  1. Meh, I don't think this park's getting a coaster...EVERY OTHER ex-Paramount park has gotten at least one new coaster out of Cedar Fair.Kings Dominion and Carowinds got two, count 'em two coasters apiece since Cedar Fair bought them... and poor little Great America. an Ice Show...and "All Wheels Extreme".
  2. ^Batman has FOUR blocks, (1.Station 2.Lift 3.Main Brake 4.Transfer) just like the Batman I used to work at Magic Mountain, and just like every other 2 train invert. And even with a fast crew, yes there's bound to be some stacking on a ride thats only 2700' long...but that should not be an excuse not to try.
  3. ^^Thank you. Most people use emoticons whn they're being sarcastic. I like to use elipses.
  4. Whatever plot of land you move it to, dig a hole. Problem solved.
  5. Yea, but the old one only had three in the front so the trade-off isnt that bad...if these things [new trains] do indeed enhance the ride experience.
  6. @Yoshi: There are some rides that can get away with only two ops due to it's nature. Nitro I'm sure can hit 1200pph with only two ops, and sparring you don't have too many fatties, El Toro can hit some high numbers in its own right. However, rides with alot of seats and/or seat belts should get a little more attention (Kingda Ka, Batman, Bizarro,Superman, Green Lantern...and though previously mentioned, El Toro) @Pablo: It's not something exclusive to this park or Six Flags. New rides get a whole bunch of attention until the buzz fades away. Xcelerator at Knott's used to have 6 operators...a 20 passenger train. At one point an operator was in charge of only checking like three seats. Not three rows...three seats. I haven't seen California Screamin' run 6 trains in about a year (and yes, I'm only counting peak seasons) Heck who even knows when the last the last tim X2 ran three trains...despite that sole factor being a main reason for the revamp (to up capacity) @DJ Exel: That girl is the pennicle of what a ride op needs to be. If you can check a 32 seat B&M by your self and still not stack with two trains, then no one else anywhere should have an excuse. She was taking loose artices, checking heights and cleared the whole train in under 1:30....In Texas' 110 degree heat. I hope that girl is an OM by now
  7. ^^^I think you mave have missed my point. Sky scrapers in Califrnia have to be built to different specifications than one in say, Cleveland because of the needed resistance to earthquakes. Why I used this as an example is because Los Angeles was able to build a tower over 1,000 feet tall, but not until there was a method in which to build a structure of that size. Main point, if Magic Mountain wanted to build a 300' coaster, they would. If Disneyworld can survive huricanes, I think a giga could take a rattle.
  8. I'm real anxious to see how efficient Green Lantern is going to run three trains. So far the best I've ever seen it done was Riddler's Revenge circa 2007, and that was no easy task to have a train dispatching at the moment the previous train cleared Block brake. And even that was just in spurts...God bless those internationals from Thailand!
  9. ^I get what you're saying, and I can only think of two things.... 1) Last year was closer to the scheduled opening date, and perhaps the staff for the upcoming season were ready to go befor hand 2) The park anticipates the crowds will not be interested in going to the park, which in turn compliments the company's recent cost cutting measures.
  10. ^^^You are right about California needing to build structures with higher guidelines than other places (which is one main reason Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco have fewer sky scrapers than most metro areas), but I'm sure sound planning can more than accomodate any large structre; especially since the park has two structures over 300 feet now (Sky Tower, 380 feet Superman, 415 feet
  11. Also, how did Six Flags annouce hey were pulling out of Kentucky Kingdom? "Lets hold a job fair........and then close! It's brilliant!"
  12. Or a giga coaster....Magnum didn't stop Cedar Point from building one. Why should Goliath stop Magic Mountain?

  14. ^Yea but all that's been said so far is "Well, we're definately gonna take this out. We're gonna try to replace it with something...but we don't know. We're not psychics. But Invertigo? that sh*t's gone.''
  15. No it was confirmed that Medusa was tested backwards, but the idea was scrapped due to discomfort.
  16. ^And...Knott's could get a stand-up for 2013...
  17. Well, you can't have enough Dippin' Dots stands, can you?
  18. Sir Duke-Stevie Wonder
  19. Not necessarily. I remember during X's transformation, they continued to test the old trains, even after the paintjob. It is very possible that not only they make sure the new trains work, but they operate as seemlessly and as identical as the old ones. The best way to do that is to test them side-by-side.
  20. I think Disneyland's next Eticket is going to oen before Flying Turns Do you watch cartoons?
  21. YES! Just kidding. No. Have you ever worked at an amusement park?
  22. I don't know how to take this lingering merger talk. If it were to happen I don't know if it'll make Six Flags better or Cedar Fair worse. I've been to a number of both parks and enjoy CF parks a litlle more, save for trashcans and seatbelts.
  23. ^I think it's just because it's a popular ride in the front of the park. I think that's why GhostRider at Knotts gets such bad lines and can still be cycling up to 45 minutes after the park closes on busier days while Xcelerator and Silver Bullet can be done 10 minutes after closing. People on their way out say to themselves "look! This one's still open!, let's get our last ride on this!"
