Well, there is nothing to spend money on when you're there (unless you want a 7-11 grade sandwich from a push cart), so even if we wanted to, there's nothing to buy. And I'm sorry if expecting a reasonable return on investment is being a "cheap ass coaster enthusiast." The place has 3-5 solid adult rides and another few that might be enjoyable by some adults, no shows, no nothing else, not even proper food stands. Sorry if that's not worth $60 or $70 to us.

In all seriousness, as much as I joke about SF's ride opening time tables, yes it should be open by September. However, DoinIt is right....take a look a WCR for how to colossally ruin a ride opening.

LOL at the concept of NASCAR fans expecting anything other than complete tragedy. Or doing anything other than chugging Coors Light. NASCAR has bigger problems than worrying about a failing half-amusement park, like the fact that their viewership has plummeted in the past few years, that their mechanics are going to have to learn how to work on post-1950s technology, and that their drivers are going to have to learn to shift more than 4 gears.

Nice TR. As for Aggretsuko, it's a definitely-not-for-kids show, is totally hilarious, and both seasons are on US Netflix (both dubbed and sub-titled). I highly recommend it.

If you ever find yourself in or around Asbury Park, NJ, check out the Silverball Pinball Museum. It's a good time, and Asbury Park is a much nicer town than it generally gets a rap for (so long as you stay on the ocean-side of the rail line that runs through town LOL). They apparently have one in Delray Beach, FL as well.

My bad then for misinterpreting that update. Still kinda unacceptable when Orion is completely assembled and Candymonium isn't far behind. If it's just "me and my coaster nerd buddies," why does every other theme park chain in the US, possibly the world, target opening their "New for Year X" rides towards the beginning of that season? Six Flags caught plenty of flack from the "GP" on Facebook for WCR, so it's not just us. Also, check your tone, newbie. We're not entitled to anything more than what they advertise. Had they come out and said "WCR won't open until the very, very, end of 2019," this wouldn't be an issue. You clearly are a Six Flags fanboy if you're defending this practice, which, again, no one else in the industry does. You might try to write off SFMM since they're a year-round park, but you don't announce something in 2018 as a "New for 2019" ride and then open it at the end of December regardless of your operating calendar. This guy gets it.

Ahh, yes, let's take the exception to the rule - which would the 365-days-a-year park that had the screwed up ride launch due to manufacturing issues - to try to disprove a generality. You could have just posted "bUt WeSt CoAsT rAcErS" and saved yourself some words. Had they started construction at a reasonable time, then the "manufacturing issues" (which haven't even been confirmed) wouldn't have caused the "New for 2019" ride to open in the very last week of 2019. There's no explaining away their crap. They're doing the same thing with Jersey Devil at SFGAadv now...just last week they finally finished clearing the land to pour footers, and their opening day is 3 months away. I can't see it being ready to carry passengers before July. Six Flags just doesn't care to have their "New for X" rides open in time to enjoy them for the entire season that year. Cedar Fair, Hershey, and just about everyone else does try to have rides open for opening day of their season, so it looks bad on them.

I'm sure there are reasons. I'm also sure they did what they could to keep said attractions, especially in the case of Volcano. Rides get old. They become increasingly difficult to maintain, especially when the company no longer exists and you can't get parts for them anymore (as was the case with The Crypt). It would have been better had there been a replacement on hand, but in the case of these 2, there was none, due to it not being planned for. Um, Huss still exists and still manufacturers the Top Spin. I'm sure they could get parts if they wanted to.

Personally I'd rather have a 16 year old ride op than a late-20s ride op who couldn't find a better job than a theme park.

Honestly I won't miss Crypt at all (I've never been a fan of flippy rides), but this does raise a concern that if their future plans involve both Crypt's spot and Volcano's, that Avalanche's days are numbered. Which would be a damned shame, regardless of what replaces it.

I'd still be extremely surprised if it was the 2021 attraction...just doesn't make sense to me to open major coasters in back to back years, but what do I know?

Again, as has been said multiple times, Cedar Fair does not care about what the "standard operating temperatures" for rides are. Their Winterfest events are not aimed at thrill-seekers, despite apparent demand at parks that do operate one or two thrill rides, and until/if that mindset changes, you won't be seeing more thrill rides open. Six Flags and other parks have demonstrated that various rides can run in very cold temperatures, but Cedar Fair doesn't care because of their marketing strategy for these events. All discussion about operating temperature for these parks is completely meaningless.

So in other words, the rides will be left to rot (without even the pitiful amount of maintenance they previously received), for an extended amount of time, making them worthless in the end. Super.
