Walt Disney Studio's Tower Of Terror preview!
DBru replied to Simba's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm a Tower of Terror virgin, so could someone tell me, do you board that service elevator where all the numbers are? -
^Ah but you see, down here in Breckinridge County (AKA: Redneck Central), we call that the "Mud Slingin." That is COMPLETELY different than "Muddin." Oh, and PS: Wikipedia isn't ALWAYS correct. After all, you shouldn't believe everything you read......unless you're on TPR!
-
Actually, "muddin" is taking your ATV out after it downpours and sling through mud puddles on dirt roads out on your farm. Sorry, I'm from Kentucky... haha. Then again, I don't live on a farm, don't own a ""4-wheeler", and do not enjoy being hit in the face with clumps of mud that dry quickly. Is there something wrong with me?

Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread
DBru replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, with SFKK being one of my home parks, I would like to add that there was ALWAYS a line for the ride. Granted, it wasn't always a long line, there was definitely a wait. I did a survey for math the other day, and my question was, "If Superman: Tower of Power were to reopen in 2008, would you ride it?" 92% of the 804 students surveyed reported that they would not get on the ride. This was very sad to me. But every time we went to Holiday World this year (since July), I heard AT LEAST four groups of people talking about how they weren't going to ride Liberty Launch because, "It's not safe!", or ,"I want to keep my feet!" Does that not make you frustrated? -
My dad doesn't like thrill rides, so when we go to parks together, he sits on a bench and "people watches." This is where you do nothing but observe all the strange or ignorant people you see walking by. He finds it quite interesting. lol. I have seen some pretty interesting people at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. This summer, my Dad, brother, and I were walking into Splashwater Kingdom and there was a very strange couple coming out of Tornado. The 30-ish year old man had both nipples pierced and his hair in two soaked pigtails. The girl, a bit younger than he, had multiple piercings on her face, and from her knees down, and wrists up, was covered in black, purple, and green tattoos. I was not sure if their tongues were pierced though, for they were down in each others throats. I wanted to laugh, but was afraid they would beat me up or something... What are parks where you find it interesting to people watch? *Please note, I have searched for this topic and found nothing. Please forgive me if this is a repeat.*

Goliath (SFOG) Hard Rock Park Carowinds BGE Kings Dominion Rockin' Roller Coaster (MGM Studios Florida) Dueling Dragons
-
What was the 100th coaster that you've ridden? And if you haven't ridden 100 coasters, what would you want it to be? I am nearing 100 and I'm probably going to make it Goliath at SFOG this summer.
-
The Screamin' Squirrel by S&S is an interesting coaster. You go up, you go straight, you fall upside-down, you hang there, you turn right-side up, then you do it again, and again, and again. I personally enjoy hang time, so I kind of like it. Yes, it would probably get boring after a while, but it was a nice concept I guess. What do you think?
-
Oh yeah, I forgot about the hang time on the last corkscrew of FoF. I like it, but too bad it has to be that way........ (stupid MCBR!)
-
I love the feeling of hanging upside down...comfortably. I think Mystery Mine has some great hang-time, so it is my pick. How about you all?

Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread

What I don't understand is how maintenance missed that the cable was tearing? I mean, the ride did get a daily check-up before opening, didn't it? -
Worst Coaster Experience
DBru replied to airforcekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Mine was also on Wilde Beast. I had read a review before I went to the park and it said that the coaster was pretty good...haha, ERRRR! WRONG! Either their was a 2 minute earthquake going on, or the coaster was jackhammering as if it were trying to shake the rider's brains loose. Plus, the seatbelt buckle was digging into my thigh! OUCH! -
Bad Color Schemes and/or Just Ugly Coasters
DBru replied to MattJackson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually really like that color scheme. It stands out and just looks cool. I thought the same about the DejaVu's. -

I believe I have been doing pretty well with my posting.... -
What happened to the Chaos roller coaster? It was fairly new when the park closed....... I don't buy the "it was losing money!" crap. I have been a couple times, and my mother and father went many times. The park was ALWAYS packed, even on weekdays. The mall, on the otherhand, is very uncrowded except for on the Holidays.

