I'm going to be there the same day so I've been watching closely. The only event happening around that time is grad night on 5/21. 5/20 should be the ideal day to go for short lines as it's a Monday with no holidays or events. The only ride that I've heard is in rehab is Apocalypse, which has been running one train as a result. I don't know how long the rehab usually takes, it could be back to normal by then. On the flip side, Riddler's is actually back to two trains for the first time in forever, I'm excited to be able to ride without the hour+ wait

In my experience the orange train is a little better, but they're both rough. I typically sit in the last or next to last row. Ive ridden the yellow train a couple times in the last month like that it it works ok, I mean again its not making the ride smooth, but at least you can usually ride without it beating the hell out of you like it sometimes does but it's rough almost every time. It is weird though how every once in a while I'll get a completely smooth ride on Kong, I never can figure out why but it's awesome when it happens. I enjoy that Kong keeps the Medusa line shorter. If I want to ride a suspended coaster I'll go to CGA and ride Flight Deck. I agree with the first part of your post, but for me SFDK is a 45 min drive and CGA is a 2 hour drive. Flight Deck is WORLDS better than Kong (And don't get me started about how much Gold Striker blows Roar and Grizzly away) but I can't make that long drive down 680 as often as I can the quick drive up I-80. I'll definitely be making a trip down to CGA again some time soon once Gold Striker opens to the public so I can ride Flight Deck and Demon, it's been too long.

^ Glad the one day I was there was the 30th then..at the time they were still somewhat receptive to row requests. I did notice there seems to be less space behind the air gates than other GCI stations, so it will either just be assigned seating or it will be loaded like Kong, one station of riders entering at a time picking seats first come first serve.

I noticed Roar running two trains as well, very nice to see! Also nice that Medusa appears to have three trains at her disposal so two can still run with one in rehab. Regarding Kong..have you tried my strategy? I realize its ridiculous to have a need for a strategy to ride a coaster, but nonetheless, it does help me avoid the head banging and ear crushing. If you turn your head in the direction of an upcoming turn, the force of the turn pushes the back of your head into the restraint rather than the side of the head. It doesn't make the ride smooth, but its a somewhat natural movement and helps you enjoy the ride (as much as Kong can be enjoyed) rather than focusing your attention on the concussion you'd otherwise be receiving

The way it was posted it looks like it's the park saying: "If you agree to go union we will give you a 6% raise" but perhaps it was more like the mechanics asking "If we go union will you agree to give us a 6% raise to compensate for the dues" which they supposedly agreed to and backed out of...that would at least be plausible, though I find it hard to believe that they would agree to it.

Yes definitely..they seemed very worried about not having enough people and were going up and down the line telling everyone to tell as many people as they could to show up and that they need not sign up. Heck even yesterday they werent checking anything. There were probably 500 or so people to start but the number dwindled quickly as a majority of the people only rode a couple times. They said yesterday that their goal was to run 25 cycles on each train, so 50 total. They started at about 5:15 and ended about 7:45. Most people got in about 8 or 9 rides, a few got more by doing rerides (essentially as single rider fill-ins) toward the end.

Everyone there that I talked to was in pretty solid agreement that it far exceeded any expectations that we had, it blew us away. For myself I have not yet ridden Outlaw Run, El Toro, or the Dueling Dragon High Five woodie in China..I think those could possibly be better, but its certainly my #1 for now, and I think safe to say GCI's best coaster to date by a pretty wide margin. I hope it's a sign of what's to come from them.

Can't sum it up any better than that. I got eight rides in on rows 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12..row 6 was my favorite. This is definitely the first time that I've found the middle to be the best ride! Row 12 was a trip, out of my seat all the way down the first drop. Absolutely loved it. Wish I could come back Weds and Thurs. On that note - the CGA staff that were there said that anyone who wants to come ride can just show up Weds or Thurs from 5-8pm no sign up or confirmation is necessary, they'll let anyone in. "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend (it)."

^ But that was a great moment! Hurricane has always been one of my favorites because of that one dive. It was actually significantly more intense in it's opening weekend..it was open for a couple days then they shut it down and made some adjustments to slow it down and reopened it. I heard during the first couple days some people actually came off injured..not sure how much of that is true.

They haven't announced it yet, but they did announce the first rider auction rides will be on may 8th, so it can be assumed the public opening will be the 11th, the first public day after that. But I wouldn't make any non-refundable travel plans based on that date until the park confirms it. Lending credence to this is that for the current half price ticket deal with Wendys the fine print says that it runs through May 11...I'm betting this will be the day.
