The official NFL Discussion Thread
KPfreak519 replied to spaceace12's topic in Random, Random, Random
You couldn't have said it better. I like the Steelers but the whole Rodgers story, how he sat on the bench for five years and finally got to play, and won a Superbowl. Plus the Packers are like my mom's second team so she's happy, and the Packers really did deserve it because of how hard they worked. They knocked off the NFC's #1 and #2 seed in the playoffs. So even though I'm a Steelers fan, I have to say good for the Packers. Ya, I agree with everything said here, the Packers are the closest thing there is to the Steelers in terms of its franchise, its fanbase...just about everything actually. If I can stand to lose to one team in the Super Bowl, it's a Brett Favre-less Green Bay Packers (I hate Favre...) Although losing to the Capitals on the same day made for a pretty depressing night. -
What is your local park?
KPfreak519 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Technically, this is the closest park to me: http://rcdb.com/5497.htm But since I don't really count that, I consider Kennywood my home park (about a half hour drive across town) -
One thing that's interesting is nowhere have they confirmed Hathaway will actually take on the persona of Catwoman; Nolan confirmed that she will play the character (Selina Kyle) who eventually becomes Catwoman but seems to be avoiding actually saying that "Catwoman" will be in the film, so it will be interesting to see what happens there. For all we know this could be like when the Spiderman series had Dr. Connors (The Lizard) and eveyrone thought he would become The Lizard at some point and it never happened. I have faith Nolan can make this a good film though, Catwoman and Bane may not be the "best" character choices out there but both have backgrounds that fit Nolan's "dark" style and he could easily develop them into much more complex (and much less "cheesy") characters than they were in the 90's films.

New TPR Header Logo

Personally, I like the original logo for the "Theme Park Review" font best, however the new tag line is much better than the original and should be kept. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
KPfreak519 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If there is one thing I learned from the Nantimi fiasco, its that I might as well sit back and just wait for the actual announcement because Hershey is just going to toy with all of us. I wouldn't take a single clue they give as reliable lol -
I really liked it until the part in the new video...the part after the barrel roll and before the 2nd video clip looks a lot more...I guess boring...than I thought it would. From the leaked layout, that particular part looked like it was going to be the most exciting to me, and instead it's just a couple random straight non-launching sections (although Im assuming at least one of are going to be brake sections?) and another "surf curves" type thing (which, if it's anything like Sky Rocket's surf curves, is pretty disappointing...although if they are taken at a high speed they may not be, but that didnt look like the case from the video). I'm not usually one to complain about something before it's open, and aside from this latest clip I actually think it looks great, but I guess I just had my hopes really high for this particular portion of the ride and they got shot down lol. Of course, though, I can't really say anything until I ride it or it's even built for that matter - it could turn out better than it looks. Maverick did, at least.

I would still go here every summer if they never closed the amusement park side. I loved that waterpark, it was my second favorite waterpark next to Water Country USA, but the waterpark alone isnt reason enough to make the 2 hour drive there... I love Cedar Fair's parks but to this day I still truly hate them for closing GL -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I dont understand why some people seem so bummed about this, sure its *probably* not a coaster but I personally find the idea of a 400 foot starflyer-type ride to be pretty awesome, you might laugh now but when youre suspended 400 feet in the air in a chair like that for an extended period of time I bet its a lot more thrilling than it sounds...and it sounds pretty thrilling to me -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
KPfreak519 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At this point, I have learned not to doubt Hershey's ability to squeeze rides in tight spaces, but really I don't see how there can possibly be enough room to fit a station where the Tilt-a-Whirl is...I mean there's probably room for the station building itself but between Comet, the midway, Great Bear, and SDL I really don't see how they could fit a brake run, return to the station, and lift/pre lift there as well...they'll prove me wrong with some ingenious design if the station is indeed going there though. -

You guys, I think it's pretty obvious. It's clearly the world's first Hyper-Aquatrax. -

If I remember correctly Knowit predicted nearly everything right about Fahrenheit during the period leading up to its announcement so I wouldn't immediately dismiss him as one of those posters just making up bs to make people freak out... -
I know...did you read the letter he posted? I know he was just saying what everyone in Cleveland is thinking, but really he's the owner of an NBA franchise I thought he would deal with it a little more professionally. Here are some quotes...entire letter can be found here

Martin & Michalek > Gonchar I like Gonch but he's getting old and his production really started to decline this past year, I dont think resigning him was the right choice. Michalek brings the MUCH needed "defensive defenseman" aspect of the defense the Pens lacked last season (with the exception of Orpik), not only is he younger but he should take a lot of pressure off of Fleury and allow him to return to the much more reliable goalie he was in 08-09 (I personally think he only had an off-year because we got rid of half our cup-defense and put too much pressure on him). Martin doesn't entirely replace the spot Gonchar left but he fills the role of the offensive powerplay defenseman left by Gonch and should play a bit better defensively as well, especially since he comes from a division rival (who maybe we can beat this year now ). Overall, I think Shero made the right decisions...signing Michalek was one thing but signing both Michalek and Martin VASTLY improved our defense even with the loss of Gonchar, not too mention pretty much solves our biggest problem from last year. On the topic of the "missing star winger"- I remember around the draft I kept hearing about a center prospect we drafted a few years back named Joe Vitale who was supposed to be showing some good promise in WBS this past year...I had this idea that maybe at some point we should bring him up to be the 4th line center, bump Talbot to 3rd line center, and try out Staal as a 1st line winger for Crosby...is that too radical/crazy a move to actually happen or do other Pens fans think it's a good idea? -
S&S Launched Coaster Rising in Beijing
KPfreak519 replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ive seen lots of coasters with some wacky looking elements, but this is the first one I have seen in real life that looks like it was ENTIRELY designed by a little kid playing RCT...all of those turns and hills just look too wacky in those pictures lol -

I'm taking a trip to Cedar Point on Tuesday and I was wondering, can you still purchase discounted tickets at like Kroger or Meijer grocery stores? I know you used to be able to but I can't find any information on that offer for this year... -
I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Joyce doesn't make it out of the city of Detroit alive. That was possibly the worst call I have ever seen...not just how he was obviously out, but the magnitude of the situation as well.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
KPfreak519 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It makes me wonder why they had to trim it down THAT much? I can understand a little bit of trims, but I dont see why they needed to neuter it by 15 mph...and they basically have trims the entire length of the first drop...wouldn't even just half of that have sufficed? It disappoints me cause I was planning on getting there later this summer and after all those amazing reviews of when it opened, even if it's still great I'm sure it will just leave me wondering "what it could have been" -

^ I haven't been to HP in a few years but is there actually room in Comet Hollow? I know there's always the "HP finds a way when there is no room" but seriously I can't picture there being room for another B&M in CH...of course they will prove me wrong though lol -

We decided a really long time ago that the track wasn't for a flying coaster...or an invert, hyper, or dive machine. Ya but I completely forgot everything that happened in this discussion lol Thats the only confirmed B&M on rcdb within the last year that we don't really know anything about color or layout wise though -

Hey, I can get one of these two games and Im torn between them: Either Red Dead Redemption or Assassins Creed 2. AC2 Is a bit more enticing because it costs less but Red Dead Redemption looks really sweet and has online multiplayer....does anybody who has played/owned both have any advice on which I should get?

I might actually enjoy Corkscrew if they got those trains and they didn't bang my head around like no other
