Your 5 year plan and predictions for any park
larrygator replied to adamd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When a company (any company) has proven that they can do a better job based on the past, patrons have a right to complain. I'm not saying you don't have a right to complain, but threatening to boycott a company that's proven to provide some of the best coasters in the industry is just a tad out there. Please clarify your comment. Double negatives do not make for coherent writing. Are you saying? It is not okay to complain and not okay to boycott. or It is okay to complain but not okay to boycott. -

Schmidts is awesome. I was planning to stop there after the Columbus Zoo two weeks ago, but I spent an additional 2.5 hours walking around the zoo.

SFGAdv - 2015 - 250 foot dueling RMC woodies with a High Five element, also launch the "War on Weeds" to clear all queue line of weeds 2016 - Increase the live entertainment offerings by bringing back the Perthy P Pelican puppet show, building a Shoot the Freak arcade and use the Lakefront stadium for a diving show with line cutters rounded up to participate by diving into a live shark tank 2017 - Reduce season pass prices to $20.17, this will include parking. We'll show the competitors how to pack the park 2018 - Oh shoot they haven't built a new steel coaster in years. Play catch up by building a Launched Wing Rider, whatever 4D ride S&S is selling, an traditional full circuit 500 foot Intamin that resembles i-305, and a Intamin Mega-lite, just because they broke attendance records last year. 2019 - To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the tragic fire bring back the Haunted Mansion, also to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the "War on Lines" but add 2 dozen flat rides this time. -

But they reference the installation occurring in April 2015. If they mean opening (instead of installation) it will not happen at a Six Flags park. Especially SFGAdv, which has not opened a major ride in April in years. -

I'm very happy to see the end of this coaster. Even an empty plot of land would be an improvement. -

Never happens with that ride's capacity unless it is built as an upcharge. -
Single rider line on Indiana Jones save a lot of time. Single rider line on Splash Mountain can get a little frustrating as the ride ops in Japan need to ask the people you will be sitting with if it is OK with them. It's a cultural thing you'll just have to deal with it. That said I was denied more than one vehicle on Indy, but wait the riders on Splash Mountain are a little more cautious of strangers. So being the tenth person in Splash Mountain single rider line could be a half hour wait. Still better than the regular line.

After recent comments I heard about the park, even if the park told you it was cool, I wouldn't trust them. -
I don't think this is accurate or quantafiable There might have been a few leaks in the past, but most of the rumors originated when people saw markers. The accuracy of rumors increases with more markings, public filings being uncovered by park fanboys, and the appearance of footers and track/parts.

I dont remember saying people go to amusement parks specifically for their flat rides..? Of course what will draw people to a park in the first place is its coaster collection. You use Cedar Point as an example...I first went to ride Millenium Force. That same year, I went to Magic Mountain to ride Goliath. Which park to I go back to year after year? I don't remember saying you did, only the first line of my post is a response to you. The other paragraphs in my post are furthering the discussion of the topic.

No park in their right mind expects to make all their money back in the first year. If you look back at amusement park that were started in the 1970s most opened with a flat ride package that was larger than their original coaster count. Magic Mountain opened with 2 coasters (one a kiddie) in 1971. Great Adventure had 2 coasters open during their first season in 1974. Both Great America's, Kings Island and Dominion each had 3 coasters (one of which was a kiddie). This followed what was prevalent at the existing old time amusement parks. However, coaster technology took great leaps forward and people became hungry for these big thrills and the corporate parks catered to these tastes as it drove attendance. Biggest, fastest, tallest and steepest mean something to people and not just enthusiasts. However, whenever something new and exciting in the realm of flats/non-coasters became hot quite a few parks jumped on board. I'm old enough to remember the first river rapids ride, and how every big park had to get one soon thereafter. When drop tower became hot practically every park got one within 10 years. However, few parks would build more than one classification of drop tower, yet they would multiple classifications of steel coasters. Very few people go to an amusement park to ride flats and that's the biggest reason. When Cedar Point built MaxAir, Skyhawk and Windseeker those rides by themselves did not bring me (or others) to the park. Soon we rode them but we traveled for the coasters.
