  1. Classic. That's one thing I miss about working in the theme park scene. The GP never ceases to amaze me.
  2. I meant moreso for people who debate on whether to go to one park or another for their vacation, road trip etc. If it's something the park can market I can see it, but most relocates don't have media days.
  3. I'd normally say that shows are the best solution to long coaster lines, but SFGAD HAS shows, and probably the best a Six Flags park can produce. I say just don't add flats, add thrill rides as alternatives to coaster waits being excess of two hours... Huss Top Spin anyone???
  4. A Media Day??? Most rides that are relocated don't normally have Media Days, but it's cool that it will, because how else will people know it's there.
  5. I'm surprised that a Hyper is giving problems. B&M flyers have tons of downtime, but It's usually never anything mechanical. Most B&M problems I've either seen myself or heard about were 95% electrical. (B&M Flyers have prox. switches everywhere, hence the downtime) I'm surprised none the less. B&M is just about the most reliable ball of metal you can buy, which is why I think every park should have about two.
  6. ^That's just the advantage of being the Spurs. They're the defending champs and have veteran experience. In the eyes of the officials New Orleans is a young team that has talent and plays well, but makes "amature" mistakes. I am not saying that this is acually the case, but we know that in the world of sports, as well as everything else, reputation is everything. The Spurs are coming in this series as the favorite to win up until they receive two more losses. Simply put, It's hard to play the role of underdog.
  7. If it ends up just as rough as the old trains, it won't matter much to me. As long as I avoid car 7, it's quite enjoyable. I still can't wait. As for the FlashPass, I'm sure we will what the the average accum. total is, which the amount of people the operators can realistically cycle per hour on an average . I know that the goal for X with two trains was about 550, which obviously rules out any talk of Flashpass, and often a supervisor is required to give exit clearance for the ride. If the new trains and an efficient crew can get the accum. total to anywhere above 750, I can see Flashpass.
  8. ^^I'm sure it would just be an inadvertant goodie that it will be smoother. Lighter trains tend to do that, or at least i'm going to assume at this point. I think we will see this assumption answered a few years down the line.
  9. Can't wait to see how smooth of a ride X will provide. Haven't decided if i'm gonna do the campout yet.
  10. I say if theyreally want to keep the OSTR's get rid of the lap bar. On top of the OSTR's being uncomfortable, if you have long legs its not the most comfortable ride if you have to squeeze in that lap bar. I guess people were just shorter in the 70's.
  11. Ghostrider did not have that shed added to it until Knotts accquired that hotel. Before they owned it the park didn't care about the noise it made.
  12. When you start giving lee-way of expectations, thats when parking lot rides start popping up (joke). On a more serious note for a ride named Dominator I think vibrant, eye catching colors are a great way to go. Neon colors are great in this case, Like a yellow and green.
  13. ^^Classic advertisement. I'm sold. ___________________________________________ Now back to park jibberish. I would't rule out a Mack as the 2009 coaster. Sure lots of folks would disagree that they would invest in a wild mouse, but Mack has more than just Wild Mice in their catalogue. I give it til November. If 2X4's start showing up you know it's a GCI, and I'm almost certain it will be, but you never know.
  14. Yea they are testing that thing like crazy now. Opening weekend is about two weeks away .
  15. ^Im sure that winning the finals and the incentive money it come with will ease the pain of not winning MVP.
  16. I posted somewher else that SFMM could use a lakefront. Even if they just maintained that little space between Waterfront Comissary and the Batman Theatre, it would make that area look that much nicer.
  17. B&M shunned it because they thought it would effect the wheels in some way.
  18. ^I know at some point it was an " absolutely not" thing about painting the rails Now it's more of a "If you must" thing. In either scenario, Dominator needs a makeover. _____________________________________________________________ On a side note, I thought I'd be cool if Cedar Fair Licensed characters the same way other parks have to theme rides after. I mean, Camp Snoopy for the kids is great, but for major rides, It would be cool if they had Licensed characters to theme around. It's just a thought.
  19. I still want to go to SFGAD. I was supposed to go this summer, but my friend owed in taxes instead of a getting a refund, so we had to settle for something a bit cheaper. I really wanted to ride El Toro, but maybe next year. I also wanted to try another flyer. Even though Tatsu is longer than the Superman clones, it's faster too, so it looks as if the cycle time is about the same.
  20. Kobe has done an outstanding job at playing team ball this year. I think he was done a fantastic job at making his team better. He still is the centerpiece for the Lakers and he is the teams most valuable asset. Young guys are still interchangable and tradable, but talent AND experience are hard to come by.
  21. I doubt it. I'm sure the rails will be painted. It's just that for a while B&M would not let parks paint the rails. This ride originally opened before B&M gave a green light for rail painting.
  22. ^That was the point I was trying to make...I wasn't looking to argue, just poke fun. I'm glad at least one person caught it, so thanks for clearing that up.
  23. ^Don't get me wrong, I'm not badmouthing Manta in any way. I'm excited to see it because I know this park will theme it very well and themeing a ride is just as important as making the ride itself fun. I'm just a little skeptical of Ultimate flight because it looks fun and all, but it drops straight into the pretzel loop which can't be THAT intense (at least not as intense as Tatsu) Keep in mind Ultimate Flight drops 100 ft into a 78 ft. tall pretzel at 50 mph. Tatsu is cycling at 62 mph when it approaches its pretzel and drops further into it than the initial drop. (111 FT. drop, 124 ft pretzel)
  24. ^I would guess its because CA is more desirable destination tha FL. What besides theme parks would make someone take a trip to FL? I don't think people go for the hurricanes. Oh...that's right, the loose latin women in Miami.
  25. Fine then. The policy doesn't exsist, I'm just making stuff up.
