  1. ^ and ^^ I will refrain from calling anyone stupid or crazy. However, saying that a Volare is "thoroughly enjoyable" or "pretty fun" should never be uttered by an intelligent and/or sane person.
  2. Maybe I missed it, but did Jeff say anything about the special idol. Usually at this point doesn't Jeff announce that idols can no longer be played. I know Tony said he was going to act like it could be played next week, and maybe the producers are going along by not saying anything to make it more interesting. Can it be played by Tony next week?
  3. I'm sure I'm forgetting details and specifics but here's the gist. Harrison Hightower takes an idol "Shiriki Utundu"from an African tribe and returns to his New York penthouse with the idol. However, the idol is cursed and plunges the elevator in the Hightower Hotel to the ground. Presumably killing Hightower, who has disappeared. The hotel closes, but years later the Hotel is reopened for tours, and you are one of the guests.
  4. The rain stopped just as I got to Coney Island today so I took some photos, but I was overcast and foggy, so I don't have to apologize for the crappy photos this time. Seriously! A flaming bag of pooh would deliver more than a Volare model. Rumors of the loop being completed are true. A crane was moving part of the sign, but I didn't stick around to see the results. I took photos from all possible angles, except the angles blocked by preparations for tomorrow's Brooklyn half marathon. I would estimate that 80% of the supports are in place along with 60% of track pieces. Pure estimates. Supports for the turnaround are practically against the existing sidewalk on Surf Avenue. One last glance looking out to the ocean.
  5. Took me forever to get those stupid headbands for Lois. Still waiting on one seashell for Mermaid Peter
  6. Today's update. Progress continues and I could visible see about 50% of the footers in place. There may be more in place as the ride is low to the ground in certain places. Observation. The coaster only takes up 1/3 of the lot it is sitting on. This this completely escaped me until now, not sure what is happening to the eastern 2/3 of the parcel in the future. BTW: The MegaWhirl that Thor Equities was supposedly going to force the owners to move back in November 2012, still sits in the same spot. Signage has arrived. This excites me and... no one else. The loop de loop appears to be 63.8% complete. I also never noticed the swoopiness of the hills in the concept art. This view give a good indication of the amount of room left in the parcel. Reverse angle shot
  7. ^Thanks, I actually already lifted most of them from your PTR last night
  8. Yes, that is fine.
  9. What do you mean "post ideas"? Please provide some examples. The moderators try to keep the sight neat and organized, please take some time and familiarize yourself with the site and it should be logical where different "ideas" can be posted. Threads such as this exist in the main forum themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=66766. But please use the SEARCH function before starting any new threads, there are many "idea" threads floating around. Also please do not start any comparison threads (Hey guys what's better SFMM or Cedar Point) unless you are trying to get ideas for trip planning purposes.
  10. ^I really liked the park on my one visit. I would love for this to me as good as Wooden Warrior as I'm not impressed by the wooden coasters located northeast of Connecticut.
  11. One of the exciting new installations that has not gotten much attention this off season is Roar-o-Saurus. While it is only 40 feet tall and 37 MPH and classified as a family coaster, but if the coaster is anything like its cousin at Quassy enthusiasts will be pleased also. The park is hoping to have the ride open when the park opens for the season on May 24th. The attached video shows some graphics of the ride and gives a background on the coaster's story line http://www.wmur.com/news/new-roller-coaster-at-story-land-garners-national-headlines/25702708
  12. Probably because they waited an hour plus to ride that ride and want to try and find out if there's a chance it'll open back up shortly, to wait it out or they just wasted a whole hour out of their day because that ride won't be reopening, go find something else. It may be annoying to you, but think of the poor schmo that waited all that time in the heat for nothing. Uninformed guests who don't understand the following
  13. What annoys me is when customers ask the ride operators why a ride is not running.
  14. Love that photo of the Cobra topiary at Pualtons
  15. After being warned about Mr Fish for the whole trip this was the first encounter (we never saw him in Beijing or Wuhan) and he was quite tasty. I would have like to see what they did in the Ghost Ship if you called ahead and asked for an intensity level of 8. I'm sure it wold have been actors physically touching you instead of just the freaky brooms they touched you with.
  16. The bench directly across from the ride is a great place.
  17. You should start a thread. There are a lot of parks and coasters in the vicinity. Some are good and some are bad. TPR members love giving their opinions in threads of this kind.
  18. Never plan a trip to the US to catch a ride right after the projected opening day, too many rides have unexpected delays.
  19. Divv, I can't remember what you got at that Pizza Hut outside Amazing World, but my pumpkin and bacon lasagna was good, 3rd time on the trip. I loved every time the guides tried to force a Chinese meal upon us The Alveys insisted on Pizza Hut. My $1 day-glo shirts were almost worth the price. I think this was the first day of the trip I felt sorry for Neil. He's a sorry chap to begin with, but I really thought the poor boy would melt into the ground between this point and the end of the trip. Those shrimp dumpling at Chimelong Paradise were insanely good, went back for seconds.
  20. Thanks for the photos of the new rides.
  21. It still get very busy, with the ideal time to hit it being first thing in the AM. If you want to do it but the coasters are your first choice then ride it right after Kingda Ka. You might have to wait 45 minutes, but it's better than taking a chance waiting for Kingda Ka, which is subject to breakdowns and weather issues.
  22. Of the remaining people, I can't fathom any challenge Trish could win. I know she was an in shape Pilates instructor when the season started but she seems spent now. I can't imagine Kass winning one either, she is supposed to be smart but I haven't seen her shine in any mental aspects of the challenges yet. How about this scenario going into the next vote, assuming it is the last time to use idols? Someone besides Woo wins immunity. Tony tricks Kass into suggesting a blindside of Woo. Spencer, Kass and Trish agree. Tony tells Woo of the blindside and the two of them vote for Kass. Right before the votes are counted Tony gives Woo the regular immunity idol and uses the special one for himself. Kass is gone and Tony convinces Woo that it was Kass who suggested getting rid of Woo. Solidify their bond into the finals so that Woo won't turn on him.
  23. Kass is a lawyer and knows how to work a jury. Her Chaos Kass story could potentially sway the jury. If Trish tries to play up getting rid of Cliff as her power move to the jury, Tony will rip that apart and convincingly.
  24. I now shop at Stop and Shop in bulk whenever they offer worth while discounts on gas, Last week I bought seven 12-pack boxes of Pop Tarts for $15 (I love Pop Tarts, a perfect snack in my profession) and this allowed my to save $0.50 a gallon on gas at Shell. It's about $3.90/gallon where I live, but I can get gas for $3.29 seven miles away in New Jersey, but then there is a stupid $13 toll for the bridge.
