  1. ^That's usually how most brake calipers work, even friction. It just sounds confusing to us because it's not something we're accustomed to.
  2. I will admit the current location is akward, and with the FV stage being used for a Haunt maze evey year and that area being congested as is during Halloween. With a new thrill ride in the area, I can't help but think it's going to be a mad house.
  3. Yea...Sound like they should've just used friction brakes
  4. ^I figured as much. No one takes online petitions seriously.
  5. ^^I say push it as far as it goes to see how long someone will notice...
  6. ^They'll probably just put a headlight facade on them or so...
  7. ^And since they've seemed to renew their ties with Intamin, Maybe they'd build a giga coaster at some point....
  8. ^And a fully loaded train will have less trimming than a fully loaded gravy train
  9. I don't see any bolts or nails holding that sign up, so I hope that scotch tape holds up in the high winds they get
  10. ^It's an easier to say something needs to be done than actually getting it done. When you're in the position that losing your job isn't motivation to work, then what do you do?
  11. JJMan, I don't think I missed your point. I see where you are coming from... But the point I'm trying to make is that even back in 2001, when Disney's Premium pass was $200, can you honestly say that Magaic Mountain was worth anywhere near that? And the pass example may have needed more explaining. $184 dollars for a So. Cal Select pass. With Magic Mountain's operating schedule, it's about the same timeframe, though the specific days may play a big role. You may have pulled my card on that one. However I just honestly don't see how raising prices is going to fix the problems the park has. Even Cedar Point's pass is $100. (For the record, I think Cedar Fair has it's own share of issues, so don't think I'm using CF as a golden mean) Point is, Raising prices isn't going to fix All the problems they have, have had, and will have. It's going to take a huge investment in infrastructure and internal overhaul before the average person will say, "sure, I'll buy a $150 Six Flags pass".
  12. ^^In all fairness, like Robb said, it cold just be a fluke. Let's hope it's not this way going into spring break
  13. None of the mentioned rides are ran by a Six Flags park.
  14. With not one single park in the Southern California market charging this much for a pass (An entry-level Disney passport is less than that), I wish them the best of luck moving units at that price. I don't think it's the gate price that the park needs to adjust to make improvements. Trying to improve the overall quality of the park and sustain it over the course of more than just one leadership change is imperative. I think that has to happen before any type of dramatic price change can happen.
  15. ^Not trying to criticize you in any way, trust me. But I don't think the park's problem is "their coaster's aren't cute & cuddley enough" I think their problems run much deeper than just ride appeal and raising ticket prices. From an entry-level perception, I don't think what the park as a whole offers anything to justify raised admission, and the expectation for 30,000 people daily. Even with prices the way they are now it gets crowded sometimes. Inefficient operations, poor food quality, lackluster in-park communication, and an apparent lack of commitment by both management and field employees to the best bang for your buck play bigger factors than just "no one talks about our rides enough. Save Xcelerator, EVERY SINGLE COASTER at Magic Mountain, EVERY SINGLE ONE, runs circles around Knott's lineup. But it takes more than just building the product. You have to market the whole package. If my memory serves me correctly, the park owns the land east of Feedmill road a good ways. (about 50-75 ft) Based on the money you mentioned would be needed to remove things/land clearing out of the park, they could push the lot back and even build a structure. I figure they'd be in for the same amount of cash either way.
  16. You could build a nice hyper with a bejesus of airtime under 220ft.....Just putting that idea out there.
  17. ^Very True. JR Anderson may not have the experience in the amusement industry that Weber has, which means I'm sure his advice is often sought after in board meetings.
  18. ^But that's why it's the Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
  19. ^I'm quite sure it applies for both. My guess is that this is for the structure of these rides and not necessarily for the coaster operation of it. I'd imagine its just patching up boards and loose nails. It's still a stepping stone to alot more responsibilities, though.
  20. ^See? B&M does break records...Take that Sandor!
  21. ^I think it would. The only reason I don't rank Flight Deck over Batman is because it's too short... Shorter than even a Batman clone.
  22. ^You'd think that, but I don't think Shamu eats the little goldfish flakes. I'm sure that hefer eats them out of house and home.
