  1. Thanks for the report! Patriot sure looks great in the blue and I'm glad the uncomfortable parts were solved by the floorless trains. Rougarou was a really enjoyable coaster when I rode it and that's something most people didn't say about Mantis.
  2. Don't forget the random B&M family invert they built in China.
  3. If it becomes as common as boomerangs, I won't mind. Though I was honestly thinking of a custom one like Kennywood's Sky Rocket, not the Sky Rocket II clone. Kennywood's Sky Rocket is shorter and would probably be easier to work with considering the height restriction. Sky Rocket II's are 150 ft tall. I know the drop tower and Ferris wheel are somewhere in the 120-140 ft range, but not sure how much higher they could go up there. I was still amazed how close planes were flying overhead during my rides on Storm Chaser.
  4. Having the two car operation is probably better than the single rider line. When it was down to one car, the switchbacks were filling up so it makes sense they had the single rider line open in that case.
  5. I know cold temps and wind (more the second) can cause coasters to valley, but I'm still amazed El Toro can valley considering how much that thing hauls when I've ridden it. When it valleys, is it typically on those two small humps returning to the brake run?
  6. Impulse has a single rider line if that impacts your decision. I was able to get on within 10-15 minutes using that. Did they ever start running more than one train on Impulse by the end of the season? During my only visit they only had one going and I saw on the forum that seemed to happen for others as well.
  7. SeaWorld San Diego's Manta and most of the coasters at Alton Towers show that you can still build great rides with height restrictions, and those parks have tougher height restrictions than Kentucky Kingdom. What I think the park needs is a coaster that focuses on inversions. I'd love to see a B&M looper, but not sure if that's in the budget. Otherwise something from Premier Rides like Sky Rocket or a Gerstlauer infinity coaster would be nice fits.
  8. This is amazing news! While it's a bummer the park's two top coasters won't be open, I really can't complain about having adult coasters available to ride in New England in November and December. I hope the event is a success and can maybe expand to include one of the big coasters down the road. If you dress like you're going skiing it's perfectly comfortable even in 20 degrees. Heck I went skiing a few weeks ago when it was below zero and put on so many layers on I was overheating. I don't know what you are talking about with the cheating accusations There's nothing wrong with watching some homemade movies and giving that air back to the community. New Englanders will defend Tom Brady and Belichick like we defend Canobie Lake Park.
  9. These Interpark coasters give some surprising air on the first two drops. The Big E has had one of them there the past few years and I thought I saw a mirage when I saw a roller coaster in the distance driving home yesterday. Nope it was one of these Super Cyclone coasters at the Revere Carnival!
  10. ... ahem, I believe you forgot something over in Old Virginia. I give it a C+ at best. Corrected for accuracy. ^^ Post of the year . I know a legendary roast when I see one. Haha that really does capture most of what's important at the park. Though I would add the very snappable flyers and Grizzly as two rides that deserve to be listed.
  11. The last time I rode it, the first drop was quite good, but the bunny hills in the middle were rough. It'll still only be a once a visit ride for me because of how good Boulder Dash is.
  12. Considering your hatred of La Ronde, that is impressive.
  13. The ride did look creepy with the Joker head but it'll be a shame to see it gone since it was so different... well at least I hope the park would remove the Joker if they renamed it Kryptonite.
  14. It'll be interesting to see what comes of Lakemont, but there are really only 3 rides I care about: the 2 wooden coasters and the Chance skydiver. Skyliner was pretty rough when I rode it but there were some nice spots of air. During my one visit I wasn't overly impressed with the place. It's one thing to keep old rides like Knoebels, but it's another to not add anything new. I went in thinking the $6-7 wristband was a steal. By the end of the day, it no longer felt like a steal.
  15. I'll hold off judgment until I see it in person in 2.5 weeks, but the rail color is really eye-catching having seen the GAdv version.
  16. I agree on the few rough spots on El Toro. 90% of the ride was glass smooth but there were one or two valleys that had the odd roughness you're describing. I never noticed that in my previous visits.
  17. Titan looks pretty similar to SFMM's Goliath so that's disappointing to hear. While the first drop isn't as epic as it looks on Goliath, it still gives some air and does last a while. It's the second half of that ride that I have an issue with.
  18. While I prefer physical props for shooters, the one positive about the video is that all of the "targets" worked. A few of the ones I rode this past year (Lake Compounce's, Kings Island's, Carowinds) had a lot of targets that weren't responding.
  19. Please don't give them any ideas to put it on Wicked Cyclone or back on Superman. I personally think Mind Eraser will be tolerable with the new trains but I still wouldn't ride it much and the VR confirms that.
  20. Poor Michigan's Adventure. At least it would be unique for the area, but terrible for enthusiasts. I think it's safe to say Kings Island and Dorney won't get this Boomerang since they already have the inverted ones; then again that didn't stop SFNE.
  21. I'm in the same boat. The other coasters are solid but Colossos was the main reason drawing me there. Looks like I'll make a pit stop in Sweden instead for another Intamin woodie. Hopefully Heide can restore Colossos so it runs as well as I've heard in the past.
  22. In its second to last season, Roar West was running really well for my rides with the Millennium Flyers. I'd love to see them make their way here. The PTC trains were never meant to handle a GCI layout.
  23. The drop that actually stands out most to me is on Dorney's shoot the shoot. Despite being taller than most models, the skids felt like they were really holding the boat back. I've only been on the Darien one, but I thought it had a really good first drop. Strong airtime and very steep. Concur with the bolded, and I think it sums up Eurofighters in general. The ones that do not have the hold brake pack some real punch in my opinion. I find Dare Devil Dive to be probably the most enjoyable Eurofighter because it is smooth, lap bars only, and just a fun ride. If that drop wasn't held back it would have great airtime instead of just an ok mix of hang time and slight airtime. On the flipside, even though it has a holding brake, I find Mystery Mine's 95* drop to be the highlight of the ride (besides the theming). I'm not sure how the shaping of the top of the hill and the drop compare to each other, but Mystery Mine does have a great drop and it feels like the entire holding brake is before the majority of the drop, whereas on DDD it feels like the holding brake hangs onto the train much further. Maybe it is just an illusion because Mystery Mine's brake actually stops you and DDD's brake never fully stops the train. No idea, but I agree it doesn't harm the drop on Mystery Mine nearly as much. There isn't an image of how far down the drop the Mystery Mine one holds the train, but from how it felt riding, the brake stops before the train reaches the vertical portion of the drop. On Dare Devil Dive, I felt the brake holding the train until it was vertical which took away that huge jolt of airtime the other EuroFighters or beyond vertical drops have provided.
