the history of Arrow Dynamics. I did a paper on it once, and it really is incredible all the feats they accomplished in their time despite most of their coasters seeming mediocre today. From the early work with Disney, to first tubular steel coaster, to Knott's Corkscrew, suspended coaster, mega-loopers, first hyper coaster, and first 4D coaster. Just my suggestions. Good luck with your class!!
  21. ^^That's horrible!! I figured that it was probably something along the lines of privilege abuse that took it out, but its a shame that terrible people like that group ruin it for those who do want to fill in the empty seats. Oh well, the Bizarro crew has been pretty efficient all season so waiting in the regular queue is never too painful. ^I was there yesterday. The line was maybe about 40 minutes. I don't remember how long it was when I first saw the sign. I only rode towards the end of the day and I was told I had to go through the regular queue. But all is well and good. When I got to the single rider queue in the station, the next guy waiting for the front happened to be by himself
  22. You know the phrase "too good to be true"? The sign was gone during my visit, and security continued to direct single riders through the regular queue. It seems that the external single riders queue has been reverted back to a station-only queue.
  23. ^Unfortunately, the predicted date does have leap years in mind. I think it has more to do with mathematical calculations than an actual quotation of the precise date. Here's an interesting (albeit complicated) article on both why leap years make no difference AND to why the end of the Mayan calendar is not the end of the world. Link
  24. ^Oh trust me, me and most of my friends have been steering clear of that dreaded button for some time. Timeline snuck up on me 100%. Apparently my profile looks fine for everyone else, but it will revert to Timeline in a week. I wish you both the best of luck in evading the Timeline contagion.
  25. Facebook Timeline... Yeah yeah, I know the argument that everyone eventually grows to love the new formats after several months of use, but Timeline has been around for months and I still think it looks ugly and it takes longer for it to load than the former format. Also, this "forcing upon" business feels almost threatening. But, this bitching is pretty pointless since I'm going to keep using Facebook anyway. I have no counterargument for the "If you don't like it, why don't you stop using it?" approach.
