  1. ^^The crew was actually really good. I think they got a sampling of the best workers from each of the other rides to be the opening crew for it. The trains were moving through pretty quickly, never waited more than 30 minutes, except for one downtime but the Intamin curse is a topic for later .
  2. So, tonight I was invited to and participated in the employee preview night. I was able to get 5 rides in on Cheetah Hunt. Let me start off by addressing the "speed" issue, the ride is faster than it looks from off ride, that is all I will say on this matter. Now, about the ride itself, it's great! Cheetah Hunt is probably the most re-ride able coaster in the park. It features multiple areas of your usual Intamin ejector airtime, as well as a startling abundance of lateral forces. The start of the ride is extremely epic, only thing I could compare it to would possibly be the double launch at the start of Volcano at KD, just replacing the inversion at the end with some nice airtime. The tower gives great views of the park and the surrounding areas, and the drop off it gives another decent pop of airtime. The only really "meh" part of the ride is the SkyRide jump, it just goes a bit higher than would be wanted and instead of feeling like an Intamin air-hill, it felt more like a B&M floater hill. The heartline roll following though makes up for it as it supplies a rather generous portion of hang time. The MCBR is where this ride takes a shift in its format and goes from, constant speed swooping movements to the type of ride we'd expect, along the lines of Maverick. For one, the canyon portion is probably my favorite part of the entire ride, featuring many moments of lateral gs. That's right, these surf curves actually aren't pointless! Anyways, after that the third launch actually has a decent kick to it and the following parabolic air-hill is almost as intense as Maverick's first air hill. The following s-curve hill supplies yet another pop of ejector air, and the last s-curve hill is possibly the most intense moment of the ride. The sudden dive out of the hill creates really intense laterals and the quick jump back up to the brakes produces a fairly intense moment of high-gs. Overall, while this ride is not as intense as the rides Maverick and iSpeed deliver, this ride is still above average and scores from me a spot in my top 20 and a solid rating of about 9/10. It is a perfect addition to the park and really rounds out the ride selection. I believe BGT has a winner on their hands here and should bring in some heavier crowds for a while. On another note, Cheetah Run is an extremely cool exhibit and is well worth checking out, especially for the demonstrations, plus Cheetahs are just cute .
  3. Since I moved to FL, I now am living within 15 miles of all the Orlando parks, so yeah my home park could be considered Epcot, which in that case is in fact my all time Favorite park.
  4. Hooray! Goodbye Gilbert Godfrey, hello Disney classic!
  5. Got to ride Star Tours at DHS today, and I have to agree with everyone so far that it is incredibly well done. Rode it 11 times and got to see every segment of footage available for the program. The 3D effects were amazing and probably the smoothest 3D on any theme park attraction I've seen, not to mention the ride vehicles move like a dream. 11 weren't enough, I can't wait to get back on this thing! *Edit* I am terrified of how the opening weekend is going to look for this thing. They have started hanging tarps up over the street in New York to house the overflow queue...
  6. Yay! More Coke Freestyle fountains! Those things are so cool, everyone needs to go try grape Vault right now.
  7. ^^^ I call joining in on the opening day for it! Haha, take that Bryan and Adam . Seriously though, I think this might actually work out. I've always thought a mini golf course would have worked great at Downtown Disney, so this should be close to what I was imagining. Here's hoping for the best, and cheap price options...
  8. Okay, here's an update to this thread, and then an answer to both Sean and Joe. The water cannons placed around the journey to the second lift are still doing as fore-mentioned. The big one that shoots towards the observation bridge is turned on, but it only fires once every 4 boats. I do kinda miss the water cannon right at the second lift hitting the boat, but it can still get the right side a bit wet. Now, Sean, I hate water rides what's soul purpose is to get you soaked. I LOVE log flumes, water coasters, and rapids rides. These rides give you an actual ride, rather than just a lift, drop, and splash. Also, if you remember, I wanted to ride StR, but was reluctant due to having a huge bandage on my leg that I didn't want to get wet. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.
  9. Space Mountain, 10 times in fact. Magic Kingdom was dead today.
  10. I was able to catch the show yesterday, and I must agree that it is a LOT better than Believe was. Every movement of the show was perfectly timed and everything flowed together seamlessly. Also the soundtrack for One Ocean is great, matching the moods of each of the show's segments spot on. There's a lot more trainer/guest interaction in One Ocean in comparison to Believe as well, watched a few of them use the fountains to get the people in the first few rows even more wet. Speaking of the wetness, HOLY COW! I've never seen something that soaks this many people at one time. The new fountains shoot up to the perfect height to basically cause it to rain on the first 5 rows of seats. Tilly is astonishing as well, when he came out in the show I was watching he managed to get a couple splashes all the way up to the handicap area.
