Every Premier coaster I have ever been on has went down while I was on it. I've only been on three, but I see it as either me just being that unlucky, or the rides just come with gaurenteed down time. -
^If you think you can skip on Tatsu by riding Manta, I don't think it will be an appropriate substitute. Tatsu was designed to be a high thrill ride, wheras Manta will probably be milder and more family style. To be honest I don't think that Ultimate Flight is an adequate substitute. It looks fun, but Tatsu is a lot faster, with a more extensive layout. Of course I speak with bias, but that's my ride.

There is a policy that all Cedar Fair roller Coasters have seatbelts. Though this ride may not have them, I promise that within 5 seasons it will. Adding seatbelts do not necessarily add to safety, but they do add to dispatch intervals. That is my point. -
In all confidence, I say the Lakers will edge New Orleans in conference finals in six. I just see the Lakers with more experience and more leadership than the younger New Orleans. Kobe is just one of the people that everyone loves to hate, and in most (if not all) cases people let their opinions of him as a person effect the way they view him. Love him, hate him, or pretend the the guy doesn't exsist he can flat out ball. I don't think their is anyone in the game today that does it better than he does. Chris Paul is good. Damn good. So is Steve Nash,Tracy McGrady, Gilbert Arenas, and etc. This team is young and they have to make a dent in these playoffs to show they can actually do it. Six wins in the playoffs is a long way from 16.

^ He probably sent the bill to his room a few minutes before. The spice channel is a tad bit more pricey from a $300/night room. -

Cedar Fair puts seatbelts on everything. B&M's, Intamins, Arrow loopers, Vekoma boomerangs Parking lot trams, park benches, Johnny Rockets booths. Everything. -
I seriosly doubt the Celts now. Now that I was routing for them before, but playing a 7 game first round series can, does- and will take an effect on how you play the next series. Gloating intended, my favored team has yet to lose this post season. I like their chances getting to the finals. I also want to credit the Orlando Magic. They are a SEVERELY underrated team that I think can pull off two upsets en route to their first finals appearance without the help of a big, backboard braking you-know-who. I don't see the Celtics beating the Pistons or the Magic. The Celts even beating Cleveland is iffy. ( I see it going either way.)

I'm sure they CF just hasn't had the chance to get around to it yet. Silver bullet at Knott's closes in the rain. Why you say? Park maintainece says that the trains hydroplane and causes damage to the wheels. I know for a fact B&M's are designed to run in rain, because they're all desingned with a "RAIN MODE". They will also have a ball tring to put seatbelts on this thing. -

This is a gret PTR! Me and some friends are taking the exact same trip, minus Kemah boardwalk (We looked into it, but we're starting from East to West). It sure is cool to see these parks from the inside before I go. -

I haven't decided to go back to Knott's (Xcelerator/Supreme Scream) or MM (Obvious from the pictue) -
Mark Shapiro said himself that the days of buy $20 million rollercoasters were over. Almighty Fire makes a strong case that I totally agree with. Six Flags can't get the families that Disney can. Cedar Fair can't get the families that Disney can. Anheiser Busch Can't get the families that Disney can. Disney has the family experience on lock. No one is going to steal that market away from them. Now everyone bad mouths Six flags because they say that families are where the money is-and teens don't have money...newsflash, neither do kids. I think Six Flags would do just fine by expanding their ride counts and cleaning up their operation. If Six Flags had two parks that could compete with Cedar Point (SFMM & SFGAD) in both thrill rides, family rides, and shows, then I bet Six Flags could turn their image around. Adding a coaster every year, maybe not the best idea, but adding family rides with no themeing and horrible capacity isn't exactly cooling the fire either. As for the cloning. Park chains buy multiple rides from the same manufacturer due to some type of discount, which is great, but be original. There is not a single Six Flags park that has a custom B&M Invert, they're all Batman clones. The only reason Tatsu ended up with a custom layout is because of A:the terrain, and B: the record. Otherwise, IT TOO would have been a Superman Flyer Clone. I'm sure that once Six Flags realizes that it won't make money chasing the family market either, we will see them slip back into their old ways.

