It's official...Dave Thomas is my hero! He's like a walking Grindhouse movie. -
Theme Park Review's 2009 Trips Announced!
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm leaning towards the Deep South trip. I've been to a few of the parks on the list. I know if we are going to Dollywood, I know they will treat TPR quite well. I bet my bottom dollar that we will have ERT on Thunderhead and Mystery Mine at least! The price for the trip is pretty reasonable too. On the Deep South trip, I assume we will all meet initally at ATL? I am trying to picture the "luxury" coaches. I hope they have the bling bling that was found on a coach during the Japan trip. -
Theme Park Review's 2008 Asia Tour!
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am Chinese and I never knew this! I thought it was just a Chinese thing to have chickens with heads and feet on them. My mom would have probably have eaten the chicken head. Heck, her favorite part of the fish is the fish head! Yes, my family eats weird things. My grandmother used to eat the chicken butt. Yes, you heard that right...chickens have butts. -
Cypress Gardens...$5 Fridays!
BarryH replied to CoasterJunkie's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wha, $5 to get in on Fridays? That is a pretty good deal. Parking itself is $5-$8 anyway! I guess I finally get to ride the new and improved (?) Starliner! -
Theme Park Review's 2008 Asia Tour!
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am loving the photos! I think the most creative ride name in Chimelong Paradise was "Flying Tigers." The ride names put Nagashima Spaland to shame! I did not take a TPR trip this year due to new job issues. I am forever kicking myself after looking at all these photos. I have learned my lesson...go on a TPR trip. Now I know...and knowing is half the battle! Gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjoooooooooooooooooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! -

Great photos! My parents and grandmother ate those exact chicken feet on a regular basis. Imagine a dinner table with a big steaming plate of chicken feet with toes and all! That's what you get for growing up in a Chinese household. -
SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread

^I think the reserved seating will be around the same area as the Platnium Pass reserved seating. As for me, I don't know if I would invest in the Quick Queue passes. It might be good for Wild Arctic and Journey to Atlantis, though. Then again, I'm at Sea World pretty often anyway. -

PTR: Dave & Falafel Go To SFGAdv!
BarryH replied to Meteornotes's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I have to wonder...what tasted better...the plate or the pizza? I always laugh when I see a PTR of Dave and his girlfriend Falafel. It makes me feel like I am trying to find the elusive carnivorous bees. Fally-fel is Romy to Dave's Michelle, although I bet Falafel invented Post-Its. -
PTR: Dave & Falafel Go To Hersheypark
BarryH replied to Meteornotes's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I love Falafel's t-shirt of "I Heart Toxic Waste!" Where can I get such a shirt? I want to send one to my friend in New Jersey. We always tease him about the toxic waste in his state, even calling the park "Six Flags Toxic Adventures." I think Dave and Falafel need to make a video. There are many great duos -- Rosencrantz and Gildenstern, Abbot and Costello, Bill and Ted, and Romy and Michelle, but now there is Dave and Falafel! I'd buy that video for a dollar! BTW, how come I want to call Falafel "Fally-fel?" Who knows... -
The best park in Japan is Tokyo DisneySea, hands down. If you want a park with good roller coasters though, I would check out Nagashima Spaland. The names for their rides may not be creative, but it's a decent coaster park. Fuji-Q has a bunch of coasters, but you'll end up standing in line for most of the day (hence the nickname "Fuji-Queue").

You could probably do Knott's in 1/2 day. SFMM and Knott's is probably not doable for all the reasons Wes said. If you are credit whory, Adventure City is a few miles from Knott's and you can probably get 2 credits there.

Well, I was thinking of the movie "Before Sunrise" and I saw a photo TR on another site of Vienna. I was thinking of visiting Vienna. Then I thought, "Do they have any credits?" I checked RCDB and, believe it or not, there is a park near Vienna called Wiener Prater. As I was looking at the credits, I noticed an odd thing. Here is a Vekoma boomerang. I was about to yawn, but this one had lapbars. Lapbars, of all things! I wonder how the ride feels with just lapbars. I suppose this would be one of the few boomerangs that would be headache-free! The coaster is called "Boomerang," surprisingly. Here are a few photos from RCDB: BTW, is this a credit or a "Jeff Johnson credit?"

I may be in the minority here, but I'm hoping Milwuakee's Best will buy the Busch parks. Here's rooting for "Milwuakee's Best Gardens!" -
I heard rumors of a new credit at Old Town in Kissimmee, FL. I checked rcdb.com and it appears the Dragon Wagon was replaced by a Wacky Worm. Ooooh...I got to go back and get a new credit! Where's Jeff Johnson and Elissa when you need them? Check it out for yourself: http://www.rcdb.com/pd156.htm

I think Dan is too busy answering all the e-mails that he gets.

^If a hurricane hits Florida during your visit in September, Orlando will probably just get a lot of rain for 1-2 days. Orlando is well enough inland to not get a big blow from a hurricane.

^My attack plan at Universal is basically "rides first, shows next."
