  1. The only thing I don't like about this entire thing is the location in regards to the skyline...for a hyper, it looks small because it is located on a lower area of the land as opposed to the rest of the park, thus not giving it that dominance from afar that I wish it did. With that said, if that's the only complaint I have, this is going be a helluva ride! The drop looks great (albeit the lift looks very different to say the least), and the transitions on some of those turns look really intense. If this ride has any kind of airtime and the trains *hopefully* have lap bars, or the soft restraints on I305, this thing will be an unbelievable addition and top coaster in the country. Hopefully it is topped out tomorrow.
  2. Yikes, Montu needs a paint job badly. The colors are REALLY fading badly.
  3. Derek, the ride doesn't open with the park because it technically is advertised as opening at noon everyday. At least that's what the sign says in the Fastpass place. Stupid, I know. And the ride's problems have to do with the censors moreso than the cable lift. The lift has worked well, but what kept the 2nd train off so long and what still causes the ride to fu*k up is the censors.
  4. GADV is NOT a dump. If you go on a non-crowded day where there are no crowds and no line jumping, it is far easier to see. It has beautiful scenery, great landscaping, some good theming....it's just a shame it has lots of operation problems.
  5. KK is rough because of horrible, bulky train design that can't take the high speeds of the ride, not because GADV takes bad care of the ride. GADV retracks RT every year and always trying to keep up with that, they finally got both sides of Chiller up this year when the accident happenned, Chiller/GASM/RT all have gotten paint jobs in past few years, etc... The park has tried to do its job of keeping up with things, it's just that the rides from the start were crap with reliability/quality.
  6. Steel: 1) Superman: Ride of Steel at SFNE 2) Millennium Force 3) Apollo's Chariot 4) Storm Runner 5) Nitro 6) Revenge of the Mummy 7) Top Thrill Dragster 8) Kingda Ka 9) Alpengeist 10) Incredible Hulk Coaster Wood: 1) El Toro 2) Voyage 3) Boulder Dash 4) Cornball Express 5) Legend 6) Raven 7) Viper at SFGAm 8) Lightning Racer 9) Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain 10) Wildcat at HP
  7. I'm not talking about the speed you hit brakerun. I'm talking about the wowo factor. Voyage is probably the most intense ride I have ever ridden...and is over 6,000ft. Not to mention it rides like a true wooden coaster, which means it already somewhat beats you up as it is. All of that combined make you feel a bit beaten and exhausted going into brakerun, while on Toro, which is very smooth and is 2,000ft shorter, doesn't push that limit and you go into brakerun filled with adreniline rather than feeling like you were just beaten up for 2 minutes. Voyage is absolutely amazing, but it doesn't have the same wow factor Toro does.
  8. After riding Voyage this [ast week, I have now been on both rides... I give El Toro the slightest edge for the fact that it gives you the "wow" factor as you hit brakerun, and you are always going to get an amazing, smooth ride. With Voyage, when you hit the brakerun, because it sustains such a high intensity throughout the whole 6,000+ feet of track, you feel a bit worn out and beaten. And out of my 3 rides, I had 2 smooth rides, and one ride was pretty rough, which made the ride unbearable, and took away from most of the excitement. Both rides are absolutely stunning, and my ride on Voyage at night was just as good, possibly better than any of my 7 Toro rides, but that wow factor Toro gives, and the conisistency of the ride is what gives Toro the edge.
  9. Depeneding when you go during FF, it may not be that crowded. Best time to go is Sunday, or right when park opens on the Friday. On Saturday Toro and KK will probably have 3 hour lines, or longer.
