Matterhorn Rehab
3rdShiftCM replied to Guy T. Koepp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Someone correct me if i'm wrong here but, I do believe they replaced the track tubing a few years ago. Can you imagine what could have happened if they had cut back to far on those rehabs? The ride is 47 years old. How many 47 year old steel coasters are there out there anyway? -
The X-Scream topic got me thinking. Have you ever really thought you were gonna die on a ride? I mean really had a life flash before you moment. I personally have. I rode Vertigo at KBF and Thrill shot an SFMM for the first time in the same week, Vertigo first. When I went on Vertigo my restraint was tight, I loved the ride. Well when I went on Thrill shot my restraint was loose, so when the ride hit the top I got the airtime from hades. I actually started to reach back for something grab on to, I was looking straight down at the ground thinking I'm gonna die! I'll never forget that ride. So much FUN! How about you guys?

X-Scream...
3rdShiftCM replied to thrillrideseeker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seriously.... this thing is bound to have a major disaster sometime in it's lifespan. It's just structurally weird... and if you front-loaded the thing with a bunch of 300 pounders from Kansas I can't imagine the thing holding the weight. I've been on hundreds of rides all over the world, and this one *REALLY* freaked me out. Not because it's scary, and certainly not because of a fear of heights (I've bungee jumped for god's sake) but because the ride looks and feels simply *dangerous*, and totally waiting for something to go wrong. It's not really enjoyable, it's more a form of torture. You should be scared because a ride is good at thrilling you, not because it's going to break! Did you worry about the bungy cord breaking? I can only imagine how many redundent saftey systems that ride has. The ride is totaly safe. Ride only did what it was designed to do, scare the crap out of you! -
X-Scream...

Big shot will always rule the tower. X-Scream is fun but, I liked Insanity better. The view is incredible! Can't wait to ride them again. -

^^^ It would seem from what the CP has said this ride is for the Non extreme set. Basically there version of a family coaster. I think it looks great! I just hope they actually theme the ride like the video and pictures show. Anyone remember The concept art for Plundge at KBF? -

...you gotta be kiding me When every one of these coasters came out it WAS the biggest and the best. There not gonna tear down a new coaster everytime something bigger comes out. People are so unappreciative of the incredible rides at this park it blows my mind You said it exactly! When they came out they where the biggest and best of there kind but, all there rides have been one up since then. Does the park have an awesome amount of coasters? Yes! Are they the best in the world? NO! Now about Maverick, if the ride turns out just like that concept picture, themeing and all, it looks to be a great ride. I just hope its official. -
Eejanaika Opening Day Photos & POV Video
3rdShiftCM replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll start by saying that I really enjoy X but, i'm not waiting forever to go on it. That said, there seems to be a lot little changes to the overall ride. The biggest of those changes in the station, new maintenance and transfer table area and drop away floor which you would think would cut down on load times and general wear and tear. When it comes to the actual ride, they seem to have done all they could to smooth the ride. The trains appear at least to me, to travel at a more consistent rate and the longer turn around I'm sure helped a lot. I, also think the smaller trains will help a lot also but, like was said nothing really "NEW" about the ride. But, I'll wait until we get some reviews back from the few that will get to ride both. -
Universal Studios Hollywood Questions
3rdShiftCM replied to iCoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
JP at IOA didn't get the water diverter because it has always been a trouble plagued effect. JP at USH had so many issues when it first opened, that being one of them. -
This is going to sound really weird but, I would love to get a crack at those employees. I really believe a lot can be changed with the right leadership. Aren't there any Managers left that care? So hard to see how bad things are. What happened to taking pride in yourself and your job?!?!?!?

Medusa at SFMW to change name to Nitro?
3rdShiftCM replied to V2-dude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Like Oh my god, how could they do that!! Got to love them Kids!! -
This whole thing is pretty simple. What makes more sense for SF, selling the park entirely or investing the money and it will take lots of money to bring MM up to the "NEW" SF standards? Beyond the coasters there really is nothing else to do and the locals know that. I just can't see the park leveled the cost of clean up to build houses would be staggering maybe even to high to make it worth it. So, I think the real question is, will SF really be willing to give up the SoCAl market all together? There’s no question the money and people are here if you just do things right and MM has been going in the wrong direction for a long time. So we'll just have to sit back and see what comes of this but, I would be willing to bet that when all is said and done MM will still be there.

Steel Dragon 2000 is open!
3rdShiftCM replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Someone correct me if I’m wrong but, Steel Dragon had a vehicle issue and Wild Thing had a track issue right? So, they weren't exactly related problems. -
The Dodgers have several USH promotions this year and they would need to know well before hand so it can be properly advertised. I can tell you that this was recently added as it wasn't on the original promotions list. This is about as close to official as your going to get. So Joey, anything to add?

How often do you visit a theme park?

This is bad but, I'm at DL like once a week. -

I love the idea of an Aquatrax, I noticed it's mostly the younger set that's unhappy about this idea. My only problem is that unless CP has decided to heavily theme a ride for the first time ever, I don't think the Aquatrax would look good as a stand alone coaster, of course that's IMHO. I've always been impressed with what Lotte world did with there’s, I would hope that any other park that built one would follow there lead. -

^ I wonder if this being an Invert would make a difference? I still can't believe that there will be walkways through the area to begin with. The ride looks amazing, just one more reason to go to Germany. -
Thrill Shot at SFMM......
3rdShiftCM replied to 4718's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was fortunate enough to ride both Vertigo and Thrill Shot in it's original form. I loved both rides but had my first life flash in front of me moments on Thrill Shot. I never rode the modified cart version, just wouldn't be the same. So for me Thrill Shot died along time ago. If you never rode the first version, you just wouldn't understand. Those restraints were the best. -
SFMM trivia
3rdShiftCM replied to colossus's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Dude, I loved the Enterprise, removed for a queue. Why didn't they just move it, Z-Force too. Goes to show you how long they have been losing more then gaining. MM used to be a family park and was so much easier to get around. Can anyone name all the different transportation rides there used be to at MM. -
