How steep is the slope? Is it remotely fun, or more of a gimmick than anything? At least it doesn't look too packed -
hardtop = cool, the smartcar-like sardine top can go to hell

Isn't that what women* are for? * or men, or shemales, or barnyard animals, or porn, whatever you prefer.. -
Congrats on losing some serious weight! I think you're getting close to B&M range, depending on how broad your shoulders are

Mikey's MINI Travels
ParkTrips replied to TheSchwitek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As a petrol head, this thread is cool. Not a fan of the colors but Mini's are really cool little cars. The kiddie coaster story is one of the best examples of credit whoring I have ever read. -
The car lineup didn't impress me all that much (multiple Vipers, jacked-up truck, meh), but the garage is pretty kick ass. I love the fact that it is nearly the same size as his house - I've long joked that if I ever were to become wealthy, my garage would have room for more cars than my house would bedrooms I'll have a cool car one of these days...

Google Plus Discussion/Invites

I think, like most early iterations of new technology, there are some pros and cons, but for the most part, I see this as having some potential. The problem is that facebook's value comes in having half a billion or so members... -
I think you guys are being too critical of the park - are we sure that training was inadequate? You could pay ride ops million dollar salaries, and put them through training 7 hours a day, with only 1 hour of actual operation, and accidents would still happen occasionally. Major accidents are already incredibly rare, and there really wouldn't be much of a return on increased training or pay so long as they aren't grossly negligent (which may be the case in some 3rd world theme parks)

I don't remember the exact price and time (and it may have changed in the 5+ years since I visited), but Martin's was about $10 after 5PM. Silver Comet alone is worth $10, and you don't need more than a couple of hours for the park. Its up near Niagara Falls if you're into natural wonders and crap

The family of the kid decapitated by Georgia's Batman took it pretty well early on too - still filed suit. I hope the courts find the guy at least somewhat negligent as well - though it sounds like the ride operators will be the ones who get most of the blame, I'd like for people to realize they have to be responsible for themselves to some extent as well. Dude has no legs, unless they were blown off Thursday, I'd like to think he knows his limitations by now. What a terrible situation. And Ed Markey, go fuck yourself.

I've only flown business class a few times, but I have always gotten the impression that it is quieter - almost like the silent car on a commuter train. I can understand the passengers resistance towards babies, and the airlines' desire to keep their top-paying customers happy. I wonder if there would be a way to swap out a baby who just won't calm down with, say, a coach passenger on a full-fare ticket? And perhaps compensate the displaced parent? I am in the camp that fat or smelly people are way more annoying than babies. You can at least put on headphones for babies or talkative people..

An interesting debate has come up on various travel sites/blogs this week: should babies be allowed in first class? nytimes link Malaysian Airlines has said that babies <2years will not be allowed in first class, due to the potential for crying fits and the lack of baby-changing stations. Since we have a lot of travelers here, what do you think?

Six Flags raises parking fees.
ParkTrips replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Six Flags went into bankruptcy because they became insolvent. They ran up too much debt with their massive capital expenditure in the late nineties/early noughties, and couldn't meet some long-term obligations. Parking fees had nothing to do with it -- in fact, they have been much more successful with the current model -
Congrats on the new piece of German brilliance!!

it was actually much higher before they did a split - but this is a completely different release of stock, the original holders lost everything and were not granted any of the new stock, they had to invest all over again. The company seems to be doing fine despite the parking fees -

Really? You expect to park for free? I could see if maybe the rate is unexpected, but not the fact that you have to pay to park. -

I think there is a difference between valet parking for a casino/airport/restaurant where you likely won't be walking much after you get out of the car, and a theme park where you will do at least 1-2 miles of walking that day. What's an extra 100 yards at that point? You might like Dollywood though - pretty much an entire parking lot devoted to handicapped spots, well-run trams, and motorized scooters galore. -

stop trying to use math! (I did something similar several pages back, and the difference for a family of 4 becomes even more absurd - the cheap people still didn't buy it) removing the middle part of his sentence, I find this: so he didn't communicate his point very clearly if that's what he meant.
