Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Mr. Volcano replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thats true, I guess I didn't really think about the ride being on a road or asphalt, that matches the theme pretty good, and im sure it might turn out well when its all complete. Do you know for sure if they will do any effects to the track like CP did for dragster to make it feel faster? I was wondering if they may paint the ties holding the rails, but realized if they would have done that, it would have been shipped that way. I just thought from Yours and Keith's video, that the track might have kindof a color scheme like yellow and white to it. (but sometimes promotional videos use different colors showing the ride before its built, I learned that when BGT did the video for SheiKra). -Justin -

Im fairly excited about this, just hope its open when I go. I think the mini cooper cars are cute, they're detailed but not as highly as I thought they would be. I can definately see those things using the same premier lap restraints, but thats going to be one crowded mess getting into those cars. (Are the doors on there? I cant really tell, I know that the ride is suppose to be so realistic that youll have to open and close doors to get in from what I hear). The track layout is turning out better too, too bad the coloring selection of the coaster isn't very unique, its something you would see in an enclosed ride, like RnR or Space Mountain. -Justin -

Dave's Quick Orlando Update!
Mr. Volcano replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dave, It sounds like you had a great time at the parks, I'm glad you got to come down here and see the sun and visit some of the "Fun" stuff while you could It sounds like Universal and IOA were alot of fun, and like you covered most of Universal (Which I can barely do, or just not bother to ride some of the stuff thats in the park... ) Great TR! Have fun at Disney! -Justin -
So Florida will add its 2nd (or 3rd) Spinning Mouse Clone. Its expected to be one of the new Zamperla Spinning Mouse coasters much like the Ragin' Cajun http://rcdb.com/id2654.htm (If not the same exact thing). Keep in mind that Zamperla bought out Reverchon, which is why when Cypress Gardens confirmed a new Zamperla coaster everyone freaked out assuming we were getting a volare. I think it will be a nice addition, the ride setup sounds interesting, my guess is how well he will be able to theme the ride, but I think the whole concept itself is very neat, as far as the theme of the coaster goes. Photo TR: SFOG Opening Weekend 2005
Mr. Volcano replied to jarmor's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Wow! Great pics guys! (everyone that pretty much uploaded them). I thought I was going to get to go to SFoG next weekend with some friends and hit Wild Adventures in the same trip, unfortinutely I cant find anyone to go so maybe I'll have to make the trip another time (I took this same trip last year, it was amazing fun). Its interesting in some of the shots of the rides, I saw new restraints? Is it only me that notices it? Acrophobia now has purple, Batman and Scorcher have black, maybe they just painted them or maybe their new, but I thought I remembered Batman having yellow, Acry having yellow, and Scorcher yellow. -Justin -

Great Pictures Robb, I enjoyed the update Interesting to see them adding a Skyventure on citywalk, does Universal own the one in Orlando already? The War of the Worlds set looked amazing, and I cant wait to see the movie. Great Update, thanks for sharing with us! -Justin "I didn't know Joey worked at Universal Hollywood"

Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Elements
Mr. Volcano replied to GAcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
GA, Thanks for the review, interesting how it appeared so fast, I actually went to Animal Kingdom today! The interesting thing was the bathrooms in the Raffikis Planet Watch pavillion in the back of the park, past africa when you take the train ride to get over there. (I hope you dont mind me getting off to a story of my own but I have something to say about that which was "disturbing/interesting". We walk in there and decide we should use the restroom, before walking around... when we get in there we find a bathroom has animal wallpaper in it playing "animal noises" this was the biggest WTF moment I have ever had in a park. Shortly after going to a urinal a guy walks in and heads toward a stall, its just playing music at the time he comes in and we hear the music start playing a couple of seconds later with the animal noises. "What.. The. HELL!?!?!!!!" we hear... and start cracking up, this was an awful situation, trying to piss but crack up at the same time. If it gets even worse, we look in front of us and see a sign, it gets bad enough to read "How much does an elephant pee per day? How much does a hippo pee per day? The answers you will find when you wash your hands!" this was another funny as hell moment but couldn't stop to laugh, I dont know why it was so funny guess it was just random/disturbing and odd to put something for someone to read while pissing... (Everyone also had a WTF look around us) and when we go to the wash our hands the sink says "25gallons"... disturbing... Anyways just thought I would share that, sorry it was weird and random, but your review was good. Everyone always has an interesting point of how they dont like Animal Kingdom, most people dont but I dont mind it. Sorry that your trip wasn't very good, as far as seeing animals I actually found AK more enjoyable in animals, I feel that BGT's selection of animals is weird, and their walkthroughs are weird too, like their gorilla exhibit which doesn't impress me, I like AK's alot. Overall I understand how most people just dont care for this park though, it really does need alot, they desperately need Everest, and more! (That ride is going by very well though if you noticed) -Justin -
Dive Machines? What are your thoughts?
Mr. Volcano replied to downunder's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes, but the good thing about Sheikra being allitle bit higher is that it doesn't drop into a tunnel when it shows it's height. Sheikra may be 20ft taller in drop related, but it will be 135ft height wise, that might be allitle more exciting hanging from the drop looking down that high, IMO. I dont really know if the cars on SheiKra will make a big deal on the ride experience, if it will pull the car faster, or slower, I dont know, But I know this will be more than just a "drop ride" as an experience you cant compare it to a tower, its got alot more involved with it (the high immelman loop, the splashdown, two vertical drops, and a longer coaster track than the other dive machines). But as for the other ones go, I guess people may consider them close enough to a drop ride, still look good to me, just really short. -Justin "Who cant wait to ride SheiKra" -
Who's going to parks this weekend?
Mr. Volcano replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to BGT today, and Sea world is tommorow... but I dont think they just opened -Justin "who just posted a TR!" -
Okay, so this was my first visit back to BGT, and I haven't been to the place since October of last year, alot of the changes have surprised me, like the new tram tunnel they had been working on, some painting that has been going on around some of the buildings, new gardens, and artwork on the SheiKra posters and banners. I wasn't expecting a trip to the park today at all, infact I had to take my DATA course down here, and sucesfully passed that (yay!) after going to school for a class from 10-11. I get home around 1 to find out my dad wants to go BGT, so he comes in my room and asks "Do you want to go ride that amazing Python? I dont really want to waste time on Montu & Kumba, but im excited about Python!" So we head over there after making a stop to Chick Fil A, I had one of those awesome free meal tickets that come on the calendars you buy at the resteraunt. We ate and headed to the park and got there around 2. The park had alot of changes since I had last been there, and it was the first time I used the new parking lot change, and rode the tram over to the park under the tunnel, they're still doing some slight work around that area adding a service building of some sort. The new tramstop was also added, although they dont have any shade or anything for the guests while they're waiting for the tramstops (The old tramstops, both on each side have been arranged into a pass booth to prevent traffic jams in the old walk through gates). When we get in the park we find its completely dead and no one was around at all, we ignore Gwazi and head right to Montu (We were lucky and even got 3rides on it!). Staff seemed to be doing a pretty good job, but I haven't liked the new system that they've been using since last October where you can get re-rides, even if there is NO ONE in the station waiting, you have to go all the way through the que again, and in that time there is a 60second time lap they have to wait, if the train isn't loaded in that amount of time they will send it through, even if there is no riders on (Dumb, dumb, dumb, DUMB!!!). Montu was running great today as usual, it seemed like our first ride we got there was no trims on, but the 2nd and 3rd ride there was (Must have been in a spot we couldn't have heard the breaks hitting the first ride). I think they've greased up the lifthill or something, you can usually ride in different rows and notice that it is quiter in some place, but while we rode in all 3different places (Middle, front, and very back) it was all VERY quiet. After this we head over to the sky-ride, take the sky-ride over to Stanleyville as a shortcut to hit Kumba. On the skyride you can see SheiKra clear as day, and gives you an opportunity to view its massive structure and size, this coaster really was big as I was expecting it would be. We got over and find out that the crane is lifting the last section of the drop, so we head over there and watch it for allitle bit, getting topped off. After this was our chance to ride Kumba, we head down and get two back row rides and one in the middle, it was slightly more crowded than Montu but nothing "crowded" really, at all. The ride was also running great, im guessing they must have greased the two coasters lifts, it was just like montu being quiet enough to hear anything around the park. That was pretty much our day, simple but it was a good visit, quick visit as well. It was good to see my dad being able to ride coasters again after his surgery since he cant do as much anymore, he seems to be getting back into the swing of things, I guess he wanted to go back because of the amazing B&Ms. (He's as much of a fan of B&M as Elissa is Intamin... or TOGO? ) Well I took some pictures so I guess I'll upload them, they are 800x600 photos each. (if these files are too much you can delete them). -Justin "stay tuned kiddies, and I'll have a cypress update sometime!" Another shot of the drop and lift. A side angle showing off the long drop on Shakira. Note: Shakira only has a couple of supports on the drop! "SheiKra: Diving to a Vekoma track near you" This was one of the MANY banners showing off SheiKra in the park. Shows that they're proud of their new coaster unlike Cheetah Chase! Look, a B&M. Lets go ride it. Some more work is done to the smokehouse area, and the turnaround is complete now. (NOTE: you can get extremely close to the huge track, under it and below it right over that turnaround, thats going to be insane watching that thing go through!) This will be an amazing shot for footage and pictures once this ride is up! A shot of the beautiful second drop... And yet another beautiful shot of SheiKra from the Skyride. A shot that shows SheiKra off from the Skyride (Nice View).

