  1. I'm really looking forward to riding this. I rode the original TG and it left such a horrible impression, I want to see if this overhaul can reedeem itself. Its looking great so far.
  2. I find it odd that the decision to close the park could be made withing that short period of time. Most parks I've come across either know they will open or stay closed hours before scheduled opening. Then again, I don't know the exact time the park decided to throw in the towel on the operating day. It just helps having a final decision well in advance so you can tell people not to show up for work instead of not opening and still having to pay them report pay.
  3. ^Magic Mountain used to do that, but for some reason they stopped.
  4. ^I can't imagine that would take very long. Fabricating a new sign and removing the branded scenery can't take any more than a week, week and a half tops.
  5. Well It's already on foursquare. So far that's the only concrete thing I've seen.
  6. The rain today would've been totally awesome....had I not had to go to work in it...
  7. ^Hey, you got my vote! If someone has a problem with waiting, TEACH THEM TO WAIT!
  8. ^^The crafts fair is open unitl Christmas Eve, so I'd say yes. Rain or shine they'll keep it open. Even if none of the coasters will run.
  9. Here are some of my favorite pics traveling this year. My Favorite overall. I think my friend Robert (lower right corner) was choking on something Us Laker fans also rode The Bull And finally in three separate visits to the park, I finall got my Kingda Ka credit I was a big fan of this ride. Me at the White House Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. We have no idea who this girl was, but she was a great sport for taking a picture with us Walking through Alcatraz untitled.bmp On the Powell & Mason streetcar to Pier 39
  10. ^Then I envy you. I rode it this past summer with the trims. I can only say it was so-so. It was still better than the one at Carowinds.
  11. I plan on eating a pound of spaghetti-O's for breakfast.
  12. My close friends all know the weird hobbies I have. It's actually pretty funny sometimes when they tell me things that go on in the amusement industry that I'm already aware of. (I have a friend that just told me two weeks ago "Hey Eric, I just found out their reversing Superman! Did you hear about that?) I can't blame them though, as most of my friends do so in trying to share my hobby. However I have the advantage of having friends who are also coaster enthusiasts and some who like them, but can't tell the difference between Batman and Silver Bullet.
  13. ^I would say no, because the key thing is that your examples are things that happen over time. You can choose not to drink or do so in moderation far before the affects of alcoholism set in. If you have compulsive sex because of emotional issues, that doesn't stop you from using a love glove. And depression can be combated with medication and therapy.
  14. ^QFT. Going into, most parks tell you that the nature of the business is "We work when others paly". So it's no surprise to the employess when they have to work holidays. But I'm still sure they're pretty stoked they got it off.
  15. During light rain Xcelerator:Closed Boomerang:Closed Silver Bullet:Closed GhostRider:Closed Montezooma's Revenge:Closed Jaguar!:Closed Pony Express:Drops to 1 train Sierra Sidewinder:Drops to 1 train All other rides remain open, unless lightning is sighted withing 5 miles of the park, in which all rides halt operation. If rain is in the forecast for X operating day before 7am M-F, the park will remain closed.
  16. ^Disneyland also has a union. Not sure if it was established when you were there, but I'm sure the union negociated that. SFMM does not pay holiday pay.
  17. I do know the pricing for Thomas toys. (my nephew loves it) That's literally the cheapest you will find anything Thomas related. Evan at Walmart just a tank engine can run 8 or 9 bucks. If anyone here is doing any holiday shopping for smaller kids, I'd urge you to take advantage.
  18. I can't make it (Another Day)-Michael Jackson
  19. I will admit, the tower looks pretty good. The park is doing a fantastic job at rennovating their existing rides. I can only hope that reversing the trains will have a nice public reception
  20. It'd be cool if Green Lantern and Windseeker were in full swing by the time WCB gets here. That way you'd get an up close look at two rides under construction.
  21. Nowadays, the park isn't much worse than any other park in the area. If it's safety you're worried about don't worry. It's safe.
  22. I think Knott's has the right idea, but is using the wrong vehicle in which to present it. $40 for one ride on each of the majors is going to come off as expensive to anybody. Most people who read into it would most likely see it as "and I only get ONE ride on each?" I'm not knocking the system. I would just hate to see it fail (as it is in a testing phase) only because people didn't initially think it was worth it. And for the record it may not be listed but it is valid for Xcelerator. I'm going to assume it's not listed because of the (still) one train operation and it does tend to get some of the longest lines even during two train ops.
  23. ^Yea, It'd be nice if that were the one thing Cedar Fair took out of the SF play book. Most rollercoastrs can still safely run in the rain.