  11. I don't understand what it is you are comparing it to. I've ridden 2 star flyers, both of which are double seated, most recently the one at Magical Midway, and they both featured the constant rising and falling.
  12. My must-know question: Are there Cheetah Hunt pins? If so, I need one.
  13. The steel poll was a bit interesting to fill out for me this year as this is the first time I have ever actually ridden every coaster I have ridden before, that is listed on the poll, this year. So my opinions are very fresh and accurate for this year. Top 10: 1. Intimidator 2. Maverick 3. Phantom's Revenge 4. Apollo's Chariot 5. Goliath (SFOG) 6. Manta 7. Sheikra 8. Kraken 9. Rip Ride Rockit 10. Favorite Wooden Bottom 5: 75. Nighthawk 76. Fav Vekoma Suspended Family 77. Ninja (SFOG) 78. Favorite Vekoma Invertigo 79. Shockwave
  14. ^They're both red and blue and both of them have names starting with an "s." I can definitely see if, say its a person's first trip to the park, them becoming a bit confused, especially when they are lined up in almost a straight line from each other. Now if you get someone who has been to the park before saying that, then that's a comment for this thread.
  15. MY vote went to Manta, but really this is a very hard choice as Kraken, Sheikra, and Rockit are all top 10 rides for me as well. I gave the edge to Manta though thanks to its brilliant theme and its amazing pretzel loop.
  16. Well, can't say much for the area's lodging if you aren't wanting to stay on property. I can say though that with you going on Memorial Day weekend you will be facing some very bad crowds. If you only have 2 days to spend, I'd say to spend both of them at Cedar Point and forget about trying to spend a day at KI, especially if you are actually wanting to do everything in the park. I'd highly suggest you reconsider staying on property because the early admission in the mornings for the resort guests will give you an extra hour to help you manage your day and try to squeeze in a few more rides. Breakers Express shouldn't be too bad and is a short trip down the penninsula.
  17. ^Yes indeed. Larson's towers are extremely powerful on the airtime. Very close to the same level most second gen Intamin towers give you. I really love the things.
  18. I'd probably go with Monday, as crowds on weekdays at BGT really are next to nothing. Weekends you have many more locals out with their families for something to do on the weekend. Just make sure you try your best to be there at opening, as other have said crowds are very minimal at opening. The hours will be more than enough for you to get in multiple rides on whatever you want to ride on either day, so just go and enjoy yourself.
  19. Universal is very solid when it comes to attractions. I'm just amazed at all the love Dragons has, when if you look past the theming and the dueling aspects of it, each one is pretty standard for a B&M invert. Fire is the only one that's truly stand out to me with its second immelmann and the airtime hill. As for the attractions that I think are truly the best at Universal, at the studios it's Rip Ride Rock'it hands down, with Mummy's Revenge as a good second place. Then at IOA it's Forbidden Journey followed closely by Hulk.
  20. Quoted for 100% truth. Nothing I have experienced has ever even come close to the quality of attraction ToT is.
  21. Okay, hearing more about it makes me kind of excited for this. I thought it was going to be upcharge, but $5 seems like a steal for what they're delivering. The special interactive exhibits sound awesome as well. If I'm thinking correctly I've seen this group's work before. They brought their exhibits to an interactive science museum in Charlotte once, and I thought it was pretty cool there, but this will be on the large scale. Definitely a positive addition and I would be more than happy to drop $5 to see this. The most important part of the exhibit, I'm sure
  22. Was there on Monday to check out the new restraints. The line got extremely long so I only rode once and was seated in a boat with the shared bars. From observation though, the new individuals really don't do anything different. Doesn't really slow down boarding any at all. It just means I won't be able to sit in the center of a row anymore to avoid the water sloshing over the sides, but that's a tolerable loss for improved security .
  23. This will be my first year working somewhere OTHER than Carowinds, but I've moved on, now a Disney CM, will be a slide op at Blizzard Beach. I'm starting on the 26th and I'm so excited!
  24. That was an awesomely ghetto night! So much fun, and by the way, looking back to the aquarium update... I'm glad I was swimming to the right
  25. Hooray for even more things on International Drive, because you know the traffic wasn't bad enough. While I am kind of excited about the museum and the rest of the plans, having an "Orlando Eye" does seem quite pointless. I mean, we already have Seaworld's sky tower and Characters in Flight at DTD and this is a total of 25 extra ft.