At IOA we are really strict with camera's. Not really sure how other rides are but due to Dueling Dragons being a dueling coaster where its a very real chance that any bag or camera could be dropped at a duel point and cause really bad injury to another guest, we are A-holes about it. So we keep an eye out for that. Usually we'll catch people in the station or when it goes out into the transfer track and we'll take it from them and then give it back.. but if they do it more than once or are an ass about not being able to film, then they can deal with security. Those video cell phones have been a problem lately. However, with enthusiasts... esp. those I know on message boards.. I never see anything. Eric Ive seen alot of nasty things happen on/at Dueling Dragons, not from the ride operators but stupid people being annoying... I see alot of people go through the baby swap on long lines, and I guess they finally closed that door off, but I see this happen quite frequently when they will sneak around the door and jump ahead of everyone (which really isn't fair, basically line jumping)... If I want to wait to ride it again or the other Dragon I have to go around and wait through the regular que, so its not cool knowing that they hopped in front of so many people without waiting their turn... I also have seen alot of complaints from cell phones the most (put them up!) and alot of responses like "No, Im going to keep it..." etc.. etc... -Justin "its funny how I haven't heard people be brats on any other rides, but Dueling Dragons attracts alot of angry peeps?"

Cliff's Adding THREE new Rides for 2005
Mr. Volcano replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know I'm allitle late but that tower is an A.R.M. Tower, looks exactly like the same model that Cypress Gardens has. (I can tell by the cars, the car has a roof over the top so when you look up you cant see the top of the tower). As for the park rides it looks like you're getting a nice variety of small classic flatrides, I've never ridden a falling star or a music express for that matter, but they're classics -Justin -
TR: 90 Minutes at Knott's Berry Farm...
Mr. Volcano replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow I dont know what to expect from Knotts when im going to go there this year... This is definately interesting. I want to know why they differ so much from the other CF parks? I never really had a problem at CP yet or anything, but this park seems to be down so little in caring for their guests it seems like. (This park reminds me of BGT SO much). Silver Bullet definately looks interesting, not a coaster on the top of my list that I want to ride more than Xcelerator there, but it looks okay. Well thanks for sharing the pics, overall it was a funny update, but sorry it wasn't the best trip you ever had -Justin "Those pictures are also very nice, BTW" -
I'm raised in a Baptist Christian household... but I dont really find myself "christian" I guess.. When I was little I was big into christianity and really religious but I've drifted away from God I guess, so I dont consider myself Christian really, and the subject kindof makes me upset I guess, I dont have anything against christians at all, but I just dont see myself as one anymore. Nothing against the religions, just seemed too questionable for me, and all the rules and weird stuff, it was weird... and confusing, but I still believe there is a God out there watching over everyone, I just dont know about the whole thing (I even pray once and a blue moon) so I guess im not really "athiest" just wouldn't consider myself very religious. -Justin "the non-athiest/non-christian?"
