  1. Ok, I have both I would recomend the 360 It has better games, more of them, and more that are already discounted, you know, cheap If you like RPG's it is ruling the consoles this gen It has a much better online community, PS3 is free, but 360 $5 a month is totally worth it It comes with a three year warranty for RROD The Ps3 is more reliable, but I have had my 360 since july of '06 and have no issues Also with regard to Blu-Ray, it still has one more hurtle to go It has to beat regular DVD, and prove to people who don't care that they HAVE to upgrade Oh and Blu-rays are still to expensive, I still don't own one, I bought an HD-DVD player when it was in its death throws as an upscaling DVD player, and have some HD-DVD's, really its a little better than regular DVD, but not really enough for the average consumer, expecially with a good upconvert DVD player OH and the 20GB model is on sale for 299.99, while supplies last
  2. I still say it doesn;t matter what Nintendo does or does not announce. I just got Zak and Wiki, and am loving it, but I was at the store yesterday, and was looking over the titles available for the system, and its depressing, its basically a wall of terrible crap, with a smattering of AWESOME nintendo titles here and there, so many lame games trying to capitalize on uniformed Wii owners, thank GOD Nintendo is the BEST first party developer. The Wii is not my platform of choice for gaming, we bought it on a whim, when we saw one at target, I'm certainly not sad we bought it, but I will say there are times it sits and collects dust for extended periods, like last xmas, with the 360's rediculious amount of awesome titles, I'm still not done with those. Animal Crossing will be one of my family's most anticipated titles for the holiday season, The only real dissapointment is that it seems to look exactly like the gamecube version, and I mean EXACTLY!!!
  3. I now have all three systems, here is my take on E3, from a 20+ year gamer Wii At this point Nintendo could release a game about taking a dump, and it would sell on the Wii, I am actually excited about Animal Crossing (We bought three DS's, and three copies of the game for that system) so a Wii version is certainly good news They should have announced more, if they had more to announce, but they are so far in the lead, and have such great momentum, I'm not sure it matters, they could have sent a stage hand up there, and said "the wii is doing well, when we release more games, buy them, thanks have a nice night", and they would still steamroll the competition 360 IMO they won, just with the announcement of FF13 coming to the 360, that was the WTF I was looking for, other than that, they had some nice games they announced, and a redesigned dash board, all things that were somewhat expected, but good to see. PS3 they had some good games, none unexpected except for Mag, 256 online multiplayer sounds pretty damn awesome, if they pull it off, we will see. Nice to see God of War, lame to bring the 40GB functionality to the 80GB model (no PS2 compatability), Glad I have the 60GB model, I think if Microsoft did not announce Final Fantasy 13, Sony would have won, by a small amount, I'm just bummed it was hoping it would be Marcus VS Kotos this xmas in summation Wii could sell a steaming pile of crap as an accesory, and everyone would go for it, nice to see animal crossing though 360 stole Final Fantasy, and is easily the console for JRPG's PS3 has a promising looking multiplayer game called Mag, 265 players, lets wait and see if it becomes a 256 player Cluster %$#@, great to see god of war
  4. All this weather choas, and I'm sitting here in Albuquerque, with 90 degree temps, and nothing, its just warm you know now that I think about it, there is no real danger of any natural disaster here.
  5. GM has stated the Zr-1 will beat the nissans GTR time throught the Nuerburgring, I have no doubt, with over 630hp, AND less weight. The ZR-1 should be around $100,000
  6. I think vegans and vegetarians are awesome, standing up and making a statement with a change in your life like that is awesome That said, in the same breath, The fact some people love to eat meat is thier right as well, People trying to force thier beliefs on anyone else is wrong, no matter what side of the argument you are on I also have some serious problems with PETA, they have funded domestic terror groups in the past, and proves that they care more for thier cause, than the right for people to have diffrent opinions http://www.heartland.org/Article.cfm?artId=11599 Vegans and Vegetarians are awesome, PETA is not, spread you beliefs with understanding and kindness, not with fire, bombs, and murder
  7. Awesome, congrats on meeting Ann Coulter, she's kinda a conservative shock jock, but she certainly can make you think, very very smart woman I met Tim Green former NFL player in Santa Cruz, he has, or had (not sure) a resturaunt there
  8. Black Tide - Warriors of time Way to talented to be a band of teens

  12. Happy Birthday, Kidtums AWESOME pics from Legoland Robb
  13. A physical way to store movies or music is not going anywhere, The reason CD sales have slipped, is that its easier and cheaper to download a album of music from Itunes, or whatever service, then tranfer the songs to your MP3 player and burn a CD for your car, you still can end up with a CD of the album. Movies don't seen to be taking the same route, they are more like rentals so far, so Blockbuster and Netflix should be worried, but not anyone who produces DVD's, it may actually increase sells of movies, if its easier to watch a movie for cheap, and someone decides they like the movie so much they want to own it, they will buy it, on disk format
