  1. The saddest part of the park was the bumper cars, where you are instructed "NOT" to bump into other cars. WTF??????? We were waiting in line and watching the drivers avoiding each other. The rules were in Finnish, but Tommioh was nice enough to interpret them for us, we were going to ignore him. The ride op sensed our mischievous nature and read the rules in English. However, I was riding with the Brit Crew and the Brits are bad drivers so we could only go so long without bumping. Kieppi was the name of the awesome flipping flat ride. I got a kick out the the glass maze and the 3D horror walk through, also. Lots of unusual stuff that was good but not great Oh, I completely forgot about the incredible 3D movie where a disgruntled worker takes over a funhouse. I watched it twice.
  2. Thank you. I am adding a lot of these pictures to TPR's Park Index. I'm sure Robb and Elissa will find these very useful when they plan a TPR trip to Brazil.
  3. Yeah I agree. Not to mention that I went to SFGAdv in June of 2008 (went to the park 3 days in total) and had ZERO problems with line jumpers and didn't see a single one the whole time. There were TONS of school groups there too, mind you. Line jumping rarely happens there, and on rides like S:UF, GASM, B:TR it's very difficult to do. Line cutting is not that difficult on any ride, all you need is a someone pushing past people and saying excuse me. While I haven't seen it happen nearly as often at SFGAdv over the past 3 years, that is probably because I rarely go to SFGAdv on crowded days. It should not be the responsibility of the patrons to stop this from happening. I have seen on ocassion when the guards are pre-occupied trying to remove other line cutters from the line that they don't see new people cutting. I can't state SFGAdv's current policy on line cutters but in the past I have pointed out line cutters to security and they claim they can't do anything if they did not witness it. At SFGAdv I have never seen security guards just wave people through after setting off the metal detector. However, the fact that they don't check people coming back in with hand stamps doesn't make sense. If the OP did encounter line cutting as bad as he said, that and the lack of metal detectors for those re-entering are his only valid complaints. And for those who suggest getting a free glass of water at SFGAdv, I'd gladly pay $4 for a bottle of water before drinking New Jersey water. New Jersey water is horrible.
  4. You know your family a lot better than us. Cedar Point = If your family is most interested in coasters. Universal, Floridda = If your family wants more than coasters and an immersive them park experience. People can give you all the recommendations you want. However, you probably already know enough about the parks to run your knowledge through the filter of what your family likes and dislikes to make your own decision.
  5. ^Fact: You made the following post. Now you say you didn't call the poster a liar. Now if you said, I didn't mean to call her a liar. We could understand. The reason we as moderators are getting all over you is simple. Personal attacks will not be tolerated, Robb has asked us to keep the forums civil. It's a blurry line between not believing a post and calling someone a liar, but as moderators we are drawing that line. Not too many people here believe M&M's post, but let's refrain from personal attacks. Midget Launch
  6. Congrats to sharwoo - He has earned a 24hr ban! BTW his excuse is the same rhetoric he spewed back at Wes last month when Wes asked you nicely that he follow the site's rules.
  7. Funny you mention that, I heard on Sports Radio this morning that ESPN has made no mention of the Roethslisberger accusatons on the air due to the fact that Big Ben is expected to be the most recognizable athlete to the watchers of the Shaq show.
  8. When you gave the description of the park and neglected to mention the water rides, I was afraid you had no pictures of the water rides. You didn't happen to get any pictures of the group feeding carrots to the horses did you?
  9. ^Could be done but they are all at least 2-3 hours off the paths the original poster has suggested. He appears to be looking for options close to I-80 and/or I-76 and I-78.
  10. Sharwoo - I deleted your last attempt at a post. Feel free to repost, but please use proper English, including punctuation and grammar next time.
  11. True it would seem impossible that a coaster of this height could attain the stated speed through just gravity. However, I also have a very reputable source that tells me that Kings Dominion has hired a legion (that's 3,000 - 4,000) of midgets, dwarves or vertically challenged indidviduals. These individuals will work in shifts and push the cosater cars down the first drop, creating a human powered launch. Yes, times are tough with this economy and little people don't eat much and they have been contracted to work only for food. The Lollipop Guild had no choice, it's tough to get work nowadays, so this will save Cedar Fair and Kings Dominion on the total cost of the ride. We Will Work for Food!
  12. I don't know how much extra time you have but taking I-80 on the way out to Cleveland puts you close to Knoebels. Driving back on I-78 and I-76 brings you close to Kennywood, Hersheypark and Dorney. Knoebels and Kennywood are two old school parks worth visiting. Actually driving from New York to Cleveland it is easier to get off at Exit 232 (Buckhorn) when visiting Knoebels.

  14. Hopefully, it won't be SBNO for 3-4 years this time around.
  15. Since this thread is no longer about a coaster accident in a crappy movie and more about just the crappy movie, I have banished it to the Random Forum.
  16. ^Don't forget the wait we had to get into the park. Operations were far better in 2006, I think this problem falls more on the new owners than anything else.
  17. You might as well hear this from a moderator, before a backseat moderator comments. The PTR is not bad, but this would be much better if you were more judicious in the selection of pictures you posted. Is there really a need for the ones that are out of focus and blurry?
  18. I think most people would consider it one of their Top 10 coasters, so please discuss here. Top 10 coasters ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Or better yet you can use this thread. Your Favorite Coaster ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Or if you want to ride the same coaster over and over before you die, you might as well own it, you can post here. If you could own a coaster ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't mean to be harsh, but this is too similar too a few existing threads.
  19. The kid wasn't a dummy, he was valedictorian of his High School class.
  20. A sycophant is much more skilled in his brown nosing abilities.
  21. Thie is pure speculation on my part. The ride op tries to grab the door to make sure it is properly closed, but does this while the car is very close to leaving the station. The car swings toward the ride op then forward momentum from the cable pulls the car forward while the ride op is still holding on to the door. Then a split second later he is already past the edge of the ride platform and still holding on.
  22. Everyone needs to remember that coaster enthusiasts represent a very small percentage of park attendance. Catering to coaster enthusiasts (or any small demographic) is a bad business move. As I have noticed in this hobby, coaster enthusiasts are going to travel to a park to ride a new coaster whether the new coaster is a massive new installation or a family coaster. Overall this looks like a great installation for Efteling. It's a people eater, can blend in well (since it won't be too high) and the GCI smoothness should appeal to many. Most of the time, I'd rather ride a large coaster over a dark ride or small coaster, but a large installation can't just be easily plopped down in any park without it destroying the aura of the park.
  23. Wow, this is shocking! A coaster enthusiast who think a thrilling ride put into the middle of a very laid back, well themed family oriented park. Do you think all the Disney Magic Kingdom's need B&Ms and SkyScrapers to provide more thrills?
  24. ^While you are fixing the Shift key, try to fix whatever prevents you from using Spell Check.
