The Stand is his best work. the original or the Uncut version are both great books. It is my favorite book of all time. 'It' was good. Pet Semetary was awesome. I started losing interest in King when he started cranking out 4 books a year. I'd always purchased the hardbounds, and it got too costly. He wrote as Richard Bachman, Tabitha King and god knows who else. (tabitha king is his wifes name, but i remember Peter Straub saying something about Stephen using it for several books.)

Sorry to hear of your loss. I hate to put it this way, but time heals all if you let it. My mom passed when i was 28 and my dad when i was 30. It took me a long time to get over it (years) and holidays have never been the same. Keep the happy memories alive. The older you get, the more you'll rely on them. You'll develop the pictures when you're ready. One of my fondest memories was of my dad farting after eating beans. My sisters and I still crack up when we think about that. He was his own horn section. Trombones, really out of tune... Give yourself time. As much as you need.

Racism is alive and well pretty much everywhere. I saw a program just last night on Hate Rock (discovery channel). It was pretty interesting. Many questions come to mind on this subject. My neighbors, mostly Latino's, Chinesse, Koreans ask why you can have a United negro college fund but not a Koreans for college fund? My neighbor, who's been an american citizen his entire life, has family from Korea. He was told he could not start such a Non-Profit Org because it would be racist, becuase it excludes all those who are not Korean. But doesn the UNCF do that as well? There will always be racism, bigorty and general people-hate. People of the same color can't even agree on religion, polictics or a host of other things. I've worked with black people that rated each other based on the how black they in comparrison to toher blacks. (made no sense to me, but to them, it mattered big time...)

My daughter told me about this monday morning. She was in tears. It is sad. He died young, which is always a tragedy. He died doing what he liked so at least there's some comfort in that. RIP, Croc Man!
