10/9 - Goliath is vertical
ParkTrips replied to USRoadTripper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not to be mean but I posted photos like this on Friday Were you at the park today? I was.. for a little more than an hour. I rode 7 coasters by 11:15 (Cyclone, Scorcher, Batman, Mind Bender, Ninja, GASM and Superman). It was very light to start the day but as I left people really were beginning to pile in. Actually the teal supports are for the transfer track/shed area. The piece of track that is up is where the loading will be If you look near the piece of track you can still see the remnants of the Gasp's tower base. -
NEWS: Snyder's New Plans For Six Flags!!!
ParkTrips replied to ScOtT k's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not sure exactly what he means by that, especially since most food vendors in parks are from the outside. From what I read, he was talking about premium parking. Read the article again and tell me if I'm wrong. -

Family Trip to California
ParkTrips replied to yesac519's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was going to suggest a tour of the Van Nuys porn sets, but you are going with your family so........ (kidding, of course ) Do you think you could take the drive to San Diego and visit Sea World or the Zoo? They were both pretty good even if they don't have coasters. Also try to visit the various beaches up and down the shoreline, there's a lot of cool places and even some wacky stuff! -
I didn't even say anything about movies or resteraunts... But if there are hotels in the area why not put them on site for convinience (which would be a nice marketing tool), plus, then SF can get in on the money making. If you throw in perks like early entry or a line hopping pass, then it would be a great addition and draw some business in. If there are plenty of good hotels, I'd bet that there is a nice demand for rooms so why not try to exploit the demand? I know that the Y-piece is there I was just saying.........

If the ride has a dual station then only half of those "crank axle" sort of things are on site. I'm pretty sure there is one on each side of the train As for the stuff outside, I don't see where the company being in financial trouble would stop them from putting in hotels in an attempt to try to turn the park into a destination like they are doing in a small town in New Jersey (I vote for a hotel)

There are a few nice cameras, but in the end its all about personal preference. I love Canon cameras, so I personally would recomend the Canon ZR 200. They make a 300 model but it runs about $100 extra and its basically the same camera except the 300 can zoom an extra "2x" and it comes with an 8 meg card. That's not worth the extra money in my opinion. But.. as much as I like Canon there is something to be said about how much you actually like the camera. A lot of companys are producing good cameras (Panasonic and Sony are good as well) but you have to like the camera. Go to the store and take into consideration which one you would feel comfortably carrying around, which one is easy for you to use (Sony's can be tricky sometimes, though my Canon stillframe isn't too simple either). eh, I guess that's all I have to say, though I can leave you with a joke: "That's MY sex box and her name is Sony" - Joe

NEWS: Snyder's New Plans For Six Flags!!!
ParkTrips replied to ScOtT k's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
He only mentioned the premium parking, and I see no problem with it. The park I am most familiar with, Six Flags Over Georgia, only has a $2 difference in the price of "gold" and "standard" parking. -
NEWS: Snyder's New Plans For Six Flags!!!
ParkTrips replied to ScOtT k's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually think that a majority of Snyder's ideas are thoughtful and could end up working great. He addressed some concerns I've had for years: cheap season passes (and parking), over-spending on coasters and neglecting families too much. I would say I agree with about 90% of what he has to say.. I'd imagine it would be just like at football games where they have a couple of tables set up within the park and they may ask you to come talk to them when you walk by. IMHO no different than the people taking pictures at the gate, or the ones giving out samples of some new product or the people hawking cotton candy and lemonade in line. If it makes the company some money, I say give them a break and let them try it out. Let's actually experience such salesmen before writing them off as bad. I disagree there. I think it was Robb who pointed out the Paramount parks, and when compared to the level of attention to families that Paramount offers, SF is still WAY behind. I believe they were only refering to the old looney tunes, the Bugs' and Daffys of the world. The only concerns I have are that the whole corporate sponsorships thing could be taken a bit too far. I dont mind the log flume sponsored by a water bottler or the sky buckets sponsored by Delta, but I'd like for it to remain lo-key. For the most part, the rides in Universal were sponsored, and as long as the company name isn't in the name of the ride (ie Coke the Ride) I'll be fine. Really? What SF, the one that provides coaster junkies with some nice rides all while mismanaging the parks? Nah, I'd take one less coaster ever 10 years for a much better park thank you Me too!! YES! Most kids nowadays (sadly) don't relate to the old warner bros. characters too well. That's for sure. I doubt he'd be making these changes if he wasn't certain they would be productive. If they can attain the proposed tagline (Clean, Safe, Fun), I think they can turn it around -

I headed out to the park tonight (and updated my site here) Anyways, I couldn't help but get a kick out of the multitude of logos the park has used for Goliath. So, pick which one YOU like the best. Choice #1 - Logo from the latest renderings and sixflags.com photos Choice #2 - The one on the station in the latest renderings Choice #3 - The logo on the banners in the park Choice #4 - The logo from display set up in the park So, besides the premise that the park can't seem to make up its mind, which logo do you like the best?

Bitter about the strike? No, I know that was random, so I'll say something random: Almost all Braves fans suck. I hate the Braves.

"Over? What are you talking about? What kind of talk is that? It's un-American. Did George W. Bush quit even after losing the popular vote? No! Did he quit after losing millions of dollars of his father's money in failed oil companies? No! Did he quit after knocking that girl up? No! Did he quit after he got that DUI? No! Did he quit after he got busted for drunk and disorderly conduct at a football game? No! Did he quit..." -

Yep, I've cranked up the ol' RCT3 machine and Ive bene working on a park for a few days. I'll actually try to finish this one Anyways, a local developer has invested $325 million into a building a large amusement park on the shores of a local lake. So far little construction has occured but here are some photos gathered by our informant:
