  1. Almost to the weekend!
  2. I have had rattlesnake, alligator and sting ray but this was by far the weirdest...
  3. The first movie is the only that matters... same could be said for other classic movies like Jurassic Park.
  4. ^ One of the better tips is to reserve your next ride as soon as you enter the line. That way when you get off the ride it may be time for your next one.
  5. ^ I agree but it is nowhere as big as it once was. I remember in 5th 6th grade walking into walmart and that was the first and last thing you would see. Now you really have to look hard for anything Pokémon related whether it be 3 packs of cards or even the new games. Of course it could be a generation growing up kind of thing. But I was legit having a good time seeing so much of it everywhere in Japan. Agreed! I thought it was going to be the same as the other thousand plus we seen on the trip I was not expecting it at all! Had we skipped it and found out later that would of been a huge bummer. I am trying really hard to find a pov!
  6. After a fun night we woke up early of course with a hangover at least this time there were no trains or taxis, just a bus. After a little nap we arrived at Rusutsu Resort. To get to the park you have to go through a luxury hotel which had many attractions in it self. We arrive early so we had some free time to explore a little bit. They have a very nice carousel and many shops and eateries. Also the had desperado! (which we will get to later on) After about 20 minutes we were taken into the park to start our ERT. Ultra Twister After a very long and steep walk we finally made it to the ride. After doing the Ultra Twister I thought these rides were fun but this one blew me away. Why? The dive loop! This one also had a turn table right before the lift. This was a great way to wake up and even better was we had an hour of it to ourselves! Here is Robb's video of us check it out! Loop the Loop The park also had a really weird looking Shuttle Loop made by Meisho. Instead of a launch you are slowly pulled up the spike in front of the car before being released backwards. It was fun though. Hurricane Next up was your typical SLC. Even in Japan it wasn't good. Space Shot S&S launch tower. "Ride it... Feel the American Power!" That is all... Corkscrew Next up was the park's arrow coaster. The ride operator insisted us "be happy" before we dispatched. Flying Cages The really cool thing about this park is that they had a flying cages! These were all over the US way back when but none exist today so I was really surprised to find one here! We had to it of course! Sadly I couldn't get it over the top but 2 in our group did. They are a lot of work but a lot of fun. Mad Mouse We had to get our credit whore on so this was our next stop! This was a family coaster by Saeki. Go Go Sneaker Next up was our second of 3 Togos the park has. This was a wild mouse, the worst part was the sudden brakes at the end so you had to brace yourself. Mountain Coaster This was the loudest coaster I have ever been around. When this coaster made a cycle you knew it no matter where you were in the park. It was rough and I didn't care for it. Skid Racing The park also had drifting go karts included with admission so we had to do it! There were a couple crashes and wipe outs but it was a lot of fun! Standing Coaster Know what's better than riding a Togo stand up? Seeing all the random loose parts of your car just laying on the floor as you go up the lift. Murder Lodge Some of us did the upcharge haunt attraction thing (I can't remember what they are called right now) it wasn't bad but not as good as the one we did the next day at Joypolis. Big Wheel Next we went up the hill and did the giant wheel before hoping on the train and heading to see some horses before going back into the hotel. I grabbed some lunch while we waited for Desperados to open. Desperados Being that everyone said "You have to do this" I knew I had to. We ended up filling the room with our group so it was more fun that way. It was a shooting simulator and being in Japanese it was awesome. Cable Car Next we grabbed the cable car to the top of the mountain where we were greeted with a spectacular view of Mount Yotei! Oh and also of the park... we hung out for awhile and just relaxed and even watched a hang glider take off before heading back down to the park. House of Horrors This was my second favorite haunt I did in Japan (First is Haunted Hospital at Fuji Q) this was detailed and very gruesome. It also had a creepy doll theme. It was awesome! After this we went back to the hotel and hung out till it was time to meet up again to head out. Honestly I really liked this park! One of my favorites of the trip! After we got to the hotel some of us went out to check out the giant arcade by the train station and grabbed a bite before going to bed since we had to be up early to catch our flight back to Tokyo. Next up Sega Joypolis plus giant robots and tons of randomness! Looks like we are in the right place! Got some time till our ERT? OK! Lets take a quick look around. A very nice carousel near the hotel lobby