  10. At GADV it is V-E-R-Y easy to hit every major ride outside of KK and S:UF by 12:30pm without getting a flashpass. Basically get to park, if you see Toro testing beforehand, run to that. If not, go to Movietown first. Let's say Toro is running, run to that first (go past teacups and through arcade, don't go to boardwalk then through GK). Get a rid eon that, and while RT is still empty, hit that. Go across bridge, hit Medusa and RMT quickly as there will be no lines yet. Go across park via Lakefront and hit Skull Mountain on way to Nitro. Nitro will probably have a 10-20min wait tops, so right now is a great time to hit it. After Nitro get on B:TR which won't be past 20min. If Toro was open by 10:15, you will have ridden 7 of the 10 major coasters by 11:30. Now head to boardwalk, get a ride on GASM as ther eis never a line. If S:UF's line isn't bad (first switchbacks) get on that right now. For KK and Toro, if you go on weekday, from 8-closing Toro will be a walkon, and the last half hour or so KK will only be 20min, so as long as you have the tolerance wait 'till night time to hit KK.
  11. Hmmmm..... 1) El Toro's crossover RT. INSANE airtime. 2) Alpengeist cobra roll. 3) KK/TTD launch.
  12. Depends on the company. For example I find Arrow's version of airtime as painful (although fun), while El Toro and S:RoS have far more sustained airtime, stronger yet much more comfy and exhilerating. My vote goes to yes, I love it.
  13. Just so you guys know, Mountain Creek still has MANY of those amazing slides and cliff dives from the Action Park days. A few were taken out, but the park is a lot nicer now and still has some amazing slides. As for my pick, the best waterslide I have been on is....probably Ser Duka, the normal speed slide next to Bomb Bay. When I went to WnW in 2000, I didn't have the nerve to Bomb Bay, and in 2004 when i went Bomb Bay wasn't open and was ahving maintence done.
  14. I went in 2000, and that drop tower had INSANE airtime. Nice photos and TR, Ocean City is one of NJ's nicer boardwalks.
  15. Never said that, but the thin land made it difficult. Look at how close Toro's first camelback gets to the station. I feel it came down to saving money and not making the side of the station closest to RT wider. While that does make things more difficult, controlling the amount of people in the station fixes it a little. coasterguy618- It is steep and tall enough to where it needed a cable lift and Colossos didn't (which is even taller). When asked about it on the construction tour, the answer was the same as it was for MF-chain would have weighed too much. But yes, the lift is steep, best view to see it is from the FA side of the bridge.
  16. The station was saved to save space. As it is, Toro is on a VERY thin slot of land, and the infield of RT isn't very big. The reason for such a steep lift and the cable was to save space from going farther back into the Wild Safari area. Viper's station was small enough (especially width wise) that they decided it would create less of a hassle.
  17. Tango has been down for weeks now, no one knows what's up with it.
  18. Not Spinmeister...I'm talking Evolution, JJF, Time Warp, Pendulum, the countless other flats, etc...
  19. Supposedly KK, Toro, GASM and S:UF all got hit by lightning 2 days ago due to a HUGE storm (amusementpics.com has some pics of some of the lightning). GADV is a very good park. My only gripes is the addition of KK (great ride, but I have had some terrible experiences with it) and the demolition of our best flat rides.
  20. Great review! Hopefully you'll enjoy it a little more with more rides on it. It sucks about the slow moving line and dispatch times, as usually with 2 trains dispatches are only 2-3min.
  21. I only remember one day it was closed, and that was opening week, and now today. It was closed for an afternoon a week back that scared everyone into saying it'd be closed for a week.
  22. Since it will be July 4th, I doubt it. Today was only the 2nd day Toro was down the whole day since it opened 3 weeks ago, so I am sure you'll get your ride on it. It may not open at 10am, but it will most likely be open by 2 or so. BTW, ride Toro in BACK row, right side for best overall ride, or 3rd row for most ejector.
  23. Since the 2nd train has been added dispatches have been under 3-4min, and while there still is stacking, it is not bad anymore.
  24. Hey, Parktrips, if you need any advice for GADV/Toro (assuming you're going) you can PM/IM me. Nice TR! I live in NJ, but have never been to Clementon. Looks like a pretty crappy park that is carnival-quality. I have heard some great reviews for J2, so I may head down there this summer.
  25. 1) S:RoS at SFNE 2) El Toro 3) MF 4) Boulder Dash 5) Kingda Ka 6) Top Thrill Dragster 7) Apollo's Chariot 8) Storm Runner 9) Nitro 10) Revenge of the Mummy (USF)