Now see, I hate to hear things like this when so much praise is going to SFMM cleaning up their act, but the truth is the truth. Six Flags has a moniker of being "THE PLACE" for thrills. I don't think that the company as a whole can ever escape that. I mean adding family oriented rides here and there isn't enough to make up for 15 years of neglecting you r park. I applaude the effort, and the company is moving in the right direction, but I see this as a trial and error period. Those Tony Hawk rides aren't going to offset the balance of Six Flags being teen and college kid parks. Simply adding milder coasters and rides will just result in those teens just riding weaker rides. Was adding a Tony Hawk coaster a good idea? I say it was a neutral one. I say if you want to attract families, animal or stage shows are the best way to do that. SFG ADV does fine because they have shows. There is more to do than just let your kids stand in line for El Toro while you sit on a bench. However it does not seem like this is a common goal for all chain parks. But oh well. I always say, I'm not the one who gets the final say, so what I think doesn't matter, it's just nice to say it anyway.

I can totally agree wit this, because theme parks are more than just rides, whether big or flat. Parks are also built around ambience, scenary, and memories. As we all know the majority of time spent in parks go between waiting in lines and walking to/from rides. That gives guests visiting a chance to enjoy the little things you lace your park with, or complain if it's not. That is why I tip my hat to MM for bringing some of that to the park.

Suicide at Disneyland Hotel
Bolliger&Mabillard replied to Drop-Out's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Tragic news. Even if you don't know someone personally, the concept of death still hits close to home. My heart goes out to his family, and anyone who witnessed it. I've seen people die, both by car accidents, and I know first hand it is very disturbing to see someone die. -
So I hear if you are 6'1'' or taller this ride will not be very friendly to you. Testing is progressing nicely, and I expect this ride to be ready for its media day, a few days before the 24th, but I don't know the exact day . I hear that this ride will have some strong force going through the second turnaround. The airtime hill looks really cool from the testing videos. If you expect a family oriented coaster, I thnk Pony Express will turn lots of heads, If you expect it to fit in with Xcelerator and Silver Bullet than it will fall short of hollow expectations.

There are some rides that Flash Pass work great on, other rides, not so much. But slow dispatch intervals aren't something you can just blame on the ride ops, at least not entirely. People hate waiting in line so they buy flas passes, and the idea sounds nice, but that leads to it's share of problems. How Tatsu used to be is they would hold off the last two rows of the train, but that led to complaints coming from people in stand-by because they were only being loaded in the first six. Riddler's flash pass is a nightmare because it only works if the line is longer than the outside queue, and even then the entrance point is problematic unless there is a grouper. These are things you can't blame on ride ops, the park, or the guest for that matter. It's just one of those things that come with the territory. My concern is that with all these automatics that come with the job, the ride ops don't make it easier on themselves when guests can see them on their cell phone while at panel or horseplaying with each other, because then that's when ALL of the blame gets put on them, and that's where you get complaints.

I am so convinced the 2009 coaster is a GCI. It just seems logical for the park to go wood in 2009. They remove a woodie, they put one back in. Every other marjor park in the Six Flags chain has at LEAST two wooden coasters, and Six Flags St. Louis bought a GCI and park chains always buy rides in bulk. In addition to that, GCI's are family oriented, and have 48'' height requirements...I smell fabricated pine!

I think they're getting better about that. The last time I went ot SFMM (a Sunday a few weekends back) they were running 2 trains with 2 stations on Tatsu. I've noticed tis as well, but the load side always needs two checking, which is rare. If yo only leave one on load side, then that person has to check the entire train and lock/unlock seats and open/ close queue gates. When I was there, that person also had to deal with flash pass as well. But at least they're trying so I'll give them a B+ for effort, and an A if it works in July & August.
