Tonight was an IPA only night. Started off with a new brew, Titan IPA from Great Divide thanks to Rugged One. Very much a standard IPA, lots of hops, light in the alcohol finish. The Devil is spreading. Now he's taken over my shirt as well as my beer glass Next up, my favorite, HopDevil Not too amazing, but not too bad either. A nice starting IPA Titan, its not built by Arrow, and it doesn't have 2 helices and a STOP in the middle...

Trip Planning - Los Angeles Area 5/15/06
DerekRx replied to ECZenith's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I live nowhere near California, and have never been there at that time of year. However, I'd say 1 day at Knotts is more than enough time to ride all the coasters. I'm usually there so briefly I don't even have to pay for parking! The rides at DCA that get the longest lines are probably Soarin over California, and at that time of year, probably GRR or California Screamin depending on how many trains are running. Over at DL, the longest waits will be most likely Space Mt, Autopia, Roger Rabbit, Indiana Jones, and maybe Splash Mt. If I were you, I'd switch and do DL on Thurs and DCA on Friday, followed by more DL after DCA closes on Friday. DL is always more crowded, and a Thursday would be the better day to go there. -
What Is This? A NEW Beer from Anheuser-Busch
DerekRx replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Random, Random, Random
Looks good, hopefully I'll be able to find some next month. I don't think I've ever had a hoppy lager by Busch, this should be interesting. -
I had a Harpoon IPA up at Canobie Lake last year. It was pretty good for being able to get it on tap at an amusement park. I don't know much as of yet, but someone came running into my pharmacy to tell me I better get down to the Schyulkill Expressway, as an overturned beer truck has shut down the eastbound lanes of I-76. The truck hauling Fosters Beer overturned a little after 10 a.m. Tuesday in the eastbound lanes. At least it wasn't good beer! How ironic is it that all the people stuck in the traffic jam behind him are going to go home and drink?! Alcoholics from across the city came to help clean up...

woohoo for love on the vertical loop! Awesome follow-up, Tom! I almost died when I saw the "Bill" picture! I'm really glad to see them have such a great turnout for opening weekend. I guess American's are a bunch of wimps when it comes to this sort of thing, even I'd have to be pretty dedicated to go to a park when the temps were below freezing. I can't wait for June and Blackpool, at least then the temps will be above freezing....barely! -
Video Clip: INSANE SPINNING DELLS RIDE!!!!
DerekRx replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Consider it done, Tom! The only reasons I didn't partake in the dynamic duo's spin-a-thon was because I: 1. didn't want to send us into a time vortex and 2. I didn't want to pay to ride this. But in the UK nothing will stop me. We're taking these things to the eXtreme!!! (and I don't mean the 4th dimension/Valencia, CA) It was quite an enjoyment to watch them in person though! -

Awesome news, Wes! Glad you got your baby safely. Just remember, she (?) may be safe at Disney and Universal, but don't take her to the Wisconsin State Fair. The Arrow Pipeline coaster won't be too forgiving on sleekness like that! Stuck here with my Windose Toshiba Satellite...

I had one of these, sent it back because my beer button seemed to be broken. Never tried any of the other buttons though.

OK, after my IPAness of the evening, I decided to dedicate a beer to my good friend, Ed (Grampy) Nelson, who's in the hospital. After this past summer's trip to New Hampshire, I can't think of a more appropriate beer to drink in his honor than Old Heathen by Weyerbacher. Storm King Stout goes best when wearing a Storm King shirt. Followed my Old Heathen with another imperial stout, Storm King This one's for you "Grampy"! An imperial stout, for one great friend!

^^Mash-ups are great! I mainly got the Collision Course CD because I love LP, but Jay-Z ain't too bad either. My favorite mash-up still remains the Green Day/Oasis mash-up of Blvd of Broken Dreams/Wonderwall. Anyway, back on topic: "Please"- Staind

Thanks for the photos, Tom! I'm very excited about heading back there in June, though the crowds have me somewhat frightened. Funniest part is, there actually IS a crowd, even though its bitter cold out. If only some northern US parks would take the hint and open as we're all jonesing for a coaster ride! Looking forward to the rest... -
Wow! Congrats dude! Thats an amazingly good brew, still one of my favorites, though I can only get it like once a year when I head to California or somewhere out West. Hopefully it makes its way to my neck of the woods before too long! I'm very jealous....though I am still enjoying my local Victory brews (brewed only 40 miles away from me!)

Sorry babe, he's correct. If you look at the ingredients, it is kind of a beer, or a malternative in our language. I anticipated this evening ever since hearing some bad news at work this morning. Thanks to Rugged One and the weekend's beer trek/beer trading, I'm now equipped with lots of new goodies. First up was something I was very excited to try, but couldn't find it by the case yet around me, the Nugget Nectar by Troegs. Not to me there isn't! Speaking of Victory, is there anything better than HopDevil in a gold HopDevil glass?? Not shabby at all! I'm convinced the Troeg brothers have a handle on IPAs just like Victory does! Troeg's Nugget Nectar, would it be good?

WDW Trip Advice Needed!
DerekRx replied to FlyerACE1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well homey, since you're staying on property, the best thing I can tell you is go off of the "Extra Magic Hour" schedule. Essentially, the time you're going the places won't be too full, and you are on your honeymoon, so take it easy and have some time to do other stuff (while you can!) You should need only a few hours at certain parks, so when the time gets closer and the schedule is released for that time, a good rule of thumb is: 1 full day at MK 1 day split, start at AK, then to either MGM or Epcot 1 day start at MGM, then to Epcot 1 day start at Epcot, end at MK This way you'll be able to run to all the popular rides without waiting at the beginning of the day. The most popular rides will be: Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safari, and the always awesome dark dark Dinosaur! The Rapids shouldn't be too bad in the morning either. Soarin, Test Track, Mission Space (in that order) at Epcot Run to Tower, grab a fastpass, ride it, then head over to RnRC, then use your ToT fastpass. MK is just a clusterF. I usually start out with Big Thunder, then Splash and work my way back thru Adventureland. However, if you want to do Fantasyland stuff, start there first, as the lines will be lightest at the beginning of the day. You know from our last trip (with Grampy ) how quick you can be done with AK. Please also be sure to eat at lots of the hotel restaurants, my favorites being Boma at AKL, California Grill at Contemp, Artist's Point at Wilderness Lodge, and Spoodles and OF COURSE Big River Brewing at Boardwalk. You guys are going to have a great time. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with you, but seeing how I'll be in Germany, all storms will most likely be trying to get to me. You know I'd be there to interrupt your fun if I wasn't eating pretzels and drinking beers across the pond! -
Wow, you're old dude! Hope you enjoy your birthday party, even though no one is going to show up. Best celebrate with some patients with broken bones who need you to find the problem. Don't worry, I won't hate you forever, just long enough to forget that you're blowing me off to go to Disney World. Loser!