This came to life when you pressed a button and gave a show Heading into the park We have reached our destination! Matt and Bills faces say it all! Next car coming in! Matt and Cary up front Going down! Loop the Loop is up next! Looks really weird It is sketchy but it is fun Even Japan cannot make an SLC good. Ride it feel it... They also had a top spin I really like the way they run it Corkscrew is up next! Hi guys! Another view of Loop the Loop What?!? Flying Cages! These were a lot of fun but were also a work out Some others from the group on the ride later in the day. Hi guys! Nozzy on Go Go Sneaker Brace yourself! Good luck Dan! Here goes Sean John trying to figure out what is about to happen to him? Cute little maintenance track Log Flume Skid Racing! There they go! It got pretty intense Ryan making the standard pose Wipeout! We had to say a prayer and confess our sins before this one Upcharge but it was interesting and a nice warm up for the one the next day A safari or a hunt? Safari Hunt? Ryan gets pretty serious when it comes to shooting cute innocent animals Mountain Coaster is next Spot the TPR members The people in Tokyo hear this ride right now Heading up the hill The park had this really nice moving walkway to get to the top. Why can't other parks do this? Look back at the lower park Closed of course! Time to take the train Incase you haven't figured it out yet the park is a Ski Resort in the winter. Time to head up the mountain! A look back at the park Getting pretty high up Way up there... Next up was the Horror House.... Seriously very twisted Almost as creepy as the Horror House is these Ninja Turtle knock offs! As we leave Rusutsu Resort remember... be happy! You immediately see this upon exiting the cable car A look back at the resort Lets go check out this arcade we keep hearing about! It is a really nice arcade! We checked out the Pokémon Center to relive some of our childhood They had some other weird games including this air hockey table where about 20 pucks would randomly fall onto the table We passed by this on the way up! Sean won some snacks! Yup we are here! How about a huge bucket of candy or Ramen??? Tempting.... but we had to be up early for our flight back to Tokyo in the morning so it was McDonalds than bed for me. I had a great time in Sapporo and really hope to return some day! Joypolis up next with Giant Robots, and more up next! What's going on here? Pokémon is still HUGE in Japan! This must be it! Want to win some chips? How about some pringles?
  7. I thought it was really good but I only went through with the HHN overlay. I would say it's one of the best year round haunts in a US Theme Park, but really there isn't much competition.
  8. ^ I have seen the water park insanely busy quite a bit and it helps round out the resort. I highly doubt Soak City is going away any time soon. They did add Dragster H2O a few years ago. But agree, I wish they would focus some more onto the water park.
  9. I really miss this ride! That first ride though was kind of worrying.
  10. 2 hours on the bumper cars sound like one of my visits to SFOG. Nice report! I like seeing these tiny parks we never hear of.
  11. This guy is one of my favorite Disney things ever! Great report! HKDL is a great park!
  12. ^ No just a random car that was already on its side.
  13. ^ I assume that was where the preform maintenance. But it was weird since it was in the middle of the ride next to the track.
  14. I didn't think to take any since it was down all day but here is a video of it I found on YouTube.
  15. ^ Complete with a very nice bow! The haunted house also had those horrifying wobbly orange gates. Oh god, The Orange Gates Wasn't this the walk-through with the explosive beheading? I forgot about that! I missed seeing it though. Didn't we keep trying to get it to trigger again? I think it was Elissa who brought up an interesting point regarding the mirror mazes, which was that this park has attractions run by independent operators, who each get a bigger cut of the profit if they get more guests (ie. scans of the wristband). So the mirror maze operators would try to get us to go through multiple times (thankfully, I didn't get lost the second time). It's the same reason that the Ultratwister "Megaton" at Southern Mitsui Greenland famously encourages people to ride multiple times. Makes sense. They were really good at it though! Which, like a lot of other Japanese haunted attractions, had us wearing headphones (I think the story was that we were getting our hair brushed?). That was a really good one. I keep getting these small mad houses confused with each other. We did so many! It's a clever "Danger: High Voltage" sign with Raijin, the Japanese God of Lighting & Thunder. "Don't go past this fence, or you're gonna die!" Ah! I see it now!
  16. Funny, I just learned about the direct connection from the airport the other day while watching "Mall Cops" I will have to make a stop here on my next layover! Great report!
  17. Fair warning, not very many rides were open today due to the cold. The park just posted they are closed tomorrow. Sorry man.
  18. The next morning we woke up early and grabbed breakfast before heading to the train station with the group to head to our first park on the northern island Hokkaido Greenland! After a train ride and another Taxi race we finally made it to the park. Now this park isn't super big and we ended up not spending a lot of time here (But it freed us up for some time in Sapporo!) but it was a somewhat nice park, some areas were run down. But the park had some super friendly staff. Wani Wani Coaster Our first stop was the kiddie coaster, nothing special about it. Dragon King Next was the park's inversion coaster by Senyo. It has a loop and two corkscrews and some head banging. GO-ON This is the park's "big" coaster. The ride ops on this were super friendly and waved us up the exit so we didn't have to walk all the way around through the queue. The ride it self looks neat from the distance but is nothing special. Fun though. Go Karts The park had a go kart track under GO-ON so we took a spin (some literally). Wasn't super fast and you can't pass but it was fun. Haunted House Next we did the park's ride through haunted house. The scariest thing was the car flipped over half way through. They also had a walk through. Mirror Mazes The park had two mirror mazes so we did these to. The staff on both were fun and was challenging us to race through it. The park also has crazy house which we did too. Torokko Coaster This was the park's conveyor belt coaster. At the same time Robb and some more of the group were approaching the ride and so we packed 12 adults on the ride to see if the belts would hold us! The park also had a second go kart track around a lake which we did before grabbing lunch in the park's only restaurant. Giant Wheel Next we did the giant wheel before heading to meet the group to head back to the city. As we were leaving we grabbed a group photo and made our way to our taxis. I enjoyed my visit to the park and it exceeded my expectations. After we got back to the hotel a group of us made our way around the city with our first stop the Botanic Gardens just around the corner it was kind of nice. Next we made our way to a park going through the city where we passed protests, plant auctions, many vendors, concrete slides, blue beer, and ELVIS! Also passed the Sapporo clock tower. But we had a more important destination in mind! Sapporo Bier Garten We had 100 minutes off all we could drink beer and all we can eat mutton, but it was all about the Genghis sauce! The meal was delicious and the beer was good but than we made our way back to the hotel but first we stopped for more beer. It was a great day but we had another early morning ahead of us! Next up Rusutsu Resort! Welcome to Hokkaido Greenland! The park had a very nice entrance even with a little show! Once inside we were attacked by TOGO animals! Dragon King. The park really liked their green paths. It wasn't that bad. Next up was GO-ON I'm not sure if this was decoration or if they just forgot this here. The station Once again more colored paths Next up was the Go Karts TPDave doing his thing One of the park's "Midways" The main "Midway"? The walk-through. Nothing really stood out. The dark ride. Watch out for the random flipped over car half way through. I think they forgot it too. One of the other "midways" Torokko Coaster The cars Here you can see the conveyor belt lift. The brakes are also a conveyor belt Bench the Ride? The other Go Karts was next! The loading area. Matt heading out. I'm pretty sure the sign says "Pretty please do not hit our cute smiling turtles. It will bring great sadness" The lake Nozzy coming back in It is a fun little ride though. It even intertwines with the log flume The park had cars from the ferris wheel placed randomly through out the park. The park also had some peddle boats. There were several funny stories about these from some of the other people on the tour. Not sure what this sign is or why I took a photo of it but it is funny. Next we ate at the park's only restaurant. I'm pretty sure the name really is just HAPPY Next we took the ferris wheel! An overview of the main entrance Torokko Coaster in the distance Wani Wani Coaster Dragon King They also have one of these GO-ON You can see that the go karts were at one time alot longer. Around the tree Notice the tires for the brakes Thanks for a nice visit Hokkaido Greenland! This is our next stop. We looked at flowers and stuff. Pretty Eh? Very Canadian. Just needs more beavers and hockey! On the way to the park we passed these protests. There were 3 of em! Nice smoking building Moving towards the clock tower Japanese Elvis! Japanese cowboys.... what we seen next may have scared several of us for life. The park was VERY active Who wants to ride in this? We passed this auction of various plants. See clock looks nice John is ready to go! Jason modeling his bib. Sitting down wind of the grill we defiantly needed these. After having nearly 2 hours of beer where do we go? For more beer! 100 minutes? Plenty of time! The Sapporo beer museum! Pretty Shall we confess our sins now? Made it! Who would of guessed we are visiting an amusement park on the next update?