  14. Just look at it from that angle, the A3 is a very good upconverting unit. I needed a new DVD player back around November and was really tempted to pick up the A3 just to act as an upconverting unit. Sales worked out however so I ended up getting the Blu-Ray player instead. Now the question is how long until Blu-Ray begins to compete against DVD. I think the real question is this Is the diffrence between Blu-Ray, and regular DVD enough to make people switch? I use my A3 to watch regular DVD, and some of the newer movies look pretty amazing upconverted I have the Indiana Jones Trilogy, the Digitally remastered one, and it looks really good The jump from tapes to CD was huge, no other media format has been able to challenge the CD. we are now switching to download music, which is actually a downgrade in quality The jump from VHS to DVD is huge, and the jump from DVD to Blu-ray is not quite as big, It will be intresting to see how it plays out I'm not totally sold on digital downloads for movies, because even though I get some music from I tunes, I can still burn it to CD and listen to it anywhere, Digital downloads only play on the device you downloaded them to (apple TV, Xbox 360), thats very restrictive
  15. Well, Hd-DVD is officially dead i did buy the A3 hd-dvd player for about $120, but considering its regarded as one of the best upconverting DVD players on the market, I'll just keep my DVD's and get a small library of Hd-DVD to enjoy as they will all be clearanced out When the Blu-Ray players come down to a reasonalble price, and they finally settle on a concrete standard, then I'll get a blu-ray player
  16. Here is why I say that The leap from audio cassette to CD was huge, in terms of sound quality, and how well it ages The Leap from VHS to DVD was huge, for the same reasons, plus, I have yet to have my DVD players "eat" one of my dvd's They have tried to replace the CD with better sounding items, like DVD audio, there was an enhanced CD for a while, but nothing has caught on, in fact, alot of people listen to thier music now on Ipods, which is worse quality than CD's DVD's still look good, even on HDTV's, it helps if you have an upconverting DVD player, but the question remains, is it enough of a jump to MAKE the consumer buy into the technology at this point, and I say no, I still buy DVD's knowing that when and if Blu-Ray does take over, my DVD's will still play, and look fine and like wes said, Digital distribution is the wave of the future, having your movies saved on a huge hard drive, in hi-def, kinda like how ipods have most of your music on them now....
  17. I'll probably get an Hd-dvd player, it will work as an upscaling DVD player, and there is a good asortment of movies available, and they will be pretty cheap pretty soon. I don't really care for using my 360 as an upscaling DVD player, I have never used a game machine as a main movie player, and my DVD player is dying regular dvd's will be with us for a long long time
  18. That's not I was referring to. Internet distribution means the movie would be downloaded or streamed to your television or computer. Like what Apple is doing with iTunes rentals, Netflix is getting into as well, etc. No more waiting for discs to arrive in th mail, no more having to go to the rental place, no more physical media. Once 1080p can be delivered with enough speed properly, it's going to take off and discs will be dead. You can "rent" movies from xbox live that are 720p, I have not seen a 1080p one yet, I'm sure they are coming though
  19. LOL, yeah, I have downloaded a few things on my 360, its really pretty cool, I just need the bigger hard drive, LOL, oh well, I'll wait till it really gets into full swing
  20. qThose jerks used to come through Albuquerque, and this year they didn't, it was becoming a family tradition, very very disapointed
  21. Our DVD player is dying a slow and horrible death, and now that walmart has HD-DVD players for $149, its tempting, but I'm going to wait My 360 is an upscaling DVD player, and I guess that will do for now, then eventually I will get a new standalone Blu-Ray player, when they get closer to $100
  22. I must be the dumb american you are talking about, considering my post on the front page says I'm buying an HDTV thanks BTW, I have a budget, and my mortage is paid, and I have no car payments, and have very little debt, yes I am dumb
  23. Well it is technically a tax rebate, so they are just giving you back the money you gave them already them, and they are not producing it out of thin air, in theory I guess they are using history as a guide, the last time this happened, right after GW took office, it did stimulate the economy we will have to wait and see if it works, I do hope it does, I'm not really in the mood for a recession, I would like to buy a new house in the next few years
  24. I am in total SHOCK that they actually did something, and quickly to, both sides made comprimises, I'm pretty impressed Will it make a diffrence, who knows, I just know I'll be able to get my new HDTV finally
  25. I love baseball, and this is sad, but will not change my love of the game, just my respect level for some of the players Sad and disapointing, but also not a very well kept secret
