^^ That will do nicely. The difference here is that the WWL site is so much further back in the park that after the park closes, we'll have to rely on CP to provide us all with our Intamin inverted launched wooden flume construction pictures! -

Ommm... Om ani manay padme hommm... Ommm... It looks like another winter of looking at really cold construction shots from the Point. Who remembers seeing TTD construction shots with snow everywhere as it was being built? -
Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread

Since I'm the guy who first reported that height number, I feel like I should remind everybody: The height was reported to me in meters, by a Japanese construction worker. Between the two of us, there wasn't a lot of shared language. I asked him in English what the maximum or top height of the coaster was. He replied in Japanese 'Hachi-ju miita' which is 80 meters. It is possible that he was telling me the top of the lightning rod (not installed yet at the time of my last update) at the peak of the lift hill is 80 meters off the ground. That would move the top height of the track down about ten feet. Just an thought I had. -

(Deep breaths, as directed.) A few weeks ago I heard that a Mack Supersplash had been sold to an unnamed US park. I didn't mention it here, as even though the speculation was that it would be a good replacement for WWL, I didn't have anything to back it up. Now I see Intamin track on site and footers in water, AA doesn't really interact with a whole lot of water, either, but it leads me to pass on the other rumor I heard, which now makes more sense of the two I heard. It could still be a Vekoma SLC at the Point and CP is storing Intamin track for GL's next ride. We'd all feel foolish then, wouldn't we? AA was on RCDB as 'under construction' for about a year. I look at the new for ## stuff a lot. I know Duane doesn't add a coaster until he hears stuff that is almost 100% certain. I don't know if he knew from the contract, from the park announcement, ground breaking, etc. This means that ride COULD have been under construction for much longer than a year, or much less. I'll check with him. -
Theme parks in the alanya area(turkey)
rollermonkey replied to jALIg's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
According to RCDB.com, there are only three Amusement parks in Turkey with rollercoasters. There may be more, unreported parks though. They are Genclik Parki, which is in or near Ankara; Izmir Fuari, in or near Izmir, and Tatilya, which is supposed to be in Istanbul. I have been to Istanbul and didn't hear about this park. I've also been to Marmaris, and heard no word of a park in that area. I don't know where Alanya is, but I hope this is helpful. -
Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread
rollermonkey replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey, all, I noticed that this thread has started to get a little popular, so I figure I should advise everyone that I may not get to Fuji-Q this weekend for my planned construction update. My brother-in-law was talking about visiting, and after that we would all drive up to the in-laws. If that falls apart, (and it seems that it may,) I will still go this Saturday and post pictures on Sunday. (My time zone.) If it happens, she has said that next weekend is cool, as she wants to go get drunk with her girlfriends in Tokyo. Sorry if anyone's been waiting on me! -

And there lies the problem with Cedar Point's habit of always having to have the biggest, most, fastest, etc. When they want to do a project that might not be in the adrenaline-junkies best interest, you get the possibility of people bashing what may turn out to be a really nice ride that your Aunt won't swoon just from the sight of! People are already TO'd that they aren't getting a 30 million dollar duelling B&M flyer! That's rediculous. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
rollermonkey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
OK. The Lotte World Aqua Trax has about three trains on the track at a time. They could still make it a dueling version, which would solve a lot of the capacity issue. They took out a water ride, so to replace it with a quasi-water ride and get a coaster (or two) in the deal doesn't sound that bad an idea to me. If it's the Ball coaster, I don't even want to think of the complications of that. I have only seen single car trains for that, and there's another 8-passenger train and the same capacity issue on top of prototype bugs. The truth is none of us will know until CP wants us to know. -

(Disclaimer) I haven't ridden Atlantis Adventure at Lotte, but I have seen it testing. (All d@mn day!) I saw no floating sections on AA. The splash effect is done similar to Sheikra's. There appeared to be multiple sections of LIM boosts and LIM brakes. The restraint and seating system is unique. You straddle the seat like a sea-doo. It doesn't have the back pad like Vekoma booster bikes. I'm not 100% but it was described to me as being a modified version of the Intamin T-bar. Instead of being connected to the floor, it moves in some sort of track to position itself between your legs. It sounds fantastically stupid! The ride itself was supposed to be fun. -

Great job Carnage and CedarPoint420! I've been to Lotte World twice, and both times the ride was closed. The first time, it tested continuously the entire time I was there. (Check out my pictures at RCDB and you'll see ampty cars running around!) The second time, it was down for a week of 'scheduled maintanence.' A friend of mine got on it and said it was very fun, but described the weirdest line procedure I've ever heard: Tickets are issued at three times during the day. Wait in line for one of a limited number of tickets. Come back during the window of time shown on your ticket. Wait in line to ride. Ride. It sounds like FastPass, but without a standby line! That's why I've been close to riding, but without the opportunity to actually ride. It also fits the Intamin curse: Lots of apparent downtime and a death! (Earlier this year, drunken employee ejected while riding after work.) Carnage, I'll buy you a cookie on the UK trip. CedarPoint420, where would you like your cookie mailed to? -

The hints given to me by the little bird: It is very rare, in fact there is only one. That one is closer to you than it is to me. (The bird lives near Milwaukee.) I trust this bird's data frequently, and he's never steered me wrong. He did state that this was based more on known facts than insider knowledge. -

I just had a little bird whisper in my ear. I was given two clues. The first clue didn't tell me much. The other clue given to me made it obvious to me what this will likely be. Let me just say, I am looking forward to experiencing this ride when it opens, as I've come close, but not had the opportunity to ride one before. If you know a LOT about my coastercount and park trips, this could be enough to give it away to somenone, but I think that no one in this forum has all the pieces of this puzzle. HA HA HA! I just asked the little bird if I can share the clues to me with you. I'm waiting for a reply. -

Google says it will take me 8 hours 47 minutes to cover the 398 miles between Great Lakes, IL and Santa Claus, IN. I think I can find a faster route. Who thinks I will be making that drive at least once in the next three years? -

Worm, Your parks are open year-round? That's cool! How cold is the winter there? I've always liked the color scheme. It's so BRIGHT! -
Of course! With KK down, they have enough electricity to operate both sides of B&R:TC! The catchcar has its own set of brakes to stop it before the end of its path. It sounds more like those brakes failed than a cable breakage. This is possibly worse than a cable breakage, but possibly not a big problem. It all depends on if the catchcar was destroyed or not, and what caused the brakes to fail. Catch car ok and hydraulic line failure is the 'best' scenario. Replace the line, test and reopen. Catchcar destroyed and massive system wide failures to the catchcar brake system would be at the very bad end of the spectrum. Lots of new parts from Intamin, all the way over there in Switzerland. Replace, analyze, test, reopen. Of course, unless we have some insiders at 6FGAdv, we'll never know the whole story.

How often do you visit a theme park?
rollermonkey replied to Timmyuk's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have been averaging about 25+ parks a year for the past six years. While I've been in Japan the past three years, I've been a busy boy, having visited more than 50 parks in Japan and about 20 elsewhere. My nearest park is Hakkejima Sea Paradise, which is about 5 miles from my house. I have only visited it twice. The only parks with repeat visits are Disney, Fuji-Q, LaQua, Arakwa Yuen and Aqua Stadium.