Bad Color Schemes and/or Just Ugly Coasters
DBru replied to MattJackson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Where do you see green on RCDB? Are you referring to the faded, ugly, peeling yellow color with the purple supports? Because I am talking about a distinct lime-green color. -
Contrary to reports otherwise...
DBru replied to texcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Better than reviews: Maverick: From the beginning people dogged on this coaster because of the restraints, but I fell in love with it. The airtime and speed are just pure bliss! It's my new #1. Son of Beast: I don't know why people think this is so bad. Even with the Premier trains the ride had good speed and an awesome first drop! The rosebowl is rough, but I see it as strong intensity, and I liked it! Millie: MF is full of airtime and fun overbank elements, why do people think there is something wrong with it? Disaster Transport: I found it to be fun and well worth the wait. Italian Job: Stunt Track: The coaster has a fun launch, some air in the front and back seats, good scenery, and the indoor section is great! Skyrider: I for one enjoy TOGO coasters, and this is my favorite stand-up. Cheetah: Yes, it has G-trains, but I rode this air-filled coaster over and over with no pain what-so-ever! Worse than reviews: Raptor: It was fun for the most part, but on the very last turn into the brakerun, the train made a strange jolt and banged my head into the OTSR. OWWW! The whole train was complaining about it at the end of the ride, is this unusual? Thunderhead: It is a fun ride and everything, but what is so great about it? There is minimal airtime and I just got bored after a while. The Legend: Though the coaster was somewhat smoother this season, you can only turn to the right so many times before your tolerance runs out. Vortex(KI): Lots of people try to defend Vortex, but I think I would better enjoy jumping of a cliff while hitting myself in the neck with hammer. Vortex(CW): Hurt way worse than Top Gun. Georgia Cyclone: Everyone raves that this is the star of the park, but IMO, there is too much pain to enjoy the airtime. SFKK Note: The park has very much improved these last few years. I noticed this past season that the employees were more friendly and helpful than ever. They even tried to entertain the crowd in the station. At times when people were sitting on the rails, I thought it was funny when operators dropped the hint by saying, "If you are not sitting on the rails, raise your hand." Haha, I cracked up every time. For a small-medium sized park, there is a good collection of coasters, including some stars such as Thunder Run, Chang, and Greezed Lightnin'. Yes we do have T2, and yes, our flat ride population is decreasing year-by-year, but I believe that SFKK is headed in the right direction. Now if only Mr. Shapiro would show us some love.... -
What company makes/made the best Stand-up coasters?
DBru replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
From someone who has ridden many stand-ups, Mantis is probably one of the crappiest out there. It has aged horribly and for some reason is nowhere near as enjoyable as its "sister-coaster", Chang, which resides at one of my home parks. I think stand-up coasters would be tons better if they stopped messing with strange transitions from inversion to inversion, and started including more airtime-filled hills. That is why I prefer the TOGO models. They throw you up in the air, and that is just awesome because you are already standing up! -
Bad Color Schemes and/or Just Ugly Coasters
DBru replied to MattJackson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What all all color schemes has Chang had? In a brochure from many years ago, it was green, but I don't recall ever seeing it green...... And no, it was not a picture of Riddler's Revenge. -

What coasters can you think of that have strange paint jobs that don't seem to fit the name/theme? I think that Tomb Raider: The Ride at Canada's Wonderland has a very strange paint scheme. I mean, what does yellow and blue have to do with a tomb? Hello? Please share your opinions. -
Coaster Dynamics Help
DBru replied to DBru's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Instead of buying all new wheels, could I just take the ones off of the train that comes with the Scorpion model? Now that the Apollo's Chariot trains are coming out, I may buy one of those instead of the Griffon train.
