For any news outlet that continues to report about it, Kentucky Kingdom's public relations director and social media director have the tools to confront the situation. Although it certainly helps out when educated people bombard unsubstantiated stories with factual comments.

By it's 3rd year in operation, I fully expected Luna Park to lower their pricing and offer a ride package that includes the Scream Zone rides. But they are doing quite well with their current pricing so why cuts the prices if the demand is there. Keep in mind CAI are not making any money from parking and very little from food concessions, so 99% percent of their income is from the rides.

Divv, yes I believe 3 funicular credits may be the record for a TPR tour. Knight Valley, Ocean Park and Victoria Peak. The total China trip consisted of so many modes of transit. Bus, Train, Plane, Boat, Funicular, and whatever that wacky thing in the Shanghai underground was. That Hong Kong meal was awesome, but the factory tour was also the most painful of the trip.

That's my guess also since the owner of the park also operates Fantasy Forest in Queens and they have the Corona Cobra which came from a Jeepers. This coaster will be named the Verrazano Viper, so they appear to be keeping the snake theme, leading to the assumption there will be the snake shaped cars. Everything you hear about the remainder of the plot of land between the Thunderbolt and the stadium is pure speculation. My understanding is that when NYC sent out the RFP and leased the land to CAI it was only for the footprint of the Thunderbolt. NYCEDC today announced the release of an RFP seeking the development and operation of amusement rides, game booths or other entertainment attractions at a vacant site located along W15th Street, between the boardwalk and Surf Avenue, in Coney Island. The site, which is approximately 45 feet wide by 860 feet long, is located in the heart of Coney Island’s amusement core and sits directly between the newly expanded Scream Zone and the under construction Steeplechase Plaza. NYCEDC anticipates leasing the site for a term of 10 years, although proposals may suggest other terms. Here's a link to the original press release soliciting proposals. LINK If the becomes a waterpark it will have to be a small one (more likely a few water play structures) and I expect a vast majority of the visitors will take public transit or walk to the park. It gets oppressive hot in the area and the reason people have flocked to Coney Island for years is the beach. The beach gets packed during the dog days of summer and a tame waterpark would be a safer option for the little ones than the ocean.

why and when did they slow down the lift? I don't know exactly when but I guess they did it to reduce the speed of the ride (especially in the first drop) probably to decrease wear, maybe Ryan knows a bit more. That's what I'd guess. I'll ask one of the maintenance dudes next time I work and see what they know. I thought it was to save wear and tear on the motor, but I'll be curious what the maintenance guys tell you.
